I have lived in Louisiana and currently reside in Houston, and I have never seen a check point. The map showing the boarder zone is probably just to show where they have jurisdiction, not where you are likely to run into a check point. As far as I can tell getting pulled over at a check point is more of a problem between Texas and California (maybe close to the Canadian boarder). Coastal areas just monitor the docks.
But I have hear the behavior at check points to be exactly as described here if not more racist.

Speaking for the north, if you look at that map Maine is all a border zone, the coast you never see them since that primarily is watched by coast guard if anyone, and then for the Candian border its only the larger traffic areas like Rangley, but even then its less check points and more just seeing boarder patrol SUV driving around. The boarder between Maine Canada is so wide and un-patrolled I have found myself driving a back road and end up seeing a Canadian town and having to quickly turn around.

I like how this is what has become of the entirety of the Philippines.
They passed a Law that's suppose to counter "terrorism", but anyone in uniform (Police, military etc.) are allowed to detain anyone based off of mere suspicion; And it's guilty until proven innocent, as people are detained for up to 24 days.
Recently, a nun who criticized the government was tagged as a potential terrorist so she was detained. A family of Muslims was also stopped because they were "suspicious" due to how they dress and the boxes they brought with them (Even when they show that the boxes were filled with perfumes the police just wouldn't stop checking their stuff). They demanded papers and aggressively kept telling them that they are doing this because they are suspicious, they only stopped when the father showed them that he was an Engineer.
They cornered students when they were protesting in their campus, police armed with riot shields and batons. They even detained someone who didn't participate in the protest, because he asked the police why they were doing this; Best part is the police actually didn't know about what violations were done by the students.

How exactly does anything of this fall under the prohibition of unreasonable searches and seizures? To search someone because you suspect they might be breaking the law is not unreasonable all the time. It can be but to catch crimes you have to be able to do searches on people not doing any crimes.
To take someone into custody while processing them such as when they refuse to have their car searched and you think there might be drugs there is not unreasonable.
I believe you americans have forgotten what unreasonable actually is. Back in the days people got arrested and forced to work slave labor as a prisoner for years before any trials even start. Sometimes they might just pissed of a noble and get sent to jail when no crimes were done. What unreasonable searches and seizures looks like is when the law enforcement or guards start targeting you for searches knowing that you have nothing and is inocent. When they take you into custody to make sure you miss your flights or to just harrass you are unreasonable. When someone does this it goes against the Fourth Amendment. Setting up a checkpoint with random searches at the border and give you a random search only to have you put into custody because you refuse is not unreasonable. The reason for the checkpoint was resonable. The reason to search you was most likely reasonable. To take you into custody is reasonable. If they suspect you are a drug smuggler they can't leave you in the car with the evidence with cellphone access as you will just dispose of the evidence or warn everyone.

Like how border agents shouldn't be allowed to stop people they think are illegal mexicans, or how they have to detain people when they refuse to search their cars. When you are refuse allowing them to search you car things just gets much more complicated. Now they have to verify who you are without you helping them to do so. That means they need to contact various agencies and courts to get the right to search your car, and you can't leave while doing this. This means you have to be detained for days or weeks while the slow bureaucracy work. To frame this as racial profiling and malicious acts is extremely dishonest. When you refuse to work with the system, expect the system to be slow.

Who said the need for those instructions were so great that they had to become a law (as in, “we have such a problem with xx immigrants that we need a law that allows racial profiling without directly calling it that), -> the best thing for everyone would be to eliminate the security theater & create an actual successful system, but so many people buy into the fear mob mentality & refuse to open up to new information or new ideas that it seems like a loss cause.

We love to recite our rights but the truth is most people don’t know them, & when we feel our rights are being broken we get angry & lash out -> causing the situation to escalate more -> “justifying” the need for more evasive search procedures.

How exactly are you supposed to catch people that should not legally be in the country when you can't stop them around the border and can't ask who they are? Are you not allowed to follow people and pull them over if they just happen to turn tail and run when they see a checkpoint? Should the police doing a checkpoint to check for drunk drivers not be able to follow anyone that turn around to find another way? The people that think they shouldn't must think people are idiots. Criminals will not walk into a checkpoint knowing they get caught. Its nothing but reasonable to assume those that avoid checkpoints have something to hide. The person claiming to be telling the truth or those yes puppets blindly supporting have to provide indisputable proof of fact. I do not I am saying just about 100% of what is said on this mindless propaganda show is twisted, half “truths” that when actually looked at and analyzed will be found to be misleading and not actual fact rather opinion based on just part of the facts that are negated when the full actual fact is brought to light. Counter-evidence: The radiation from cell phones is non-ionizing, meaning it is incapable of changing the chemical structure of whatever happens to be absorbing that radiation, furthermore, there are other factors that are contributing to the raising cancer rate, including, but not limited to, malnourishment, obesity, and exposure to known carcinogens.
