    Radial ply tyres, ABS, crumple zones, anti-burst door latches, seat belts, safety glass - all these things were available but considered “too costly” - until manufacturers had their arms twisted.

    Hard to believe that helmets were not compulsory until was it the 70's?

    Motorcycles with stabiliser skids never caught on then.

    I wonder what they'd say if you told them modern cars prices and that people still die in them?
