Hi guys. Christian and Vera. I've been watching your videos for a year or so and really enjoy both your humour and skill you display., I am based in Oz. Sometimes smile when you mention your 16 year "old" Disco, I'm a proud owner of a 25 year old P38, 1/3 my age, which I've been maintaining for some 13 years and everything still works 100%, 202,000km How great these units are if you look after them and as you say, keep on top of service. Someday I might go the LR3 but but as mine is still so good, no hurry.
Better to get a Disco2. Much less complicated.
Since selling my Discovery 2 and buying a Toyota 4Runner 😱 my coffee tastes better on Sunday mornings watching your videos. Because I know I no longer have to do maintenance on the LR on the weekends. Funny and informative video as always! You two are great!
Well, Disco 2's were crap anyway. You did well to sell that thing.
Doing maintenance on weekends has always been an English car owner thing, tuning the SU's , checking the oil level in the carbs, making sure the brass tube from the engine to the Smith temp gauge hasn't sagged onto something hot.
I took your advise Christian and bought a Toyota Hilux SR5 2013.I have to look hard to find anything to fix, so usually revert to having a coffee. Enjoy your videos.Based in Western Australia.
So glad I found your channel. Just bought a 2005 Land Rover LR3 and am learning a lot here. Thank you!
Good point about older Mercedes. Someone once said to me that "quality is expensive but old quality is even more expensive".
Hi Vera and Christian, You either love a Land Rover or you don’t .
My dad owned a short wheel base series 1 , in which my brothers , sister and myself were taught to drive . It had no comforts , but I loved it .
The gearbox had no synchro rings , thus made changing gears a tad different , but she was very powerful.
Owning a Land Rover , either you trust the workshops , and have a “ big “ bank balance , or you love a Land Rover , as the both of you do and are able to do all repairs , plus machining , and improvising ( as we say in South Africa , “ n boer mask n plan “ - translated “ a farmer makes a plan “ )
Thanking you Vera and Christian
love your guys videos i have been working at an independent land rover shop for 8 years and have run across many of the same problems that you find. its a pleaser to watch other people that can figure out and repair problems with the land rover . i also like the way you dont give up but continue to diagnose and repair the problem .
👍🙏Thanks, appreciate your comment 🙋♀️Vera
I hope this makes you smile - I suffered several strange HDC errors on my 2011 Range Rover - I then discovered that if I leave the front door open (for maintenance) that my dog jumps in the car and crosses to the passenger seat to sleep in peace. The process of crossing over often means a paw on the HDC button. The problem is not entirely solved but is now an easy fix. Thanks again for another great video.
😅👍🙋♀️Vera
Another great video!
I have recently bought a Discovery 4, and your channel has become an invaluable resource.
😳...OMG...Thank you so very much. 💪🙏Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your familiy. Send me an email please if you want a patch. I'll be more than happy to send you one. 😊🙋♀️Vera
Quality content as always, “Bosch is Brembo spelled wrong” totally gonna use that next time!
My Sundays not complete without a visit from Vera and Christian. Thanks guys! ❤️❤️❤️
😅👍🙋♀️Vera
The Discovery 1 workshop manual is a sign from the LandRover gods, you definitely need one in your life.
'Bosch is just Brembo spelt wrong'. Thanks for clearing that up for me Christian... 👍
I’ve had a few Landrovers and loved them. I now have a Toyota. Christian and Vera, I love your videos and came to the channel because I was starting to forget how to fix vehicles😂
😂👍🙋♀️Vera
Hi again Christian and Vera, just a quick message to let you guys no my Disco 1 R Reg 5 door 7 seat is now 25 years old and Stihl going strong . Last year fitted my 4 th timing belt, all New hoses,New clips, New Thermostat, New coolant, Before the winter 2022 i serviced just the Engine and had my radiator rebuilt by a specialist 😊 Now it's 2023 change both axle oils, and both gear box oils . Iv had mine since it was 11 month's old, love this old Diesel burner , Stan .
