As an Xbox player, I would like to say that we do not claim "[KTA] Sturmgewehr" and instead insist he is a mobile player.
I have no idea what the name of the player was. Didn’t pay attention because I’m not interested in like shaming him or calling him out name. The point of all this was to explain why I made the moves I made, because they were very clearly the correct moves. That guy didn’t think so from what I can tell, so I imagine there are people who will watch this on CZcams that will think similarly.
Maybe A.I. could adopt him 🤔

Perfect timing on this video. I’m normally a BB player but I’ve been grinding DD’s for the last two weeks because I didn’t really enjoy them, until now. I get called for support, followed by demands for intelligence data, then get a couple “Get Back” thrown in for good measure. And I may be the only, or one of two DDs on the team. Some players are just selfish and demanding. Some think you’re a personal DD body guard or something. I play with, and for the team. Have much more respect for DD players now that I’m playing them. Maybe that BB Captain should try it sometime.
I think a better hill to die on would be "Don't abandon your flank in the first 5 minutes". The first 5 minutes of the game is crucial in understanding how the other team is deploying. From there, you can then decide whether or not to leave your flank.
That’s a decent rule of thumb.
I completely agree. Perhaps if I may expand further to that, might be not to leave that flank, unless you've achieved superiority or supremacy over the reds on that side. What I mean is:
1. Superiority = you control that flank, eg taking the cap, and have good firing positions to control the area (doesn't mean just sitting in the cap), while the reds are usually sitting back and not actively contesting (this was how I saw the situation on A-cap in the video).
2. Supremacy = you dominate that flank, usually because all enemies are dead there, and there's no one to stop you (the reds achieved this over on C-cap, but too late to impact the game).
I suspect that BB player was wanting Xarkun to spot so he could farm damage, rather than the bigger overall goal of winning the game.

Poor Marlborough suffering from severe main character syndrome. I bet he was seething when he saw your name at the top of the board.
If I was that BB I wouldn't expect a DD to bail me out because of my poor positioning and anticipation. It's a Game of Domination with maintaining B cap as the next logical play.
Yeah, I really don’t get why that BB felt I should be pushing in to the enemy spawn with him in order to spot the red cruiser who had zero impact. I think I made the right call here, and the victory with my place on the leaderboard seems to prove that.

this happens to me a lot. i get dm'd by players who performed worse on my team AND even the opponent team even when my team wins and i get top of table. when i respond with this fact, they have no legitimate response. so i am forced to block these players in order to avoid catching the lack of intelligence disease. Im a 55% win rate player btw so think i know what im doing.😊
Just another reason to keep watching the occasional game on CZcams and be happy with that.

It’s a game. You can play how you like.
Equally I’m not sure if people are being angry and bossy or requesting help nervously - I like to give the benefit of the doubt mostly. Although I usually doubt myself as I’m new to the game.
So I plumed for a quiet game of Ghost of Tsushima, a game you needn’t get worked up about. And theres plenty of polite helpful people. … until we ran into a competitive guy from the states - not needed, who cares about the score, just enjoy the randomness and unfolding of the challenge. Been some years since we used to ramp it up doing it 2 man team only; try hard days over.

It’s hard to tell what someone means sometime with the comm wheel, but I thought this was a good match to show because the strategy you use in this game is not always obvious, you know? It’s a complicated game.

