In this episode we work on Joachims 2005 Land Rover Discovery 3 with 265t km which was not maintained regulary on time. Interesting what we found wrong with it and how easy it was to repair. We show how to replace the serpentine belt tensioner, pully wheels, oil, oil filter, diesel filter and air filter. We also show how to measure the fuel delivery rate of the in-tank fuel pump and we inspect the alternator brush assembly - much more.
How you enjoy the video and thanks for watching,
Vera & Christian

From now on you will be called, the German doctor of Land Rover. German precision. All Sundays would be empty without you guys. Where is my coffee now☕. Love from Sweden 👍
Hi Christian & Vera
I was bed ridden for 6 months following surgery for bowel cancer.
Well! I found you on CZcams and decided to buy a Discovery3,found one local 23400mls!
Collapsed rear suspension. Because I wanted something for a project,I wasn't too bothered about what needed doing as I wanted to use it as part of my recovery 46kg from 75kg no strength (really struggled lifting a wheel).
I'm watching less TV now.
Managed to change all 4 wheels & tyres, and the air compressor, bodywork is good (black). Need to clean the leather inside.
But the results so far,I have gained 10kg in weight (aiming hopefully to reach 70kg over the next 12 months)the car is really helping me to gain muscle. I can now walk without a stick.
Thank you guys sincerely for helping me reach my goals. xx
Dear Christian and Vera,
Joachim is fortunate to have the best Land Rover people in Europe to sort out his Disco for him. Well done. Another wonderful video. Thank you.
That was a full day from Breakfast to dark. Good on you guys for doing it.
OMG! I have 6600-AB!! this must be ancient model, thanks for the inspiration folks!
Don't worry my friend I have the same as you, we have the reinforced one and for me the pressure is really fast every time I take the rrs, do If for you it's the same do change it you don't need, but if the next time you do a timing belt change you can change the oil pump for an 15 mm one... Cheers lander ✌️
First Class work Christian and Vera and I'm really loving the non stop off beat humour, you 2 could be comedians if you wanted to do something a bit different, thanks and drive safely
Really interesting - I have a feeling that we will be seeing a lot more of Joachim and his Discovery!
Thanks again for another enjoyable and informative episode.
That Disco is one of those few lucky ones that will go on forever. 😅🙋♀️Vera
In these troubled times your channel is a great tonic, great fun as usual 😂😂
That is most important. No one wants to watch boring videos. 😅👍🙋♀️Vera
Not only do I learn something from these videos, but I also get a laugh. Look out, Michael Mittermeier! Thank you so much.
After six hours of working on my Defender ( fixing MOT fails ) this is just want I needed to watch , 🙂.
Love the banter.
Another great video. I love your commitment to improving the reliability of older Discovery's. Keep up the good work.
As a Toyota driver I love to watch your channel - because of entertainment I lack in my boring, always working, never broke 4x4 :) See you on the track one day.
That was the session two weeks ago. Joachim was so happy, he still couldn't get the smile off his face. In Germany they say "If he had no ears, he would be grinning in circles". 😂🙃
😅👍🙋♀️Vera
Really enjoy your videos. Great work as always. 👍
Great video as usual. Keep up the great work 👍
Thanks for your videos; you both are great and it’s a pleasure, a learning and relaxing moment when watching your vids. keep going! All the best from Romania!
Thank you so much Edi, that is so so great. We really appreciate your donation. 😀🙏💪👍🙋♀️Vera
Great show as always ❤
Hi Christian and Vera,
another great video as always many thanks,
Very good and informative maintenance video. I will be checking all my differential breathers now.
Great vid. Every time I replace the air filter or once a year I spray half a can at least of EGR cleaner down the air intake - keeps my diesel 4x4 running sweet 🙂
Always good to see you doing the tests like the fuel one, he is so lucky to have you doing the service how it should be done, look forward to the second part
Good morning this Sunday have a wonderful day thank you again👍👍👍
Excellent video - as always. It is great that you share your Land Rover knowledge with other owners. Keeping the great Land Rover tradition going.
