Hello Ryan George from the thing I'm currently watching
Jokes on you I'm no longer watching, I'm reading comments
"The Thing I'm Currently Watching" is my favorite show
Hello Hey_Everypony, from the comments of the thing I'm currently watching
That's actually pretty funny
Aww Ryan George from the thing I’m currently watching is tight
“Ohh, doing your own bits is TIGHT” is one of the funniest lines you’ve written, and it wasn’t even in a real pitch meeting
My absolute favourites are:
Money is TIGHT
and
Tree holes are TIGHT
@@8tonystark8 "Mary Poppins is TIGHT" is another good one
@@8tonystark8 Two more from me:
se(a)men is TIGHT!
inexplicable accents are TEUGHT!
@@8tonystark8 "leather is TIGHT" "yeah, that's the problem"
@@8tonystark8”oh, touching crotches is TIGHT!”
For what it's worth, saying Hela "wants to take over Asgard, so she does" is still one of my favorite Pitch Meeting lines. It's up there with Gandalf's "breakdancing incident" and "my Physics teacher filed a restraining order after reading the scene I wrote."
Which movie was the one with the physics teacher?
@@harshailani8928 The Fate of the Furious. He mentions his Physics teacher twice, starting at the 4min 25sec mark.
Omg I forgot about Gandalf breakdancing
Listening to you seamlessly change from your Ryan voice to your Producer Guy voice while rewriting the script is soothing to my soul.
I don't like how the older clones aren't eternally smiling or speaking in an unsettlingly joyful manner.
Yes, entire crops were lost before Ryan figured out the perfect formula.
They had only reused the MCU movie template about 16 times by then, so they weren't quite as cynical yet.
It was an early beta run. They were working out the kinks in the clone machine. Give them a break.
They'll do their job well.
I kinda like that. it was way more sarcastic and deadpan without feeling forced. Also the insight into creative process and laziness was better
“I let myself sleep more, now.”
- Words of wisdom from Ryan George
That's going to be changing soon, now that he's got a baby on the way.
@@jeffallen55foreal.. better get it while he can 😂
It took me nearly ten years of therapy and working to improve myself to conclude that the best things you can do to fight mental issues like depression are eating three times a day, drink enough water, and let yourself sleep some more.
@@SilverAlex92 He should talk more about not getting enough sleep!
As an active insomniac, I've never gone to sleep without conscious effort.
"Just keep doing it even if nobody's watching" I really needed to hear that today, thank you!
that's what she said!
The document edit has instantly become my favourite thing about this revisited videos, please keep doing them, you precious angel.
Film school support tech here. We cover both journalism and documentary (also used to do dramatics). We teach with everything from big studio cameras that _require_ a tripod, to shoulderCams, handiCams, to DSLRs to phones, with a bit of drone work on the side. All are valid, some better for certain situations than others, of course.
"The best camera is the one you have on you when you need it" and all that.
Wait? This was only the second pitch meeting?! That is literally insane how good they were straight off the bat
Agreed, I was shocked. It seems so fully formed as a concept, and completely well-executed.
I know right? The old ones were the best ones right out of the gate.
Ryan George is a genius at this thing. The infinitely variable catch phrases are the framework (the bones) on which the movie review process is built. It's so good as to really be comedy classic.
And it's his. Nobody else can do what he's done with Pitch Meeting. That's great for him but it does force him into a one trick pony. His other videos are fun but Pitch Meeting is comedy GOLD!
Hoist on his own petard.
I like seeing you go back and do the re-writes; you've clearly gotten better at your craft!
I love that you do these. Wrote a novel a little over ten years ago and published it, but I was looking at it last year for the first time since publication and was embarrassed by how bad it was. But then I saw you do these and literally rewriting your old material that doesn't quite meet your current standard. So I opened the old file and realised that my novel could be saved with a bit of tweaking. I don't have to burn it to the ground and act like it never happened.