My cynical mind will always say your pessimism is correct and people get salty. But I’m a sucker and want to overcome the odds, always - so I find your video enjoyable and gives encouragement that you can still beat the game with a hampering. Well done!
I am soooo tired of teams which getting some advantage in caps, score or ships, start sail towards enemy to farm DAMIGE and offer themself to the enemy one by one, resulting in a loss while having an advantage in the beginning.
Don't try to understand them. you play the flank, then leave to help the other flanks. its a team based game, and some are completely unable to play with teammates. they are god and know everything better. He goes for a useless solo sailing session, and will still call your play a complete fail and waste of time :D
I’m pretty sure I understand the line of thinking on his part. Play your flank. Never abandon it for any reason. Push in when you win the flank. I think that’s the line of thinking, but you’re 100% correct. I wanted to put this video up specifically to show whoever is watching that regardless of your teammates being salty, don’t listen to them when they’re giving bad advice or asking for assistance it would be useless for you to provide. I think it’s a good thing I didn’t push with that BB. Otherwise I don’t know how I would’ve sunk the Sumner and I bet he would’ve gone on A. The outcome might been different if I hadn’t stuck to playing the objectives.
It's absolutely wild and I've been seeing it more and more lately. They're willingly surrounding themselves and possibly throwing an easy win to instead chase damage and kills. I just don't understand
Wish I could send you a screenshot. Just last night I was on the same map (Greece) and spawned on the opposite side. I planted my Boise right in the B cap, took it, defended it, and harassed anyone attempting to cap A or C. I ended that game with the only kills and only caps on my entire team (6 kills and 2 caps when I left to engage their sole DD on C). Obviously we still almost lost because you're not getting all the kills and all the caps for your team if your team is making the correct plays 😂

Draw an oval around the 3 caps and keep your ships in that

It's always in Elbing games, too. She's so much fun, but teammates always be throwing. Nothing brings me more joy than to open up on a 1/4 health Mino with that AP.
I’ve somewhat unironically called Elbing “the ultimate T8 ship.” Because it kind of is…. It’s like just really kind of good, you know? And very fun.
Sometimes I feel like the team cheerleader. Anytime I see anything even remotely resembling teamwork, I give them three “well done”s. I’m basically trying to will positivity into the team to prevent the throw.
I'm a battleship main myself, but I never intend to sail out to the map boarder in pursuit of the enemy ships. I consider that off limits and pointless for any vessel. There's nothing to gain from out there.
This game caters to a large amount of "questionable thought process" people.
This video right here, right now, is an example of why I never ever, under any circumstances wear a head set to speak or hear anyone in a match...ever.
All i want to hear is the guns, the engines, splashing water and the sound of my shells making contact, the occasional horn, and those pre-recorded whatevers....the yaps of all humanoids need not attend and this video is why...too many morons flapping their fly traps displaying their mastery of the Dunning-Kruger Effect to absolute perfection.

I do my thing, as best I can, applying the fundamentals I've learned from the great & powerful Xarkun and others, when the match is done, I'm off to the next one without speaking a word or hearing a word.

