    The best channel for unboxing RC's Vas 100%.
    You're passionate and know the hobby through and through and your experience in an actual hobby shop is priceless.
    Arrma's vehicles are absolute class out of the box (especially the 1/7th scale, on and off road)
    100% on the Radio. The SLT3 is perfectly fine but as you said a truck this size and speed should have the DX3 with AVC.
    Also I'd love all the manufacturers, Bluetooth enable all radios to setup EPA and the like through the apps they have, particularly Arrma and T-Brand...You pay lots of money and you still gotta fork out more for that feature. (Yes I bought them cos' EPA's should be #1 on your list BEFORE you drive!!) Too lazy and old to program the hard way lol.
    Big Rock 6s is gorgeous (The body shell is something else!!!) and Arrma although re-hashing this chassis seems on the outside a lack of thought, I've seen how people treat the Fire team and this Big Rock with absolute contempt and it takes a huge beating !!
    I agree on your wish list. .I'm a fan of that motor/ESC combo..lots of power.
    Without seeing this thing in person I'm not 100% sold on bigger wheels and tyres but at least there's a ton of options out there. Something I never thought of, but can very much see your point.
    Nice work Vas,

    Excellent vid brother! I 100% agree on the motor issue. The cars are getting heavier but the power system isn't adapting to compensate for the extra weight. The result is the car lacks the grunt to bash properly. Don't want to go 8s... I think its overkill and too heavy. I would love a bigger 6s motor for these 7th scale trucks. I think it would benefit the cars loads.
    Can't wait to see it fly off the superman jump though. 😎👍

    • @AussieRCPlayground
      @AussieRCPlayground  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Thanks, I don't think 8S is needed either, simply a bigger can and staying with 6S is enough. 😎

    • @all-is-Grass
      @all-is-Grass Před 6 měsíci

      @@AussieRCPlaygroundBigger can motors don't do nearly as well on 6s. They overheat. I learned firsthand, and had it explained to me. Anything 1650kv and below in a sixth scale (45mm-49mmdiameter) motor and larger overheats on 6s. It stresses the bigger 6th scale ESC's, too. They get starved of power, creating resistance in the form of heat. It's like a big block V8 choking on a carburetor for a small 6cyl engine. They need 8s, and run cooler on it. It's math.
      The most power you can get with 6s, would be a 4092 motor, or a 4585 motor in the 1800kv-2000kv area with a Castle MM2 ESC. Max 6 size ESC's do better with lower KV, and need 8s more often than not. Max 6 combos run hotter on 6s. The best motor for a Max 6 or Spektrum equivalent is either a 1250kv-1480kv 4092, or Spektrum 1250kv 4685 on 8s only. Runs WAY cooler. 6s will only turn those into a burned, seized up crisp.

    • @AussieRCPlayground
      @AussieRCPlayground  Před 6 měsíci

      Interesting analysis. I've ran both the 4092 1650kv and 4585 1580kv Rocket motors in my trucks and have found them to be more efficient, run cooler and deliver more power. And all on 6S. I mean, I even used the 4585 motor in my Limitless and got that car to just over 100mph on 6S. That just goes to show how well those motors perform in bigger cars and without the need to jump to 8S.
      I also proved this by using the Hobbywing Max6 1650kv combo in my Reeper years ago and how much better it was on 6S compared to the smaller stock motor.
      I do appreciate a different opinion, but my suggestion for a bigger motor in these bigger and/or heavier trucks is not just an idea, it's backed by my own testing over the years with proven results. If you've had a different experience, than I don't know what to tell you... My testing shows otherwise. 🤷‍♂️ And I haven't burnt any motors in the process, either.

    • @all-is-Grass
      @all-is-Grass Před 6 měsíci

      @@AussieRCPlayground Well that's good. Hasn't worked well for me. Of course my worst experience was with the 1250kv 4685 Spektrum motors on 6s. Plenty of power till they burned after not much time into a single run. Yeah, I've heard of some good results from the 1580?kv Hobbystars on 6s. Anyway, I had it all layed out to me in math equations by a math wiz in my local hobby shop. Even my 1650kv 4092 ran cooler on 8s with the Max 6...and so did the Max 6. It didn't stress the drivetrain any more than 6s, and definitively ran cooler. I don't understand all the 6s only runners, too stubborn to even try the 8s to find out. Motors are sacrificial, but do better with more volts when they're in the larger than 1/8th scale sizes. But the 6th scale ESC's really benefit from 8s. My Max 6 went thermal on 6s with that 1250kv a few minutes in, but on 8s, it barely gets any warmth and runs the whole pack of hard running with ease. Guess I was just trying to get some people trying it for themselves. But if you're happy with 6s, then have at it.

