Imagine being these two guys. Just chilling out next to a river watching a couple of jet boats, and cracking some cold ones. I salute you two men. To relaxation.
We hired a jet boat shuttle for a Main Salmon raft trip, the jet boat jocky kinda shook his head when he seen all of our gear stacked on the beach. We made it fit and he got us back to corn creek with no problems. Those twin 460's sang all the way up the river :). What a great shuttle experience and it was only another $25.00 per / person more than the road shuttle would have been. Thanks for bringing back the memories!
Mackay Bar Outfitters & Guest Ranch, has two jets boats that I have been on while staying with them and enjoying their warm hospitality. They also have a great grass strip. Both methods to Tavel there are spectacular.
This type of badass boat saved a life on The flooded Yuba River in California this summer. For the first time in history on that River a rescue crew dashed up there and save the guy cleaning to a rock no other powerboat had gone upriver that far ever. The park ranger skipper at the helm is a gyro! Silly Google I said hero!
I've owned an inboard river jet since 2006 and have never been in water that swift. Good job I see these big old deep boulder rivers way out west and while we have skinny water and clear small mountain water this is a lot different than OK, MO, KS, and Arkansas. Your boats are a little deeper as most of ours would take on water if we had to turn out like that with that amount of flow. We also don't have the windshields with wipers for the cold water. I've threatened to put removable ones on mine for our winter weather which is usually brief but cold and very windy when it happens.
I love living in Idaho. I'm studying the Salmon, Rapid, Lochsa and Selway rivers right now. Just picked up the last piece of the puzzle to make the entire River Of No Return Salmon River with full maps. Just got the Gospel Hump Wilderness Map 1:63,000 and the Salmon River section is on the map. They are kind of hard to find but Metskers Maps has a couple left.
Up until last summer I always thought rapids was a no-go for a boat. It's probably because rapids around here are full of rocks. So last summer me and my fried were kayaking down a river and came down a rapid. We decided to land to rest for a while. Quite soon we saw a muscle boat coming up the river and this old guy basically hit the pedal to the metal and jumped up the rapid with three jumps in a boat :D I have never understood how that is even possible but I guess it is :D
I have 19', Mercury SPORTJET & its easier to go up rapids in a lighter boat. Bin there done that. Bucket List was to do all rivers in Oregon that went into Pacific. Rogue River is the best. Parked RV & Boat on gravel bar at state park 14 mi inland. Huge Salmon right there.👍👍
i would need a rollbar, safety helmet, and emergecy oxygen tank, before i drive those boats. hats of to the pilots of these boats, as it looks quite exciting!!
There is a sneak up the left shore where I used to run my 14 foot long Hewscraft with a 60 hp mercury with an outboard jet pump. No problem with 1 or 2 people.
Looks like the first one had about 6 people in his boat (Phantom 350 / Hamilton). Looks like just 1 in the Custom Weld (460 / Berk). If the avg. American male is 190 lbs., do the math.... [c: Nice vid, BTW
Cracking little boats. Wonder how theyd be in sea conditions.? I use a rib at sea but i dont think my 115 hp engine would cope with that river. Different strokes.
@@RandomRetallingsofRiggins that sounds right. Cavitation is easy to induce with an outboard. My engine wouldn't get a grip of that tumbling water. Not to mention prop getting wrecked on rocks.
why does the boat seemed to have more problems goin upstream after the "heavy climbing" part rather than the first part? in the first part the water stream looked faster whereas after the climbing the water is calmer but the boat seemed to struggle more just to move forward, how is that so?
Got some current right in the middle, but not much of a choice. Approximately how far from Riggins? There was.a guy that lived up the river close to those guys, that had a blast on jet ski type water craft,on that river. But them Hillbillies are mostly crazy anyway.
Please subscribe! It really helps!
Wow!

Insane man. Thats one pretty river!!
Whoa! That was Freaking AWESOME! That's a gutsy thing to do! I Salute You Sir!
Goose bumps! I like how he got more speed up staying to the side...motion marine makes a pretty sick jet sled too...
Very cool trip, great video. Please respect the water and that amazing river!

I'll bet that used up some fuel. I can't imagine what two 460's in a boat loaded with gear headed up river would be like.
can my
I would love to have friends that had a boat like that! Very powerful boats handling those Rapids!
Hahah the second boat, that big block torque!! I love it

Мощность мотора и профессионализм экипажа заслуживает похвалы.
I've lived in Challis and Clayton and enjoyed this river so much.