That is also why I’m not in voice chat. And you may notice that I rarely ever use the comm wheel anymore. Not to be arrogant, but I feel like I’m kind of an expert at this game by now. I won’t claim to be the best player ever because I’m certainly not, but I think all my knowledge on the sort of game theory is quite extensive, and even if I can’t always perfectly execute the proper tactics and strategies, I have a great sense of what they are. So I’m really not interesting in being pinged terrible advice by the blues, and I also don’t think anyone really has any good reason to listen to my pings in the game either, so I mostly refrain from doing any. I’m just some player like anyone else, so I’m not gonna inflict my comm wheel commands on my team mates, because if I were them, I wouldn’t listen to me either.
I always say nice work when an enemy dies or someone makes a crazy move and it works. Spread positivity not hate.
That`s why this game need a blacklist option so that kind of people don`t pop out on your games
Could be worse i just joined a game yesterday to knock out a few legendary games i had left before reset thought it was an ai match then realized it was standard after I died 😂
It can always be worse. And sometimes it is worse. That’s when you say **** a duck and go to the next match. 😁
Wargaming if you're listening. Please eliminate the "I need intelligence data" command! The pretty tracers dont give you a clue? The only people who use it are players who die early and provide the least amount of assistance to the team. All while being annoying as hell! May I suggest a stfu button be added to the wheel? 😂😂😂
As someone who has learnt a fair bit tactician wise from you, spartan, derka and a few others, dont abandon your flank is engraved in my mind. But even im not silly enough to do what that BB player was doing 🤦♂️. If people start doing that to me for no good reason, or if they ruined the game by ignoring their team mates and not fulfilling their role, then i just immediately block them. Id rather just not see them again than send any messages
Its not “don’t abandon your cap” its “play your cap” so many blue team players immediately don’t , so I think thats where that CC advice comes from. My thoughts
I don’t know why but every game I play I get pinged support that target like I’m famous or something it’s starting to get annoying
People push in for the damage and kills, it's that simple.
They are not thinking about the dangers of doing so or about what points the team is on and securing the win.
Essentially the same goes for those that don't push in, hiding out of the way for most of the match
They are not thinking about the win or how to play effectively, they are worried about taking damage/dieing while trying to sneak some damage/kills in especially at the end of the game when there team has lost because they didn't play an active role for the first 75% of the game
Most people don't look at the bigger picture, they just look from there own advantage point with blinders on.
I think the real thing with abandoning your flank is if you haven't won that flank yet. you won the flank and moved on. End of story.
That Marlborough must have used all 2 of his brain cells to simultaneously push a Sejong that can fire 32 deep water torps and complain about a DD carrying the game. Most BB players will either camp spawn or do suicidal pushes for no reason. I just can't take this playerbase seriously anymore
Yeah. That’s why I make stuff like this. Not to call anyone out and harp on them specifically, but to explain why I’m doing what I’m doing and why I think what I did in this match was correct.
You halten their push and flaking attempt over at C cap. That Marlborough chased a kiting light cruiser near the line and still tried to shame your gameplay...
That sarcastic "nice work" really bothers me. Nowadays everyone online has a big mouth about others being bad, but in the meantime they are probably around 48% winrate themselves. Yesterday I even got a DM from someone with a thumbs down, because I must have done something wrong. But are you really that sad that you have to send someone a message because you think that player is not good enough? how old are you? I sometimes get annoyed by the play of others too, but I keep it to myself. Nowadays to many people suffer from main character syndrome.
I don’t know why people do it. If you notice, I’ve gotten away from pinging the comm wheel too much. Occasionally I will do the sarcastic “nice work” thing, but only when someone is doing something super egregious. But the reason I refrain, and the reason I never send critical DMs to other players is twofold.
Number 1, epistemic humility. I don’t know everything and I’m not right about everything, so way should anyone on my team or the enemy team listen to what I say? I CERTAINLY will not listen to feedback from other players if I think the feedback is bad.
Number 2. It doesn’t help anyone. The DM who gave you a thumbs down in a DM is not offering you feedback on what you could have supposedly done better. All he and anyone else who sends negative DMs is doing is venting their frustration. Maybe it makes them feel better, but it’s useless to the recipient, and it’s frankly immature.

Being on top of the xp board and winning isn't an argument. i hear that from low iq players all the time when we know playing the objective is the main aim of the game, supporting your team can never be a bad thing I think the problem is narcissism so many people want to be the star and centre of attention instead of working as a team. I lose games all the time being sacrificed by a dd who asks for help, then drops torps and turns the other direction, leaving us exposed and dead if we turn another direction. Or a dd who sits in the cap in smoke and lets a dd slip by and torp his teammates, making their effective health pools irrelevant to the team and then proceeds to gaslight you in messages after the fact when we saw everything and did everything we could to be a good team mate. I say I want better for myself than to be toxic to my team and put them out there for the world to see, but atleast i got that W. 😂
14:15 Take a look at the position of the Marlborough and tell me a single reason he had to be near the border. A DD leaving his point to go after the only red DD doesn't equal to the BB death.
@mdabdale I'm talking in general, not to a specific match. I just had a useless dd who did nothing to help her team gaslight me and use the "I had more xp than you" argument. I'm talking to more arguments people make in general as a "own" to your target.
Ok, but obviously being top of the leaderboard is at least SOME indication that you've performed well. And that wasn't my full case for this match anyway. I think I pretty clearly explained why I did what I did and why I think the choices of the other blues were questionable. Again, the gist here is that we fully controlled two caps and the enemy team chose to push into the third. Why would the blues not sit back and defend what we already have? Why would they push into the enemy spawn? Zero gain, zero value. That has nothing to do with my place on the leaderboard, but it's obvious to me we would've been less likely to win if I had not done what I did. Also, I really hope this toxicity and narcissism accusation is not directed against me specifically, because I consciously try to avoid being both of those things. I will not refrain from harshly criticizing the actions of my team mates when I think it's deserved, though. I And I would expect to receive the same in return.