Great content, I learn something new each week.
Brilliant video gives me a great reference for our D3
It's so interesting listening too you both
Excellent video as usual, best part of our Sunday, was good to see all the regularly neglected failure items inspected and replaced 😊😊
Great Video from you both, Christian is very knowledgeable, keep up the good work.
Brilliant appreciate the detail in these videos!
Good evening both of you 🤩 What a fantastic LRT video 👍🏻 Vera is so sweet the way she helps 😍🏴
You're friends are very lucky to have you!
Great episode, thanks! Loved the CEE reference @ 17:21, another one of my favourite channels!
Sehr gut! 😂 I haven't even seen my hobby car yet in Australia but from your videos I already know what to inspect and check when I see it in December 👍
Love your entertaining instructional videos. I really enjoy watching you guys bringing these Lr3/LR4 back to live. I hope to see more videos that you replaced other major components of these LR such as cooling parts and even engine. from other cars of course 😆
Keep up the good work and thanks for the good & funny comments in the videos
Love your videos and you guys have a great sense of humour, I haven’t been to Germany in over 10 years but remember the good humour :)
Yet again another Brilliant video. You make me want to fix my own LR (if only I could )
Fascinating video.... OMG, I can see a new oil pump coming!
But not on Joachims Disco. Oil pressure is more than perfect, running 5W40 now, and it got a new oilpump not that long ago. 👍💪🙋♀️Vera
Wow! Another excellent video Vera and Christian, 👌👌👌with loads humour and fun. I also enjoyed Joachim's joke, the London train stations announcement "Mind the gap". Thank you again for the video. I can't wait for the next one. 👏🙏
Great Video .............. well done
All I want for Christmas is a Christian and Vera as my neighbours!!!!!!!!!! Great video!
Excellent work
that , the greatest channel about LR , I love watch You :)
Hey you two! How lucky is Joachim to have your expertise on his doorstep. Preventative is always better than repair, so good job Christian. I really do like the setup that he has in his boot, all that food made me feel hungry 🙈. Looking forward to part two on his Disco. Take care
Well done guys , 🇬🇧
Thanks for the video, excellent content.
Great job folks!!
Great video, nicely edited.
You guys are amazing
You guys are so funny and entertaining. Much love from the US.❤️
Another great service, on someone else's car, keeping the brand alive. Well done.
Such a great video. Wow thanks guys.
V & C- I’m newly addicted to your wonderful videos. Your playful interplay and wonderful senses of humor shines through. And I am getting lots of great knowledge on dealing with my LR3/D3. Christian, your impish jokes, deadpan delivery combined with your accented English reminds me of my German professor in university 35 years ago. (RIP Dr Werner Radke, SJSU.) You have a very similar way of dropping knowledge and himour. 😂
That's great, hope you stick around for a while. We upload every Sunday. 😀👍🙋♀️Vera
Thank you from South Africa
Great video.
Superb once again..
I enjoyed this very much!
Omg the knowledge of this dude
Nice video as usual !!
Repairs with friends are always better than by yourself. Add refreshments and the chore becomes a social gathering to fix and laugh at their broken toys. Good fun
Great content again and this D3 will certainly benefit from your magic touch 😁also loved the way Vera was supervising and checking your work with the Haynes Manual 🤣👍great rear set up with the pullout table and everything clearly adding at least an hour to every job for all your coffee and snack breaks which is why this will be a 2 part video, nothing to do with being a first responder. There was more food than parts on your parts table 😎 🤣
That is how it is supposed to be. I am always hungry. Fabian only comes with a bag of goodies for himself and we have to do all the work. I am loving my Land Rover friends. They take good care of me. 😅🙋♀️Vera
Another great video guys thank you! You have some very lucky friends to have you on hand to help with their Discovery maintenance. Hope you managed to find space on your roof lining for the OMG patch I sent you 😂
😀🙏👍🙋♀️Vera
Brilliant, thank you. 🏴
Thank you.