That is awesome. Christian
I am in South Africa and have a 07LR3 3.0 and this helped me to know where to look. Front right drops while i go downhill
How did you know ? that we Toyota/Lexus techs are watching your channel. I don't know who's crazier, we
Lexus techs owning land rovers or being a full time land rover tech!! Both Nuts I guess. Then there's a guy
( christian) who works on them for fun :)). Great video as always, Thanks Christian & Vera
Without Toyota, we LR people would think that our cars are reliable. Thanks for watching. Christian
As always, I just love your analysis, your diagnostics and your solutions. Christian and Vera; you are a “Tour de Force”. Merry Christmas to all who enjoy LR Time.
I've never owned a landrover and never will but I watch these videos for the excellent creative content. For two native Germans making their videos in English along with the comedy humour makes this channel the best
Never seen this channel before, but you guys are great. I did not need to watch the whole video but I just loved your humour.
Oh that is too bad. 😢CZcams Algorithm takes it as negative response if vidoes are not watched through, which results in less exposure and for the video from CZcams. That goes for any Creator. But still glad you liked it, maybe next time. 😃👍🙋♀️
As a Toyota driver from Namibia, I enjoyed your video.
Another great video guys! I’m a new RR sport 2006 owner and these videos are proving invaluable to me..thank you and keep up the good work, entertaining and informative videos 🙌🏼
Another brilliant video from you Vera and Christian. I love you your great sense of humour. I can't wait for the next one. 👏🙏🙏
Vera: “You’re getting me OEM NOT aftermarket this time”
Christian: “But they make such nice, cheesy, cheap ones”.
I love this couple.
👍And I did not get the OEM one. But he tried at least. 😅🙋♀️Vera
Christian, you are a very clever and talented man. You are also both very entertaining.
Thanks for sharing
😀🙏🙋♀️Vera
Vera, I really enjoyed and enjoy pawing through car manuals and reviewing how it all goes together.
Thank you for the entertainment on a cold and boring sunday.
From Downunder: Thanks for explaining Snow. Love the videos.
Its like Christmas every time i get one of your posts VERA I ADORE YOUR ACCENT
It’s easy to see why Vera loves her disco so much it’s fantastic 👍
What a brilliant video guys. So entertaining and educational from a Hyundai driver! It brightens up a dull cold day in Northern Ireland. 🙂
😀🙏🙋♀️Vera
Great video!! Shame that this didn't happen last year as I had spare Original LR valve bodies. Sadly I gave them away. :(
Christian... well done... you have taught Vera really well!! She is learning to diagnose her own LR3. She will be replacing you soon.
😅👍 That's ok 🙏🙋♀Vera
So glad I stumbled across your channel. I´m currently looking for a disco 3 since my 2008 Corolla is not fit enough to make it to the cabin in the winter time. Also these sorts of videos are the sorts I want to see. Never have i seen a toyota related channel. Keep up the good work!
Im learning so much from your videos, it is inspiring me to bypass my new car warranty and dealer performed repairs to perform the repairs myself
😅👍 🙋♀️Vera
Nice tip on periodically changing the vehicle height to keep the valve blocks fresh. I experienced this issue a couple of years ago but the leak was much slower and took overnight to see any difference. Could never identify the leak so I took the expensive shotgun approach. Ended up being a bad air line from the block to the drivers front strut. The helmet is a nice touch. You win a safety award!
Excellent video guys very enjoyable watch, i'll start functioning my suspension more for sure. Keep up the good work.
Although we are driving a 1974 Puch Steyr Pinzgauer as hobby car, we still love your weekly videos as they are full of hints and tricks and fun to watch ! Thanks for this and keep on going in the same way !!
We love that rig👍. Christian
I could feel every Australian clicking their mice to change CZcams channels (LOL!) Great video, btw. :)
Correct we don't change our tyres for winter in Australia but we do know what snow is Christian! Another great video thank you Christian and Vera.
Evening Vera & Christian. That was a fantastic chatty video on Vera’s LR 😀
I’m enjoying these videos and thanks for being transparent about everything I don’t have a discovery yet but I’ll get it ❤️
Once again a great video love your enthusiasm and humour, from a mechanic with a 195000 mile disco 3 -and aToyota hi-lux owner
😅👍It's really too bad that the Land Rover is not in the Pickup Market with their modern vehicles. We'd love owning one. 🙋♀️Vera
You 2 are a great team, Happy Christmas
I really enjoy your lecture videos. Today, people purchase things that are disposable or they are just to lazy to maintain their purchase. Nobody wants to get dirty anymore. Maintenance and repair is a lost art.