In my mind you did the "Rough, rough, Ruff" joke with the dog clips for your own amusement primarily, but I thought you should know that it was straight comedy GOLD! I laughed so hard and I applaud you for your work.
I also watched that part several times
Lol, if dogs had podcasts.
I was confused since dogs don't make that sound. At the Place Where Words For Things Are Decided, they decided that dogs make the sound "woof" and "bow wow"...
Rough
I enjoyed the doc editing.
Also, "billions of dozens" is a criminally good line to just throw out there with no prep or anything
It should definitely be a recurring catchphrase.
How do you always know exactly what thing I'm currently watching?? It's borderline creepy but very flattering at the same time. Wanna go to the prom with me?
Interesting to see how far the channel has come. Yeah the scripts are sharper now and there are more catchphrases, but it's really the delivery that has gone from just okay to the best part of the show. You've really nailed those characters, and nailing yourself is tight.
I had a dream the other night that you released an April Fool's video but the gag was just that Producer Guy and Screenwriter Guy switched spots. 😂
😂😂😂
I support this being the next Pitch Meeting. Maybe the 400 episode special…
Producer Guy wearing a suit and glasses, and telling Screenwriter guy to "hey, shut up!"
That's weird because I also had a dream about Ryan last night where he had a new prop for his pitch meetings that was a pull down piece of parchment. I can't remember why
They did. You’re not paying attention..
ohhhh watching ryan editing his docs file is TIGHT
I second this. I loved him actually showing us that snippet of his creative process
Yup, that was very good and entertaining, Ryan is a clever comedian.
I unironically don’t mind it too!
For some people it may be dull, but for writers and aspiring comedians it’s fun to see how his mind works and how he’s improved his humor and delivery!
I personally think that Matt Damon cameo was his BEST WORK! 🍿 Dead serious, I look forward to more Actor Loki!
With the HISHE crossover, who approached whom? I imagine the viewers of one tend to swim in each other's pool so it made sense. Loved it
The difference between the early and later videos is noticeable, but it's nice to see a revisit on them with critiques adding another level to them.
Agreed
Yeah it's really interesting watching it the first time through thinking man he just never missed. Then when he goes through the script it's really telling just how much he's improved over the years, even if the original felt great to begin with. Very quickly turns into "wow it's so much better now".

Wow wow wow... wow
Hi Ryan, kind words kind words. I'm currently a film student at the University of Michigan. To answer your question, no, we don't typically shoot on our smart phones. Usually we only use our smart phones as cameras when we're in preprod (location scouting, rough storyboards, etc). While the camera on phones are great now, they don't teach you some of the important things about filmmaking that an actual DSLR can, so almost every production focused course will use Canon XF605, Blackmagic 4k and 8ks, occasionally RED cameras (I can't remember which specifically off the top of my head), and sometimes legit film cameras using actual film reels. No other real way to learn about depth of field, f-stops, and filming techniques!
I totally love this series, btw, after I watch any movie that's come out in the past decade or so I always check to see if you've made a pitch for it yet and it's always a happy surprise to see you have 😁
Ohhh happy surprises are *TIGHT*
really glad a film student actually provided some info on this cause Ryan made me curious ahahah
Hey Ryan, glad you've taken steps to avoid burnout. I'm a big fan of your content.
Glad to see these revisited videos are still coming out.
Question: I hope it isn't too personal, but how do your family/close friends think about Pitch Meetings. Ever got together, and hear someone say, "Let's watch Ryan's new Pitch Meeting video" or something else someone said that sticks in your head?
Watching Ryan go seamlessly from himself to Producer Guy to Scriptwriter Guy is delightful. How do you keep finding new ways to entertain us, Ryan?
In Writer Guys defense, Who's Line was a pretty epic show.
Is it about a group of friends doing coke?
