- The WDR BIG BAND feat. Jeff Hamilton on drums and John Clayton on bass with the concert "Clayton - Hamilton: Cologne Reunion". The conductor is John Clayton. The arrangements are by John Clayton. Recorded at the Kölner Philharmonie (September 10, 2019).
Many couples can only dream of such a long, varied and successful relationship. Drummer Jeff Hamilton and bassist John Clayton are on the verge of a golden wedding, so to speak. The two musicians are still bubbling with energy and zest for action. In the past, this musical powerhouse has not only driven many small formations such as the trio of pianist Monty Alexander, but also the "Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra", founded in 1986, which has long since become one of the most important big bands in jazz. Now the two gentlemen of the WDR Big Band are paying another visit. Even though they have played with almost everything you can imagine in jazz, there is no sign of fatigue, boredom or even routine anywhere. They will prove this in the new edition of this musical summit meeting with the WDR Big Band. Recorded on 10th of September 2019 at the Cologne Philharmonic Hall.

Thank you again, WDR Big Band. I'm listening now. Dec.31, 2022. John Hamilton & Jeff Clayton together again. What a night this was.. Beautiful ❤️ Also, what another sensational drummer , Jeff is!!! Hans Decker is also a little younger, lol. Hans is fantastic as all other muscians, composers in this legendary band. Miles took it. Well!! It has before, not only with Miles. Look closely at Mr. Hamilton's brushes, hear the swiches , the gentle taps. Now the sticks. Mr. Clayton is now on bass. This is too much. Lol Now with a bowe on his bass and Billy Test on piano. This is rain gently falling. The drum swiches again. They know the switches with all the notes.👏💋Two drummers now, when did that start? Buddy Rich and whom? BRAVO 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