Excellent video, very helpful troubleshooting.
Love it, excellent video as always, you two! Air related problems can be such a headache. I'm currently chasing an electrical gremlin - a faulty rear height sensor (wheel dropped on the 4x4 screen). I replaced the sensor... no result, replaced the harness to the sensor... nadda, now I'm tracing it over the fuel tank to the driver's side. One day I'll find it!
I love your videos. It always makes me laugh and you guys do not sugar coat anything. The real deal D3 which gets hammered with suspension fault. I think 1 important thing before you buy a D3 is to make sure you have a local independent Land Rover mechanics, not only that they repair Land Rovers, they also owed them. Luckily I have a trusted mechanics here in Huntington Beach CA " CARRS4X4. I have a 2006 HSE.
Oh my god. When he was explaining snow... 😆🤣
Once all the repairs to the LR are done, they can start a new business as comedy stars! Oh, I forgot: the first part will never happen 🙂
Hi guys
I drive a Toyota hilux Revo in Thailand, I can confirm it has no gas struts on the bonnet , but I never need the bonnet up so I’m guessing that’s why Toyota don’t fit them , don’t need winter tyres here the lowest temperature I saw in the cold season was 19c , it’s now 35 36 37c every day and the app says feels like 41c today, I only have iced coffee or iced lemon tea daily,
I’m new to your channel ( only a few days ) but it enjoy the content and the chat between you two , I was a mechanical engineer in the past and retired early (59) to Thailand almost 2 years ago , in Scotland I drove a Honda CR-V , I just love good reliable cars,
Keep up the great content, this is the second idea in a row that Vera don’t don’t swear it in 🤣🤣🤣 , I’m going to have a swear box here and every time she swears I’ll put 100 baht ( 2.5 € ) in it , I think I will I’ll have enough money to replace my Toyota Hilux by mid 2025 😂😂😂
Regards Davy 🏴🇹🇭🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Hi all great video.great to see vera assessing the problem.she knows her landrover.great great show.till next sunday take care.p.s got my lr times sticker in the post.thank you very much vera👍
😀👍That is great 🙋♀️Vera
Great work. Yep. Front right valve a past hangout of mine..best capable LR I had was a L322. No suspension worries but in winter the door seals would freeze so hard, could not open doors..and on the windy beach one time, sand in the door seals squeaked like mice so bad I had to pull over and use wipes to clean them! True. The best 4x4xfar !
Love your vlogs, so educational and funny!
Christian and Vera as a Toyota driver and ex LR Discovery D1 driver, I like to watch your channel. Because now, being too old to deal with the many maintenance issues that seem to plague the LR's I like to see what the Toyota has saved me from. I loved the D1, for the 10 years we had it, it was a most capable off roader, but it got old and me too, and would constantly have little niggly issues, (just like me).
Loving the content C and V 😂 you’ve helped me with some many problems I’ve had so far with our D3… I’ll have to check our air valves now🥺
👍😀🙋♀️Vera
Thumbs up.Another enjoyable,friendly vid.
Thanks.
Well done both another great video, I have the same problems when I have my Discovery MOT in the UK.
I feel terrible, I lost track of my owners manual for a while and was posting questions like that on Facebook...I'm ok now, my wife found it... we watch all your videos and it's so entertaining and helpful
I own 2 Landcruisers (HJ61 , VDJ79) and I don't own a landrover but I love your channel and it's great to be appreciated haha :)
😅🙏🙋♀️
Hi both, love your chat, laughs, and serious talks, It makes the world go round.. Talking about rounds, I owned an early 2-door plus back door turbo diesel Discover 5 speed, I did extensive welding underneath when I got It but had It for 10 years as my daily driver.. It was a 1991 model so had very little (Landrover word) ELECTRICKERY in It, Loved that car, but still ran happily at 240.00 miles had to sell It as It had a clutch and my bad left leg got worse in traffic using the clutch.. Where possible I made my own service tools for cam belt changes getting diesel pump Injection timing spot on so it drove very well. After a few years and looking at many Landrovers I ended up with a "HIPPO" a 2004 model Freelander automatic HSE spec that I now love except it's quite small to get in and out of but once In very comfortable to drive.. Has the BMW turbo diesel power plus its FBH (fuel-burning heater) to speed up engine and cabin temperatures.. Thanks again, Ian - UK..(aged 74 & 3/4s) lol
Thanks for the video Vera and Christian, I emailed you a link to some photos of our Disco in the snow here in Australia, pretty much the same as German snow, just upside down :D :D
Thanks for the walkthrough, I'm going to follow it very closely as soon as I find some time around doing family stuff, renovations and gardening.