    • @all-is-Grass
      @all-is-Grass Před 6 měsíci

      Aldo Loyal has even stated that his 1/8-1/7th built up rigs run much cooler on 8s. As far as stressing the drivetrain, that's what punch settings and trigger discipline is for.

    Yes , fantastic looking truck a gem . My thoughts on radio and motor, I agree with you but the problem is the price . For most people it is already a big investment, add the suggested upgrades plus 300 dollars would it still sell ? . At the end of the day sales are driving the price . Be interesting to see what upgrades will become available. Looking forward to seeing the beast run , easy on the gas 😊.

    Fantastic unboxing as always. Proof if it were needed you are indeed the Arrma MVP. My concern is that the chassis & brace are just not adequate for such an incredibly heavy truck. Shoot, I bent the chassis on my Kraton on its first run & that was a much lighter truck. An EXB quality chassis & better quality power system would have taken this to the next level IMO.

The Big Rock could not be more fitting of a truck to do so with. I really like the red body also it looks good in video a lot better then I thought. I may have to get one of these trucks I like the scale style body and Big Rock name. We will have to see how it runs. I agree a better radio should have been included and mabey a couple exb parts. Great unboxing as always Vas. I contemplated this or the new Kraton exb. I went Big rock only because I have so many other bashers that I thought it would be nice to have a scale monster truck. The body is sorta similar to the mt+2. I think they went with those size tires because of performance and not wanting to stress that motor out any more. Also bottoming out the shock. I doubt Arrma wanted to design a longer shock.
    Just my opinion. 😊

    Saw this in the flesh today next to a 1/5 EXB RTR. Its a big boy! And it makes a little more sense as to why its $1300...
    And FYI, the new Kraton 6s EXB RTR has the split and braced centre brace 👍

    • @AussieRCPlayground
      @AussieRCPlayground  Před 6 měsíci +4

      Actually disagree regarding the price. I think this is about $100-150 overpriced compared to the other cars, especially when you consider the Kraton EXB 6S RTR is only $50 more. This truck should either be cheaper or come with better gear out of the box - maybe a hybrid EXB type of car. It's definitely worth more than the stock 6S Kraton ($999), but not $350 more. Maybe $1150-1200 would be where I'd put it. Or, it can stay at this price, but it should have some EXB goodies (IE: shock towers, braces, etc) and the DX3 with AVC. Just my opinion...

    What a nice addition to your RC fleet. Those will be fun videos!
    About your comment about the power system; my personal opinion is that the industry is going in the wrong direction by making these beefcake trucks. The manufacturers are probably watching your videos and those of Eric, Rich and Kevin, for example. Although very entertaining👍 , I SUSPECT that it is not representative of how cars are run typically. Not many would upload a 4S track run because that's not very exciting to watch but a lot of fun in reality at the same time.
    I think it is a great pity that the most recent cars are unnecessarily complex, heavy and therefore expensive. Purchase, maintenance and driving characteristics suffer from that. For 800 euros, these cars become out of reach for many hobbyists unfortunately.
    But this is just my humble opinion...

    • @AussieRCPlayground
      @AussieRCPlayground  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I think it's like a dog chasing its tail. I don't think there will ever be a fully bashable truck that everyone will be happy with. The more upgrades they bolt on to these rigs, the more people will push them to breaking point (and then complain about it).
      The hobby has turned into an online "dick measuring contest" where every other CZcams creator is trying to outdo everyone else by sending their truck further than the rest. Hell, I'm sure even I'm guilty of it... And so manufacturers see this and try to accommodate accordingly. So, the cars get stronger and prices get higher. And the cycle continues... I remember when I was selling the Kraton V3 for $700 when I started with Metro Hobbies back in 2017, now the V5 is $999, and I'm sure the next version will be even more.
      Although I'm not entirely against price rises to justify improvements and extras with these truck, it's important that manufacturers remember to maintain a certain level of value. A perfect example is the radio included with this truck. Yes, it's an expensive truck and although the price tag may deter some buyers, people will still pay that amount for an RC if they see the value in it. I honestly feel short changed with the radio it comes with, no wheelie bar and electrics that are running at their absolute limit. And that tower-to-tower brace isn't inspiring a lot of confidence either. At this price point, I expect a little better.