@@robesch88 they probably did that at some point tbh i would totally watch that! lmao
@@robesch88 ... I mean that's not far off from the energy level of the show 😂

Love this. The points you pulled out in editing are exactly what I noticed, watching this Pitch Meeting after having watched several more recent ones the last couple of days, the bit of mean-spiritedness and the repetition that kind of slows things down a bit. Seeing you actually edit and improve them with the skills you now have with this was great. Writing concisely without losing anything, making every word pull as much as much weight as it can, that's such a tough skill and it was just great to see you using your own real life examples for editing. I do really appreciate that while these are critiques in a sense, they feel like more or less "loving" critiques. It's almost impossible to make a movie that doesn't have some contrivances in it, for the sheer need to tell a complete story in a short time span. You can't show the guy knocking on 50 doors before he knocks on the right one. Nothing wrong in calling movies on such stuff, but it's a fine line to walk to be critique-y but positive and you have learned to do this, too, very well, and I for one really appreciate it. I don't think the videos would be as fun if they felt like they were genuinely "meanly" insulting people.
I don't know how it too me so long to realize how very Canadian you are. I appreciate it.
It’s crazy that Hemsworth and Hiddleston were cast originally to play serious versions of Thor and Loki, but they still fit just as well when put in a comedic version of the same characters.
Is it crazy? Isn't that literally what actors do?
Are you a bot? how come you are in every single comment section?
@@uk3h it is because it's hard to switch between comedy, action, and drama while keeping your character. Especially when you get a completely new writing team after 2 movies
I cant believe there are (at this time) 59 people out of the worlds population of 7 billion that agree with you.
@@HeftyDanIs it though?
The awkward cough is one of my favorite parts of that pitch meeting; personally I'd just tinker the setup to be less harsh instead of dumping the whole thing
Honestly the early pitch meetings are very noticable not just from the writing but also they feel much more stilted in your delivery than your current work. You're much better at it now
REALLY love the revisiting of the script part. For me, that's the perfect Insight into not only what you were thinking back then, but how you have grown as a writer and in your understanding of that into which Pitch Meetings has evolved over the years. Would love if you kept that as a regular segment on these Revisited bits, which, by the way, I also really love.
I liked how when Thor introduces himself to Valkyrie, he says "I’m Thor Odinson" - without mentioning he’s a prince or anything - and she calls him "your majesty". A cool hint that she’s Asgardian way before we’re told it explicitly.
I never noticed that that’s cool
Didn't everybody know about odin... Guy wasn't exactly a secret.
I mean…Odinson means literally son of Odin…
You're giving Taika Woketitty way too much credit.
Thor Ragnarok is
jeez ryan you came up with one of the best Tight jokes of all time so nonchalantly. Gotta work that into a future pitch meeting
Like the editing portion, especially taking it to the next level and acting out the replacement lines. Thanks Ryan!
I get so excited whenever I see these Revisited! videos, they're always top notch choices from your library of videos! Not sure if you're just super at picking the right ones, or if all your videos are just fantastic and always worth another watch + fun commentary with you and just getting a bit extra Ryan George which is just the greatest part!
I really liked this google doc breakdown. You took the time to read the portions you were editing or removing, whereas last time, things got highlighted and deleted too quickly to follow without pausing the video constantly. This hits a good rhythm and I didn’t feel lost, nor did it drag out too long. Please keep doing this!
I actually DID get the feeling you didn’t enjoy that movie, so it’s interesting to find out that you did (I hated that movie specifically for the reasons you pointed out-the heavy themes that were completely ignored in the interest of making a comedy, even though that meant that Thor became a terrible friend and a terrible character).
I really love the new Google docs portion of these videos
I always hit the like button as soon as I hit play on your videos because I already know I’m in for a good time 🎉
It’s awesome to watch these older ones again. You have come SO far with these! Keep ‘em coming!
I love not only these pitch meeting videos but every video this guy does
Holy moly I love in the rewrite part how easily you go into character. Amazing!
