I almost just decided to not do it. I don't like CVs. But I made myself play it. If I'm going to be a CC and they're going to give it to me, I should probably do the CZcams treatment and say what I think about it.
The CV commander is holding the Enterprise back. Zero options to improve on the bombs so you're only option is to focus more on the torp. planes and make your bombers as backup. Used Space Fishy and Raizo Tanaka as inspiration to make the torps fast and deadly.
King is not optimal due to the HE bomb buffing skills, but I don't think a commander with AP bomb buffing skills is enough to bring this thing to life.
4:41 pretty good against cruiser deck alright. But don’t forget that drop spread sure is a big sheet and not all of the bombs ain’t gonna hit. AP dive bombers sure have been nerfed a lot compared to HE. So yeah my highest AP bombers dealt damage around 9k to 11k if I’m really lucky. While HE deals like 16k without counting fire dot.
This is insulting, it was mentioned in AARON'S stream that perhaps WG is going to try to sell us a Commander to fix these problems. We'll see, as a Veteran of the US Navy I am not happy about what WeeGee did here.
I highly doubt a commander is gonna be enough to fix this problem. Everything is always percentage based, and it's really probably the 2700 AP bomb alpha that's the big issue here. Imagine they bring in a CV commander that gives like a pen bonus and damage bonus to AP bombs. What would the percentage be? I think 10% to 15% at the highest sounds very plausible. So take 15%. 2700 would become 3105. Certainly better, but still pretty awful on pen or overpen damage.
The best drop I've managed with the AP bombs was 15k which was pretty good but I only got that once with 5 cits on a bismark. Sadly they just did Enterprise dirty. I can still manage some good games out of her but most other carriers would just do better. Honestly if they wanted to buff her I'd say to make the bombs more accurate since 9/10 most of the bombs miss even on BBs which is just sad
Agree with your assessment of damage dealing, have to lean into the torps. I think it's a ship that CAN excel when top tier, and will struggle when down tier.
From what I’ve seen, it’ll chew through German BBs and Kansas, as well as any cruisers that don’t have enough armour to resist the drop. Tbh I’ll have both Kaga and Saipan in my port by the end of this update so I’ll probably just play them more compared to Enty
Odd choice of aircraft squadrons. It looks like a late war refit of Big E (hence massive AA), but late war she was pretty much a night fighter platform and carried mostly Hellcats and one squadron of Avengers. The Hellcat performed both CAP and strike roles...
Sounds like USA needs another CV commander. Since the patch I’ve actually found the Ranger effective, mostly around the HE bombs. Meanwhile, I’ve actually learnt to trust the Weser AP bombers, as they do plenty damage. A quirky dive angle that took getting used to. And at tier Vii, I’ve got the Pobeda. If you want to test a painful CV, this is one of those. It *blows hot and cold* . Decent AA ships delete you fast. I was out of both within the first third of a match today. But another match, very little AA …. where the Pobeda deals 20k with the torpedoes, and decent hits from the skip bombs (even if only 1 hits). Sounds like the hyped campaign will be a let down. Shame; don’t like to waste money.
I don't play CVs that much or even not at all but based on what I've seen so far from CC video reviews, it seems like Enterprise is a repeat of what WG did with Graf Zepplin. Premium CV that supposed to be better than its tech tree counter parts, but instead is kind of an anemic disappointment that makes you wonder "why did I put in the effort to get this when I could go play the tech tree version (i.e. Parseval/Lexington) which is better?"
It kind of is like that, but if I remember correctly, the Graf Zeppelin planes were terrible at turning around. At the very least, Enterprise does not suffer from that issue.
It’s honestly sad. The Americans are KNOWN for their dive bombers and yet this CV has mediocre bombs AT BEST. Sad. The things that enterprise did in real life with its bombers is insane. And yet in game, they can’t do much if anything at all. They should give us an option to swap over to HE bombers. Being able to set fires would be freaking amazing.
@Xarkun absolutely but wg knows they make more money with the way they did it because less people would have used the slot machine with enterprise there then with Vallejo there