Looks like a blast and would love to have one ,,, wow
The power of that water is incredible.
most powerful thing on earth water
You’re absolutely right about the camera having no justice. What a rush that must have been. Great video

awesoooome!!!!!!would love to ride in one...OR OWN ONE!!!!just heard 460 power!!!!
That was pretty interesting to watch!
Man that looks like a blast
I have a shot of me on a 14" Cataraft completely vertical in this rapid. Kramer can be a BEAST.

The Hamilton jet unit, taking boats where you'd never image boats can go!
Kiwi engineering at its finest
Climbing with a heavy load, I know the feeling,my stairs are like a ladder.
that's superpower !! awesome🙂👍👍👍
awesome ! That water is swift !
Another great and informative video. Thanks!
Looks like a great time.
Very cool! Thank you.
that area already looks like perfectly good fishing spot,
that thing is amazing
that looks like a lot of fun...... ;-)
Looks like somebody's having fun.
lho yo good job misterbro with engine jet that use for big wave like good but when almost finish to droop hot mesin or sometrouble cool misterbro nice
I'm sure that's a lot more hairy than it looks if you were in that boat, that's some strong water there.
That’s intense , strong currents.
460 is a beast
Красота!
Ford 460 Big Block works every time :)

Qué increíble sonido ☺️
I imagine that boat is pretty quick on flat water. I can see fighting the current is somewhat tough, but climbing the hill is much harder.
Amazing
Ya know momentum is a good thing-
Throttle up early and push through it hard!
oh but that might hurt the back with the 6 degree entry and square nose of the lack of design engeneering on these piles
Most impressive , salmons can swim the river
No wonder they are exhausted at the end of it
a experience crazy
Good shit. Just all around good shit.
Wow didn't knew about this. I am fine with ocean but rivers always scares me.

awwsome❤️❤️❤️
Badass

Depends on the flow. And this rapid isn't particularly stable. Rocks seems to move every year.
that's awesome!!!
amazing o.O

UNDER POWERED BOATS ARE RETARDED ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVEN TO BE SOFTER VS STAYING UP YER VELOCITY
So cool
Hahaha! big RC boat style
Amazing!
Great 👍
wow!!!!:0!!!!
About hight did the boat climb over the rapids?
How much fuel did that big 460 burn playing in the run, they love that fuel .
Ary Meneses N Metrópole CE Brasil que linda aventura
MOOORE POWAAAA
0:34 me trying to run up the down escalator..
Not every day, that you got to make a boat do a hill climb.
Element of Kindness you were probably watching hill climb videos too when you got here
mantap juragan
jesus... that's so impressive
I am a VIKING
LOOK AT ME man. Var sa Squenka
What a powerful toy
Para vivir muchas aventuras en el agua
Even though the boat looks like its moving slow, its surface speed is actually pretty fast.
Wow it's more exiting than car race ,hill climb race
wow he's a good driver because I hit those rocks
I can drive 5his boat anywhere you want it to go!!
What engines those things got?
how much hp does a boat like that run?
How much did that fuel cost to get up that rapid
what are these types of boats called? they look like you could do anything with them.
Cracking little boats. Wonder how theyd be in sea conditions.? I use a rib at sea but i dont think my 115 hp engine would cope with that river. Different strokes.
I don't think a rib would work since I presume that it has an outboard motor that wouldn't be able to push the water in the aerated water
@@RandomRetallingsofRiggins that sounds right. Cavitation is easy to induce with an outboard. My engine wouldn't get a grip of that tumbling water. Not to mention prop getting wrecked on rocks.
Ok. Who left the water on again?
I like 👍
That's odd that it struggled like that, I wonder if his pump and impeller are worn out? Most jet boats fly through that, like it's not even there.
YTF wouldn't these boat be running a light aluminum LS, w/maybe a turbo?
In NZ we run a lot of ls engines. Supercharged not turbo tho. Turbo lag is not your friend in a jet boat.
лисичька - клёвая
why does the boat seemed to have more problems goin upstream after the "heavy climbing" part rather than the first part? in the first part the water stream looked faster whereas after the climbing the water is calmer but the boat seemed to struggle more just to move forward, how is that so?
On average, the boat is gradually settling deeper into the water.
Wonder what the bottom of the boat looks like.
The little engine that could lol
The boat needs more powah!
Great! What engines do these little beasts have?
I thought I heard him say 460 on one of them. You start them up it's near a c note.
How do you know where the rocks are ?
Muito bom
Awwww yeah, grip and rip
Where they going?
Intense
I would be to scarred to hit a rock or log in the water to go on a river that small with a boat that big.
Those guys know how to make their boats dance..
yeah bro I live in idaho... these guys are experienced but it does happen quite a bit.. I have a small jon boat for that reason :P
James F these boats are specifically made for this.
James F These are river boats, it's what they're designed to do.
They have very thick bottoms
I think this is how Lewis and Clark did it.