Also also, was that in the end a reference to Super Carling Brothers? They reference your stuff too
Loved the “Ruff Ruff Ruff” bit! 🤣 I am so down for more random ryan editing jokes
Definitely one of your more interesting "revisited" videos, so many good points about what you'd improve about the video and how the videos have developed the style they have now.
Watching these retros is a good reminder how much better you've gotten.
Yeah these old Pitch Meetings are kinda rough to watch.
It’s impressive. I’ve been podcasting for 14 years and I think I’m pretty much the same as when I started (if not worse). Some people are just better at learning and growing….
Retros...from 4-5 years ago...lmao😂 You kids.
@@bryanf6638 retro meaning retrospect...
@@jcabassi I don't know how much work goes in making podcast, but the way I imagine it it's at the opposite of what you need to progress quickly.
In short videos like this one, you do multiple takes up until you get it right, and when editing you put the spotlight on the parts that worked the best, and maybe even reshot the parts that didn't worked as planned. Said otherwise, during a single video, you are expected to make progress and to improve on your first try. And "scrapping everything you did and starting back from scratch" is a possibility that you might take multiple time per episode.
On a longer format, you usually can't afford to iterate as much. And it's even worse if that's live (or if you're interviewing someone), then you simply can't change what was said.
The editing section is soo good! Your new take on those lines made me laugh, your new writing is very effective.
I missed the last one that had the doc editing, but loved it. It's good insight! Top notch work as always.
the rewritting the old script part is fantastic. Love getting to watch your creative process in action and how you explain why certain lines would work better with just minor tweaks.
Hello Ryan George from the thing I just watched, I’m so glad I discovered this thing that you do. Getting through the day now is super easy, barely an inconvenience.
This movie holds a special place in my heart. Right when Thor along with MCU peaked, and I was in a transitional phase from school to college (in 12th standard preparing for Engineering Entrance exam in India) a lot was going on at that time but a hell good time to stay alive and return if ever could. 2017 is goated fr for me
I really liked it as well, it came out at a time when I was getting bored of the MCU
I'd been superhero fatigued long before this point (I was tired of superhero franchise movies around the time Iron Man 3 came out), but Ragnorok was definitely an exception.
You really are the best! Thank you for bringing the simple joy of silliness back into our lives.
Hey Brian I hope you're doing much better and just know that everybody loves what you do and we all support you and we got you back okay buddy❤
I’m so stupidly engrossed I was surprised he had time to draw two different pics and then I realized
Honestly same
Realized what?
@@LuisSierra42 That he wasn't actually drawing while the old pitch meeting was playing. It's just edited to seem that way.
@@BFedie518 🤣🤣
@@BFedie518WHAT? Are you serious? Mind blown! I didn't even know you could do that with editing.
Do you realize that instead of cloning himself, he could just have done this entire series with editing, that is wild to think about!
YES! Thank you! We get to hear the new line reads! I commented on the last revisit and you delivered.
Love the behind the scenes of how you did everything, Ryan! It helps give me a little push into my own dreams as a filmmaker!
I really enjoy these looks at older ones. It really does show how far you have come in a fun way.
I think the ability to criticize your own work constructively without letting it drag you down seems to be a good quality you have acquired over the years.
...and would you go to Prom with me?

Was a pleasure seeing your creative process. I think that making art is less of a lightning-in-a-bottle/work when inspiration strikes you, and more as a constant, never-ending job. Just sit down and do it always.
I love when Ryan just switches on his producer/writer guy
Kinda surreal to watch
Do one for the show Manifest! I feel like the concept lends itself well to a Pitch Meeting
Second this!!!
Never seen it but lfg!
Accidentally calling Screen rant the devil is tight!