I've been saying for a while Wisconsin would have been a much better reward for this campaign, it would have completed the sisters, and after all it's an Iowa class ship.
Agreed WI be a better pick, and its sad this could have been a good one, but because the way they did Enterprize she is worse the Tier 5 Ranger, to me,
Percival deletes Bismark or other German BBs in several drops. I ended up with almost 30 citadels. I don't say about fast torps to nuke DDs. Here I don't see a point of this ship. Bombes seem useless; only 3 slow torps.. Better WG would give rocket planes. I feel fooled.
If any carrier in the game deserves the ability to drop a massive HE alpha strike on opposing ships, it should be the Enterprise - go see what Dick Best’s bomber squadron did to the Japanese carriers in June 1942 at a little get together called the Battle of Midway. Why the Enterprise has AP bombers on console and PC makes no sense to me.
I think all cv's at t7 need their alpha buffed especially since they increased the restoration times. Last patch I felt that a cv's average end of match damage was in a good spot just the restoration time was making them broken.
I imagine they will. It seems overly cautious to me. After the CV rework and the massive damage apocalypse, they maybe didn't want to risk going overboard.
I wouldn't sell it. What happens if it's in the Santa crates or something, and then you get it back out of a Santa crate when you could've gotten something better that you would want?
@@Xarkun I hear you but I don't fuck about with CVs mate. Just not for me, would rather clear it out and get another T7 I had to sell previously to buy another ship for the Bureau to advance. It's a risk I can take. Sold last campaigns ship for the exact reason, got my Edinburgh back with it.
by far... the worst CV in the game.. makes no sense. talks up the AP dive bombers - but they dont penetrate anything.. and ive poured everything into buffing their health... they still get deleted by ships with low AA scores.
If it had been OP and nerfed later, a bunch of people would've cried so hard. Everyone loves balance when some OP ship dominates them. They absolutely hate balance if it takes away their unfair ability to dominate someone else, especially if they paid for it.
AP bombs in wows flat out suck, the fact they can’t light fires needs to be compensated by consistent damage and a potential for really high damage, not really low alpha and once in a blue moon getting a good strike off, I hate AP bombs they’re so bad
Yeah not impressed with her so far, this CV update also did not help, because now its back to plane saving something WG wanted to get get rid of or lower. this update has returned that, so that with lower damge per attack, and lower RNG. Makes do damage hard, and hotting worse. I was fine with the plane restoration in the last update. It was not as fast as first rework but now its back to being almost like it was before any updatesor worse look UK 4 min to get planes bacl most matches fo not last 5 mins. Why did this happen easy the whinners who said to much damage still, or my AA shoots down a lot but they keep coming, and all that other BS they give. Because a one CV main beat a BBs damage record and got butt hurt, and that player was not every CV player. Now CVs just watch are going to vanish again from top tier matches, but still be a huge thing at Tier 2-5 because this rework does not hurt them as much as Tier 7 or Legenday CVs, because tier 2-5 AA is not that great even built for it, but 6 and up AA is a huge thing,
If you have Graf Zeppelin. Don’t bother getting Enterprise early with your hard earned money. Graf Zeppelin has better torpedoes with more speed and more range. AP bombers are more accurate with smaller drop sheet and lastly… aircraft are a lot more faster compared to Enterprise’s aircraft. And my final warning with these both aircraft carriers. Both of their performances are mediocre compared to carriers because their AP bombers hit like a wet noodles

I can do this damage with HE bombs, and set two fire 🤷♂️

The torps are the only way I managed to get games in excess of 100k damage.

I've barely gotten citadels on BBs. Cruisers, yes.

Enterprise is in her 1943 configuration, she had a refit in July-November 1943 in Bremerton.

A different CV commander without skills to buff HE bombs would be helpful, but it would probably still need a buff aside from that.

£7 is worth it for all the other stuff you get and as a bonus, you can sell the campaign ship and get something you actually want

Yeah… Enterprise looks nowhere near good enough compared to Lexington or Saipan😅.