love your video here in scotland
Well done again guys gawd another thing to check on my discovery breather 😰 I’m just back from 700k trip to see you guys 🤞 my new alternator lasts as long as my disc cheers again looking forward to next Sunday’s vid cheers from down under
😂😂you guys are amazing I always get a great laugh and learn something new
A few weeks ago we saw Christian check the Discovery 3 dipstick, so we now want to see Vera make coffee.
😅We check the dipstick all the time. 👍🙋♀️Vera
Asalamaleikum from Kosoves. You made my day, Keep good work ! Allah is with you. Inshallah
Another excellent video - thanks guys. Had to laugh when Christian mentioned dont forget if you place a rag in the intake pipe to remove it before you start the car, I am in the process of changing the radiator and did exactly this - forgot the rag was there and started the motor. Dash lit up and car stopped within a few seconds, luckily I used one of those long spring devices with claws to remove it before the turbo ate it for lunch. Rag looks in tact havent yet started the car but think I am safe.....rookie mistake #1 with many more to follow.
💯💯💯 Great video !
Ok. I became a patreon! I’m in the lane rover club, filming stuff to launch a new channel but you guys are my absolute favourite
😀💪🙏Let me know about your channel. Which Land Rover Club are you in. I will contact you through Patreon soon. 🙋♀️Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian oh I meant the informal club of all us owners not an actual club. But I must join one! As I say to my friends, my Land Rover is for fixing not for driving!
You guys are fantastic I wish I was there helping
Great video, I've got a FreeLander 1 TD4 which I love, watching your videos tempts me to get a Disco 3 or 4 🙂
That is so great, I had a Freelander 1 TD4 for 10 years. We have a couple of videos on our channel. But sold it last year unfortunately. Miss that car, but it lives a good life now, going into the woods every day. The Disco is just about twice the size of a Freelander 1, you'll love it. 😀👍 🙋♀️Vera
Thumbs up.Very enjoyable vid.
Thanks.(uk)
Huge OMG at 4. 23. 😂😂😂😂. Well done on the fantastic kerrygold butter Vera.
I’m moving to Europe to buy an LR so I can visit you guys.
Vera I used to work with a German fellow in Los Angeles who’s dad emigrated in 1970 and guess what , he used to say oh mein gott ALL day long . I miss him so much he was hilariously funny.
If I watch any more of LR time I am going to have to buy one
😂👍🙋♀️Vera
Great videos
Great find for the oil pump number.
I have confirmed with my group members that oil pump casting number 6600AD was the first to have the stronger webs on the tensioner boss.
I had just someone commenting that his AD had the weak link and cracked. I am not ready to trust the statement your group memeber made, yet. 🙋♀️Vera
That was interesting, thank you! No way in this lifetime I could afford such a vehicle but it's really nice to watch you test drive it on a circuit. 😄Watch out for the Green protesters, indeed!
That breather tube contraption you have is interesting. The official updated one has been on backorder for me for so long perhaps I need to build one of these. Interesting solution, never heard of that...
The amount of knowledge that Joachim and your viewers witnessed and learned today was amazing. Soon you will have a line of LR's outside of your fence waiting for their turns on the lift for the expert maintenance/repairs that you provide. Did we see a new LR Time item that will be available soon? T-Shirts
This was only half of the job we did that day. We finished after dark. We also replaced 2 x diff oil, tranferbox and replaced the side shaft boot. Will be in a video down the road. Christian
We are not going to show how to make the coffee...😂. Very smart to cover the radiator while working on the engine. I learned this long ago after damaging mine with a wrench 🙄. Great video!