Once again, that script-revision segment was a really neat and insightful peek into your (redoing) process, and entertaining to boot! (The live dialogue of script-writer guy and producer guy)
It is so fun watching you do the bits while editing your script

Dang Ryan having a conversation with himself as producer guy and screenwriter guy is hilarious. He can just turn them on and off at will. What an amazing super power
At first i didn't really care for these revisits but it's turned into one of my favorite videos. We just get to spend time with you as a person and its delightful!

Why else would we be here?
Who doesn't?
Almost as much as i love fentanyl
looking forward to see what slacks you've made by next time. loving the doc editing!
Never realized how much I expect the voices. They make them better but still a great bit
I think it'd be great if when you do these revisits, especially for ones without much movie footage, you could somehow edit in the scenes that are being referenced from the movie.
Love your content!
I had a dream about you recently where you were showing me how you made your videos but it was on a really nice in-screen porch. You were friendly but as you were talking I noticed the weather changed from sunny to rainy to snowy in 10 seconds. Then you asked me to come inside and it was a giant mansion, and you showed me your wife and your now, 4 kids. I had a nice conversation with your wife while you were playing with your kids. Then I woke up thinking to myself, "did I just have a dream about Ryan George??" The answer is yes, yes I did
I assume his wife and kids were just himself wearing various wigs.

Bravo, this is an amazing video, well done.
Loving the rewriting part, I feel like there is a significant difference in general between talking about how you'd change the pitch and actually going through and showing us how that would really look.
Absolutely love the re-write featuring voicework. Absolutely love it.
Hi Ryan thank you for all your hard work! Watching your comedy is super easy barely an inconvenience!

Love your videos! Please do a pitch meeting for Southland Tales!!! It'll be super easy! Barely an inconvenience. I am going to comment this for as long as you make these, until you make it. I will never give up. This is my seventieth attempt.
Impersonating me is super easy, barely an inconvenience
The “bless you” bit was gold though 👌🏼
I love the Google Docs part, especially when you get back in character to read out the new lines.
Whoa, during the edit you did an amazing impression of producer guy and screen writer guy
Hey Ryan I love your video's!
Can you maybe make a pitch meeting for The Bad Batch or The Flash (2014)? Or other shows like those like Arrow or The Clone Wars
That would be tight!
Yes sir, yes it would be tight!
To be honest I’d like to see him do pitch meetings for video game stories like Mass Effect 3.
TV shows are not tight, I think that's why he sticks to movies : even loose ones are like, 3 hours tops
Hi Ryan, I'm just telling you that I think I've already seen all your content more than 10 times, keep it up from Europe
When my brother went to film school in the mid 90’s, they were still learning how to cut film. Like, actual physical 16mm film that they would need to cut and splice together as they edited their film. Digital cameras basically didn’t exist outside of the largest Hollywood productions. It’s amazing how much has changed in the past 30 years.
I'm Ryan George from the thing you're currently watching.
Everytime you say that I think that your favourite Movie Band name idea was That Thing You Do.
"What if we call ourselves The Band You're About To Hear"
Hey Ryan,
You know how when CZcamsrs have been posting for a while and have a substantial audience, they will sometimes do a face reveal?
Could you do a leg reveal?
No, cause he doesn't wear pants! 😂
The laughter/clearing throat bit was my biggest laugh in the whole Pitch Meeting, but I think a big part of that was the way R.G. played it. So if we're focusing exclusively on the writing, I can see why it's worthy of being cut.
"But I was just a child when i wrote this
Not older than 27" i kinda feel the same way
😂😂
You know, it'd be cool if you did Pitch Meetings for video games.
He already explained in a previous revisited video, that it would be difficult to do that.
Start doing revisits of the videos on your own channel! I want to see how you came up with all the Naming Things videos.
I like how you address that in your recent work you aren't making jokes that punching down like some of your older work. The light spirited nature of your pitch meetings is something I really appreciate compared to some of the meaner past stuff. I also find these movies enjoyable, and making fun of some of the stuff in them is just finding more enjoyment in them rather than making fun of the people behind them.