😀👍got it and looke at the pictures. I actually zoomed into the license plates to check that you are indeed in Australia with all that snow. 😅🙋♀️Vera
What you said about ownership of luxury cars like Land Rover and Mercs is bang on esp ones with high milage.
Hi Guys! Yes I do have a Toyota (Land Cruiser 150- Prado) but I still watch ALL your videos and love them! My dream car was a Discovery (2 or 3) and wanted to buy a Disco 3 but decided not to because of the lottery of the crank shaft failures. Can't afford that. The Toyota has to have preventative maintenance as well but it's WAY easier than your magic. Keep up the great content. Peter
Hi Guys, new to the channel and absolutely love the way you both come across on film. Great content on your videos.
😀👍That is great, welcome🙋♀️Vera
I agree with you 100% about doing your own research before going directly to a forum and asking questions that have probably been answered 1000 times already. In fact, doing research is how I found your channel! Love it!
Google-ing it does not count 🙄. Christian
@@Vera_and_Christian I use the Hayes Manuel for repair purposes. Have a manuel for every car I own. Going to pick up a Gap tool in a couple weeks. Would have liked to have it before I purchased my LR3. So far the only repair I've had to do was to take care of the corrosion issue on the TCCM and connector pins. I actually found your channel looking at the different Android head units that are out there.
Loved your video a lot guys and also your humor 😅👍
Two thumbs up! Great advice as to who shouldn't own a Discovery or any other Land Rover product. Andy McKane, 9 January 2023, Maunaloa, Molokai, Hawaii
Have a nice day, thanks for the video 👏
I enjoy watching your videos while making & drinking coffee in my Toyota Sequoia
😅👍That's all we want. 🙋♀️Vera
Another great video, enjoyed watching it & the humour haha
Good content as always. Nice gesture from your subscriber regards the Haynes manuals. A Discovery 1 restoration project would be really interesting and probably easier than maintaining the Discovery 3 and Mall Crawler 😅
Love your content, well done.
Just so you know I changed the front value block on my disc03 2005 today and when I undid the tubes to the value block nothing happened, so undid the other two pipes and still nothing. The suspension stayed up.
So just put new block in its all working fantastic.
I really enjoy watching your videos as an owner of a jaguar Xj, although a different vehicle nonetheless very entertaining and informative.
Both mine and my daughters 05 plate disco 3's still have the original air struts, they look a little crusty but they still work fine and hold air.
Christain and Vera, you could make replacing a number plate screw look interesting, thank you ................happy i found LR TIME "oh my god " Happy Christmas 🙂🌲
Had to do front airbags on my L322, the only difficult part was freeing the strut hub pinch bolt that had rusted and seized solid. This was worse of course on the nearside. Needed a day soaking in penetrating fluid and then application of heat to finally free it. Repairs always seem to take longer than they should on Land Rovers! It’s just a shame that nowadays Land Rover engineers are more interested in design and attracting city buyers than investing time to ensure that the vehicles are easy to maintain. The engine bays are not designed with enough space to allow easy access. Great channel - always look forward to your Sunday videos.
In point Christian. I have Mercedes w221 and it's pain in the ass for maintenance but still love to drive it. Good scan tool is the key :-)
SPOT ON I HAVE 008 S CLASS, AND EVERYTHING NEEDS MAINTAINING, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GREAT VIDEOS HAVE GREAT CHRISMAS MICK
Just bought my first land rover 3 weeks ago 140,000 mile 2006 lr3. I have wanted a Land Rover since I was 15yrs old only took me 17 yrs to buy one after 3 Toyota pickups and 2 3rd gen 4 runners...I've had the lr3 for 3 weeks now and still have not driven it..just replaced all 4 air struts , compressor and valves, pcv, egr, and waiting on a thermostat housing...and even with all that I do not regret my purchase.