Hi Christian, Vera. Many thanks for the shout out of my channel in your video. The jump in sub numbers in the last couple of days is now explained. Looks like tomorrow I'll be investigating a major diesel leak on my D3.
😀👍I read your post. Usually, when I break down, Christian is far, far away on a business trip, mostly in the US. So I felt sorry for your wife. But I haven't broken down with my Discovery 3, only the Freelander and our Mercedes C Class. 😅 🙋♀️Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian lucky it happened on the day I was due to fly home, unluckily she only just started the school run and my oldest also ended up in hospital that day. Not much of a fun day
Приятно вашу работу смотреть , машину приятно ваши руки отдать .
Very nice Cheers
I was always told by Landrover that if you engine has done more that 20,000 gb miles then use 10 winter 40 oil thanks for the video i really enjoy these
Sounds good. Especially in warm climate. Christian
Hi Christian & Vera! My 05 LR3 2.7 went to the shop 3 weeks ago as it would not raise, they called me on Friday and said "we just cant fix it, the wiring loom is a mess and we just dont know where to start!" Im in Denmark, so considering driving down to you to make a great video on the "unfixable Land Rover" German precision needed!!!
Sorry to hear this but I got a full time job already. Did you check that red is black and plus is minus? Seriously, anybody with a wiring diagram and a GAP tool should be able to fix the system. Hope you can sort this out. Christian
@@Vera_and_Christian Now that sounds sensible, however im going full nuclear strip down, inspired by your own antics.. If only I could train the misses to put the parts in boxes... imagine the time you save. thanks for your great vids! ps.5w40 all the way at 370k kms.
Dear Vera and Christian, perfect inspection for Discovery :) i wish you would be a little bit closer. I would like to visit you to consult about our Disco, because obviously you know that you are talking and that you are doing :)
I am literally crying when you’re saying if you go to the Alpine, you don’t wanna get pulled out by a Toyota😂😂😂
Probably no worse than many others on the road. My Sunday is officially complete 😄
I think you've got half the landrover owners in the world going 'CLICK CLICK'! me included..just about to change my Auxiliary belt, the timing couldn't be better..thank-you once again to you both 😉
😀💪👍🙋♀️Vera
Great video, I wish you serviced my landy 😊
Vera get that CB done...... LG 7 on the 06.11.2022 in Gießen! Ausfahrt mit CB!!! Otherwise very interesting video on a Disco3 the whole reason I watch your channel 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I know, I have been registered for a long time already for that event. It was already posted a while ago on the DLRC Forum website. We have been to all of the DLRC events Hessen, ever since we joined, and love it so much. And, I have the CB already at home. Just need a mobile unit and Christian needs to install it this week. 👍💪🙋♀️Vera
Great work like, always, even though I don't understand much English, I always see you, for your great work, how meticulous you are with your projects and for the good energy you both have, thank you very much for what you do, it would be great in a future to be able to have subtitles in Spanish, they would surely reach many more people who love land rover to be able to enjoy their videos 💪💪💪
I think your English is perfect 👍 Christian

When a landrovers not leaking assume its got no oil 😂 great video as always.
Clickety clicks 😂 we call them ugga duggas here in America. I now have a new term! Thank you!
Ugga duggas in UK too 👍
I got to try Ugga Duggas next time. Do they convert 1:1 from Clickety Clicks? Don’t want to overtorque my bolts 😬😂 Christian
I drive a Toyota. I don’t know if that is the reason I have time to watch your videos? But if it does, thank you Toyota. Very entertaining video!!
good ! So many LR3 from ca 2005 to 2009 on the market have been really neglected in their services by their 2nd and 3rd owner, who just drove them, until government inspection (TUV/ MFK in CH) came up, and then they sell it, with >250 Kkm .
Yes, and exactly the same is happening now with the LR4's, as they get into the range of 180000km and upward. Being the early ones are now more than 10 years old. Wait for an upcoming video about that. 🙋♀️Vera