I would say he was more upset that you didn’t move out and spot the two ships that he could shoot at instead, you move the Charlie cab, leaving him blind You’re right he’s not being useful Tuesday but you abandoned the battleship making him unuseful to your team. It will take him too long to get over to Charlie cap to become useful.
I'd wager he had plenty of time to turn around and push towards B and C when he started pinging the map. by the time the game ended he was at the opposite border meaning he had more than enough time to come back to the middle instead of chasing the kites
Why would I do that, though? Those unspotted red ships were nowhere near the caps. They were much closer to the map border. There was no reason for that battleship to push in. Zero value. He was chasing kites, and I was playing the objectives.

They’re pushing in because they have no targets. You left them blind useless they might as well just return the port and let you be the one man army that you think you are this is the problem with DD operators you don’t realize they would not be pushing in if you were spotting for them instead, you’re trying to act like a battleship if you wanna play like a cruise or a battleship get one But if you’re going to operate, a DD spot cap them are your jobs not chase down battleships, and so long as the other teams destroyer is alive that is all you do
That doesn’t mean they have to push into the enemy spawn and become useless chasing down one cruiser at the back of the map, when there are other ships, on another cap, about to capture your flags.
All the battleship had to do was turn right and sail along their side of the map and defend. If he still wanted to push in, then don’t push all the way on the left behind the island where you can’t crossfire anything.
Xarkun made the right choices here at the end of the day. If he pushed the cruiser with the battleship, sure, they would’ve killed him but by that time the enemy destroyer and other ships would’ve taken all the flags and have island cover while Xarkun and the 2 teammates are in open water fighting for their life.
Nah, I think Xarcun is right in this instance. The blue team BBs weren't doing their jobs well. They were sinking (as they do) and not finishing targets off in a timely manner. Blue was three BBs down at 10min. That's not good; you're losing ability to lock down lines of sight as you enter the endgame phase--and most of your surviving ships are cruisers. You do not want to push into red BBs with cruisers. You need to defend the points lead and you're in a deteriorating position. Not sinking while fending off the reds becomes your priority.
They had no targets because the enemy team played passively until the end and did not threaten the caps. There was ZERO reason for any blue ship to push into the enemy spawn. All they had to do was stay put and allow the enemy to push in. Their choice to push would have lost us the game, and if I had pushed with them, I would not have been around to sink the Ohio or the Sumner, which is what I needed to do in order to win.
Interesting observations🤔...but nowhere near what I observed. I saw a Battleship abandon his flank and retreat towards B placing himself out of effective range to engage the enemy and not supporting his Destroyer. By the time he got around to sailing back to where he should have been already the cap was secured and the fight basically over there, with the red Cruisers in full retreat. Yeah killing the enemy Destroyers is of extreme importance no doubt, that's why you'll see my Battleship playing my spawn and supporting my Destroyers and/or Cruisers. In this match the red Sumner originally went for C but if he had gone to A there's a good chance Xarkun spots him and I'm gonna blap him hard, then my Destroyer has a much easier time taking him out. Your critique is confusing to me because I saw none of the things you're talking about when I watched this. I saw the blue DD playing his capture point with initially zero teammate support, capturing that point while spotting enemies that his spawn mates were out of position to shoot at, and moving on to where the action was and defending the B cap...finishing off the red DD in the process. Marlborough was late to the party and rather than consider his own poor decisions he chose to berate his teammate (who HAD done his job) and then continue to make more poor decisions like chasing Cruisers who had already given up and were running away.
