I've also just always loved that Brian is a crab. Like, Roger and John get to be massive threatening Lions. Freddie casts himself as a couple of fairies in yet another sly allusion to his sexuality. And then Brian, songwriting legend, guitar wizard extraordinaire, doctor of astrophysics... is a crab. A flaming crab mind you, but just a crab. I love it for the absurdity.
This channel has the most insane quality/views ratio i have ever seen. Well, positive at least.

So as a Kid I never knew Unicorns weren't real. In England, we sung the Lion and the Unicorn all the time in reception and pre prep and learnt about the Queen and looking at the coat of arms. So I grew up thinking, "Oh yeah, Lions, I saw them at the zoo, Unicorns are cool, super rare but, I've only ever seen horses along the road, I expect they have some at the zoo near the palace." I also thought all the dragons had just gone existent, why else would they be on the Cambridge shield.
Never saw the Queen logo broken down before. Fascinating. In parallel, there's a version of God Save the Queen on "A Day at the Races".
'God Save the Queen' is the closing track on the previous album, 'A Night at the Opera'. It's not on 'A Day at the Races'. However, both albums do feature the Queen 'crest' on their covers.
The 3D depiction of the Queen's Crest on the gate feels pretty majestic and not campy compared to the paper version.

as someone whose affinity for sports is nonexistent, I recently went down a rabbit hole of NBA team logos and was absolutely fascinated at the amount of disparity between the logo quality. Between teams who've moved cities and kept a now irrelevant + logo along with it (Utah Jazz, anyone?), or teams who look like their logo was made on a free trial of Windows '98, I think you'd really get a kick out of it.
Future logo shootout, maybe? ;)

Wow, every time I look at the Queen logo now I’m going to look at it differently. I realise now how cool it is.
I've been binging these videos all day at work and I'm just now looking at the view and sub counts and HOW? Everything about the video from audio quality to presentation implies a much higher sub count. This is incredible.

5:16 reminded me of the crest of Rhodesia on the 1968 flag, with the motto "SIT NOMINE DIGNA" - Be worthy of (your) name.
That's a good motto in my opinion, a reminder of having to do good.

Well the official achievement isn't the image you find when searching for it, but the blazon. The lion can be defined however you want it is still official. That is just the version that is most commonly used.

Thanks for the insightful and entertaining analysis, from the city of the iron-eating ostrich in the state of the red-horned, fire-spitting silver panther on green in the country of the stone-crowned eagle holding hammer and sickle with a broken chain.
The O.G logo is much better designed to my eyes. It's compact, fitting into basically a pentagonal shape. The shield is nicely central. Each of the elements is well weighted.
Queen's logo should have the Q in the centre, but instead has the crab leering out at me. The phoenix feels very detached/superimposed, while the fairies don't stand out at all. There's too much white space, and no defined outline.
When the logo is displayed with the word "Queen" below it, the ribbon Q is right in the middle.
I was gonna say the same - when the text "Queen" is underneath, as it was always used like that, it was very balanced.
Remember the Royal Coat of Arms is different in Scotland.

What a playful use of the two meanings of achievement and a great deconstruction of both pieces of heraldry at the conclusion of this video. I think it's a bit silly that they depicted England essentially twice on the shield while leaving out the Dragon of Wales. They could also put some leeks on the bottom, for the same reason. I also love most of Queen's music and their Heraldry is certainly majestic and fitting.

Technically that is called the Coat-of-Arms.
Yes there is a Escutcheon-only version of the Coat of Arms, however more generally, the Coat of Arms refers to the ENTIRE symbol.
Just like in Australia, the coat of arms of Australia, or officially the "Commonwealth Coat of Arms" refers to the entire symbol, with Kangaroo and Emu, while a Escutcheon-only version is jus the shield of Escutcheon in the middle.

I think based even just on the sheer redundancy in the design the royal coat of arms falls to Queen's.

On the band crest the negative space above the head of the lion on the (viewer's) right is very straight and in the same place that the unicorn's horn is on the royal crest. At first glance I thought it was a horn. I wonder if Queen did this intentionally to further mimic the royal crest.
I also always got tickled that FM wore that silver braded arm band much like the Order of the Garter circlet is worn on the arm or the leg of the monarch

Except the unicorn doesn't represent the Scottish, but the Scottish king. _He_ tamed the unicorn because he was so awesome and powerful. He was showing off by putting it in his achievement.
The British Monarchy started after the English Monarchy ran out of kings and begged the Scottish King to also be English King (see: union of the crowns; not to be confused with the Act of Union)

England had done better at colonising, including at various times parts of Scotland, but was lacking a king. I don't know if the slogans are really that outdated. I suppose God and my right is as outdated as the concept of monarchy.
I'd say "evil to him who thinks evil" is a fair motto that lines up with the concept of punishing crime. Bad things should happen to bad people isn't a controversial opinion. If anything with modern fights against racism sexism, transphobia, homophobia, islamophobia... "evil to those who think evil" is rather fitting and accepted.
"God an my right" just fits the royal family, who style have a strong religious position. Divine rights sure sounds outdated, but then we still have a monarchy so...

Haha - thanks Sam, not rude at all! It's something that I really could put some more time into to be honest - I tend to think of the thumbnail last, probably to my detriment. I will try to think more about my approach - I guess I hadn't thought about the tonal disconnect between thumbnails and content... you raise a very fair point!

oh also, i know that Jarvis Johnson changes his titles and thumbnails regularly to see if which get picked up best by the algorithm. He once saw that an underperforming video, went massively viral just by changing the title to something that was similar to anther popular video by a different creator. Anyhow that's just armchair theorising, its super impressive that your putting yourself out there and how much energy your putting into doing this, i wish i had the courage to do so one day as well!

Virility. It's actually a faux pas in heraldry to not give your male animals a big old dong. It can be interpreted as a castrated, lesser, weakened, emasculated animal.

I disagree that how you feel about a design depends largely on the thing the design is for. Am I the only person who appreciate a design regardless of whatever else is attached to it?
You wouldn't mount it as the badge on the grille of a car. It wouldn't work on a powertool, fridge or laptop. It wouldn't work as the sign above a shop unless it was dwarfed by the text, making the crest pointless at a distance.
