    I rented a kona recently, comfortable, quiet, solid ride, sits four comfortably, decent trunk space. What more can you ask for.

    I don't agree! I love it! I couldn't wait to buy it. Bought in Orange! It really stands out and I bought the SE and it's plenty powerful! Speed limits in CA are 65 mph! It has lots of technology and style!

    Hi, from Japan!! The car is good enough for the family and commute car but I think most of Everyday Driver fellows don’t take it. They love driver cars.

    So, I guess you've never seen any of Hyundai's KDM or global products. The "Robocop" theme is present on several of Hyundai's cars; it even shows up on the Sonata. Reference the Staria, Grandeur, and Stargazer and you'll see where the Kona gets its design influences from. I think this is the direction their design is headed and they're slowly introducing it to the US market.

    I bet many of your audience doesn't even know what the "three on a tree" was. 🙂 (My new 1979 Ford F100 had a 3 speed manual on the column and it was around that time they stopped making them I believe.)

    My wife bought the base model 2.0..great car around town and highway, very economical..I will concede though no torque or acceleration. I wouldn't have it as my personal car but as as second car..no real complaints.

    I learned to drive with a car that did 0-60 in ~11s; this is positively athletic!
    Joking aside, you have to be very deliberate when you want to pass when you only have 117 bhp. It's not a *bad* thing on it's own - slow car fast and all - but you do have to drive around it. I would say, that that level of slowness wouldn't work in states with freeways where everyone does 80 mph - Texas for example. But in smaller states, it works just fine.

    Even though this wasn’t a positive review, still enjoyed watching it! But didn’t you guys like the HR-V with its 9+ second 0-60? Why not that over the Taos? I don’t get why they needed to grow the HR-V or Kona. Both manufacturers have 3 larger SUV’s. They don’t have a purpose in the lineup, like the CX-30 and Crosstrek do.

    In car and driver 0-60 test.
    HRV record 9.4 seconds. Corollar hybrid record 9.0 seconds. Corollar gas model will be over 10.x.
    According to this channel, those cars are all dangerous cars.
    Do you know the first generation Kona' design? 2024 Kona followed the Kona's design.

    It has me perplexed, I want the more driver centricity and styling of something like a Mazda CX-30. However, a lot of the standard equipment in the high grade Kona (dollar for dollar too) does seem to leave stuff from like Mazda in the dust kinda
    I'm probably still going to get the Mazda, but the new Kona seems like an overall improvement even if there were just a few misses on the design/styling

    Particularly on Hyundai/Kia's and some Toyota/Lexus, this no rear bumper thing is becoming the new piano black. One minor rear bump and the liftgate/hatch is damaged. I can only imagine the cost.
    And apparently the most inspiring car ever to Hyundai/Kia was the Nissan Juke...

    Not a hot mess, but this new version of the Kona is getting pretty tepid reviews. Hyundai has been on a hot streak recently so a stumble was, if not inevitable, highly likely. Painting those black fenders would really help the aesthetics.

    Great review, as always. I hate the exterior styling, but something about it reminds me of a BEV take on a Crosstrek. I also don’t think that car is a looker. But the Crosstrek sells like hotcakes.

      If 2024 Kona reminds a Crosstrek, Crosstrek copy the first generation Kona. Why?
      Subaru didn't use a big black plastic cladding in 2017.
      Just google it.

    I'm in amman jordan. We have so many chinese cars here, some are generic design. Some are interesting, some are just ugly. This Kona fits right in. If they sell this world wide, then the design consideration is a bit different. They are hitting some of the trends, the light bar across the hood. Those strangely places lights and ugly wheel flares like the ugly new toyotas.

    I don't love Hyundai's design language mostly. The Lancia-like Ionic is cool (although too big) but the rest are not my cup of tea. That said, I don't think this looks that much worse than others using the same design language.
    Being GenX, I do find it amusing the hand wringing in 9 second 0-60s. If you find that level of power 'borderline dangerous' you probably should hang up the keys! Anticipate!!
    This isn't an enthusiast car. Sounds like there is value for money for commuters. By your review, it sounds like this could be a decent car for that buyer. Not for us, though I hope they bring back the N.

    Yea this is a step in the Tesla Cybertruck styling direction. And a Robocop face. Hyundai gets inspired by everyone for style. They still have no identity. And when they actually design a car with their own unique touch, it comes out looking like ass.

  • @28481347k

    The Hyundai engine is terrible. I am stuck with my Sonata 2015 which had an engine issue and cost me $7000 used engine from my pocket to fix it. The engine failure happens in all models from 2011 to 2020 for varieties of models and brands like Kia as well. You can see the list on Google. The warranty is just a joke. When it comes to claims, for any reason they bring any excuse to deny you. For example, they ask you for all year's oil change documents and even If you don't show one within many years, they put their failure on you. TV advertising about a 100,000-mile warranty is just a joke to get the market from other competitors. Friendly advice, stay far away from the Hyundai industry. Pay just a little more, go with any Japanese cars.

    • @rinbine2713
      @rinbine2713 Před 2 měsíci

      Why they did it? So many american didn't oil change. like you. It is not the manufacturer's responsibility.
      If you didn't oil change, Japanese cars also cause an engine issue.
      Search in CZcams. Toyota engine or Honda engine.
      You can easily see.

    • @28481347k
      @28481347k Před 2 měsíci

      @@rinbine2713I think you didn't get the whole point. What I said is that the Hyundai dealers ask you for all oil change records for 5 or 6 years and if you lose only one copy of your oil change from your record, they deny to fix your car. The US should kick out this cheap junk Korean car from the American market!!! Hope you fully understand.

    • @rinbine2713
      @rinbine2713 Před 2 měsíci

      @@28481347k One copy of your oil change record is very important. Why?
      Hyundai don't know when you changed oil.max. 15000 miles.
      Didn't you want to lose the oil change record?
      Just use your Hyundai dealership. They also record.
