- Master drummer, band leader, composer and long-time instructor at Centrum's Jazz Port Townsend Jeff Hamilton led his trio through a swinging set of jazz standards and originals. Bassist Jon Hamar contributed a pair of soulful songs and pianist Tamir Hendelman thrilled the crowd with a lightning fast bebop original.
Hamilton's long history working with legendary jazz bassist Ray Brown's trio taught him that some of the best musical lessons come from playing with the best. He brings that wealth of experience to eager jazz students in Port Townsend each summer, and brought it all together on the main stage at McCurdy Pavilion.

No better drummer on the scene, today playing jazz than the marvelous Jeff Hamilton. He plays a drum set like a musical instrument that it is. You get the full spectrum of dynamics, technique and originality hearing and wtching Jeff play. This trio is THE premier jazz trio, today; unequaled to my ears. Great video. Thank you.
Thanks for watching Jeff!
Words cannot express how much I love JH’s playing and how much I want to emulate it. He is the penultimate jazz drummer; a product of decades of study, history, listening, dedication and just damn hard swinging. Bravo.
Yeah, that cat is a school, a legend really. He's carried Thigpen's fly statters torch on to the following generations with flying colors.
That "very last one" as Pat would say.
Great trio. That kind of video that goes to "Watch Later" (again).
There should be a button to like it twice.
Bravo!!!
why penultimate
The sound is so good. Refined and elegant. Pure joy.
Hi,I just love brush work in my 40yrs of playing ,his light ness of touch incredible a musical drummer with thought.
Jeff HAMILTON est le batteur au sommet de son art , son écoute attentive du jeu de ses partenaires confine à l'unisson du trio .
Pour l'auditeur c'est un chaleureux bien être d'écouter ces musiciens.
Encore merci 🇨🇵.
Pure joy to listen to such masterful playing on everyone's part.... Wow. Excellent!
Yep every one paying attention to the slightest signal from Iggy 😎👍
The first time I hear Tamir Hendelman. Perfect jazz and sound with 3 masters.
Very tight and boy, they swing hard.
Absolute bliss listening to the finest jazz musicians in the business.
I’ve been lucky to have seen the JH trio at least 6 times, and to have seen Tamir Hendelman with local bass / drummer twice. He has a very distinctive style and is widely respected in the world of jazz. There’s a reason he’s been playing with JH for over a decade; he swings really hard, he’s a good listener, and his technique is flawless. He has a trio of his own, and was called upon by Barbara Streisand to lead the orchestra for her first live performance in years. I’ve seen some great pianists (Gene Harris, Oscan Peterson, George Shearing) and Tamir Hendelman ranks right up there with the best!
Agree! Thanks for watching John, subscribe for more!
🎭 ‘Three guys sounding like a full orchestra !!!😎🎶⚜️
With brushes you can never destroy a tune. This is the way.
Superb swingin’ trio folks. G’day & Cheers!
Beautiful, sublime swinging.

Nice jam... Cool piano... ☮🔥🎹
Thanks for watching!
Tamir Hendelman's CZcams channel is like a ghost town. Depends on gigs and playing with other people to get exposure.
Amazing player though
It's up to us that like their music to spread the word about it.
i bet jeff could even make even a remo set sound good. 😉
It seems the audio was mixed too quietly!
Like silk
why the dfferent thumb nail pic. I wanted to see that other drumset with the really small bass drum
Hey Key! The images may have gotten mixed up, the performance you are looking for is most likely from his 2019 set here: czcams.com/video/BUaBJ_uNmRA/video.html
Это , конечно , заготовка , но всё-равно здорово !
is jeff playing a sonor?
AFAIK, he’s a Mapex endorser. We saw him with the B3 trio in Nashville before Covid and a Mapex rep made an announcement/introduction to that effect.
…
Technicznie bardzo dobrze, ale sama muzyka - donikąd...
I certainly don't have your fine understanding of music, but as a tone deaf layman I had lots of joy reading those guys.

For my part, no sarcasm.
I hope that despite the hopeless google translator, you will be able to understand me.
W pełni zgadzam się z Pana opinią. Wykonawcy to zawodowcy, ale ich muzyka nie przemawia do duszy. Pachnie jakimś bliżej nieokreślonym kłamstwem.
Does music get any better than this?
very ugly Tomholder ....
Bit boring but at least the prices of peanuts went up
Yeeeeeeeeeees!!!..that's swing!!!!
Thanks for watching!