😀👍💪💪💪🙋♀️Vera
Hi guys love watching you two iv just built my old Land Rover happy Christmas and best near year
😀💪 Merry Christmas to you too 🙋♀️Vera
You guys are brilliant. Very funny too. The Toyota gags are killing me.
Good to see that you finally went off road in the Disco 4 😆
Love your funny videos...
You two should do a video on packing a dish washer and I'm sure you'd still have everyone watching
What your working on is one of the reasons I gave up wanting the new Defender. I considered ordering a basic 2 door with only coil springs, but thanks to TFL's youtube on the one they got that was exactly like the one I wanted that killed the whole thing. At 150 miles they had check engine light come on and they took it to Land Rover/Jaguar of Denver, Colorado and after a few week the brilliant factory engineers could only recommend that the 4 cyl. turbo engine be replaced.. So now I have a 2018 Honda CRV that I drive to Walmart and the doctor and being 76 years old I don't need to deal with any Land Rovers.
Love you guys. I have so much fun. Keep it on!😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
Great videos keep up the good work
Bump hat is new to me.very useful.i like the carhart jacket too. Only jacket the zip didn't break I owned.
Next project. Building a grab handle under the hood for Vera 😂. Great content as always. Also didn’t know M&S made snow tyres😂😂😂.
I love you guys you are saving my lots of headaches 🎉
😅👍🙋♀️
Christian you have perfect sense of humor..I came to read Toyoda comments
You are correct on the maintenence, I work on a few Defenders, people buy them thinking they are a Ford Focus, they don't maintain them, they fail to realise that they are a specialist vehicle requiring the correct servicing.
It also annoys me how people say that they rust, yes, they do but most are getting old, check out some of the Audi A8's that have their rear axle rusted away at 7 years old. Great video as usual 👍
Absolutely. Most people who write that have never looked underneath their own car, or are Australiens. 😅👍🙋♀️Vera
gosh this makes me smile.
Another great video guys you did miss one thing one of your number plate lights was out only the one side was working you guys don't miss most things take care
Great Vid ...........cheers me up that you love your Disco 3....
I "fixed" our 2010 LR4 air suspension by installing factory coil springs and shocks. I never have to worry about a failed air bag again, compressor or component. Ride is just as good and the ride height is fine for the places I go.
Love the channel. Very funny. I can watch and enjoy now that I no longer own a LR. Owning a Toyota is pretty boring, it's true.
My lr3 just got a suspension fault! ...I've changed the relay and now on to what I think maybe the wheel suspension height sensor...I'm new to all this but I think I need a diagnostic tool! But I still love my lr3 and love your videos! Thanks for sharing the info..hopefully get it sorted soon!
Yeah, a diagnostic tool is one of the most important tools to own. Then check out this video here czcams.com/video/fy_0ym793-8/video.html 🙋♀️Vera
Great video
Hoping you can use this to buy yourself a coffee, sit down, and watch videos of Toyota owners drinking coffee too.
😂 Lol. 👍
Great video. Suspension maintenance is so important with these Land Rovers. Some owners remove the air suspension an install coil! They should be ashamed. The factory air system is one of this cars redeeming qualities!! My I suggest more videos on air suspension. Maybe replacing Desiccants. I know you can see the air pump working with the gap tool but I always thought it would nice to have an on-board to know when it is running. That could be cool!! Thanks for your hard work.
The is a Facebook group „coil sprung Discovery“ 😳🙄. Christian
My disco 3 is 16 yrs old too , I never have these problems it's still going I never do maintenance only oil change and cambelts except this week I had to change the headlight bulb in 6 years of ownership this was the first headlight bulb I ever changed usually its the back bulbs that go yearly as long as it's only changing bulbs I can live with I hope I never have problems such as yours I now only keep the car to see how much longer it keeps going for lol... I like my old dirty rusty landrover I like parking it next to shiny new cars 😁 I watch these videos to keep for reference purposes hoping I never have to fix anything myself such as you do 😁
Vera great job at diagnosing! Christian, good job, Now I have to go film a cup of coffee......PS only 1 of your plate lights is working.