    • @gerardscheffer8848
      @gerardscheffer8848 Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@AussieRCPlayground I fully agree with you. When Arrma releases a premium truck, you expect a well-thought-out balance between chassis and electronics.
      The point is that a car will always have a weak point, no matter what. It starting to irritate me that they are starting to become 'send it' trucks. Too many videos are about breaking RC’s apposed to just driving and appreciate it for what it’s meant to be, racing machines.
      Nowadays I prefer to drive my V2 Typhon. It is light, simple and has unparalleled driving characteristics. Arrma was always my favorite brand for those properties as opposed to their rubber-plastic counterparts. You know which brand that is.
      But everyone can do whatever they want with their RC. That's exactly the fun of this hobby. Thanks for your detailed answer Vas. I've been a fan of your RC channel since the beginning.

    Vas you’re correct, that’s why they’re geared so conservatively. I pushed 4074 much as possible because upgrading the systems are as expensive as a new RTR . For some reason the team corralled systems seem to have more power than other rtr . I had my infraction using whole packs with 27/46 gearing with lots of fans . Than I put a regular pinion gear 18t and esc went up in smoke , which made no sense . I think rc company are taking advantage of the 4074 been mass produced so long it cost them nothing, we would see big increases in prices With a bigger can motors , my Mojave is a tank always one hole shot away from blowing a diff with the big can motors it seems

    • @RcPlayer-tt2vw
      @RcPlayer-tt2vw Před 6 měsíci

      Also I think it’s counterproductive to go 8s adding so much weight really just for bragging rights or speed runs , problem is rtr geared for people noob and have to be . If they put a 8s esc than everyone will run 8s and still say it’s running hot 🥵 lol , but if you run less voltage throughout a esc rated higher it run longer and cooler so manufacturers just give you the most with the least if that makes sense

    • @AussieRCPlayground
      @AussieRCPlayground  Před 6 měsíci +2

      You'd be surprised how many times people would come into the hobby shop not knowing how to do the simplest of tasks on their RC.
      I once had a father and son come into the shop that had lost a wheel nut off their 1/10 scale truck. I got them a set of replacement wheel nuts and was about to go put it through for them when the father asked me to fit the wheel back on. I was a bit stunned by this, because it's just a wheel nut, but he insisted I fitted the nut on for them as he wasn't "mechanically minded". I put the wheel back on, fitted the nut and put the sale through. The father simply said "thanks" and went on his way.
      There was this lady that came in with a ECX AMP and was ready to rage with someone at the counter. (I was not involved in this one, but was told). So she came in complaining that the car she just bought didn't work. She was raising her voice and was visibly pissed that we sold her a faulty car (as if we did it knowingly). The person that served her asked her to demonstrate how she was plugging the battery in and powering the car on. She proceeded to plug the battery into the ESC and then turning on the radio. "See, it doesn't work!!", she said with steam coming out of her ears. The person at counter very calmly said, "well, you haven't turned the car on, miss". The end.
      I could be here all day telling you stories like this that would either make you laugh or make you roll your eyes in absolute disbelief. Although you and I might look at these instructions about putting the wheels on as a completely needless thing, believe me, they're not.

    WHAT ? Did you say this was a Premium truck over $ 1300.00 worth ??? Why is everyone selling them for $ 699.00 ???

      I think you might be confusing Aussie dollars with US dollars. There is a big difference in what we pay for these compared to what you pay.

    For the price it should come with a every tool needed to work on the truck and the zip ties should be reusable now this comment is late coming but lets not forget the radio and the messed up programming on the esc. Im sorry but for people like me um it's to expensive and to many shot comings to justify the price, it falls in the same category in my opinion as the X MAXX , cool possibility but really expensive.
    To be perfectly honest it just makes me spend less depending on what you have on hand, to buy Team Corally .
    I can buy some of the models as a roller and it would seem in my experience out of the box tufier. On the latest models so, yeah to a guy like me Arrma just is not what it used to be, don't get me wrong at this point if u got the money Arrma is a fine choice, but being a guy like me, knowing what I know some of the parts sourced are just crap, not a fan boy of any brand, they all have short comings, it just depends on the RC driver you are, but all in all Arrma is falling behind on basher field, it is a nice rc for some people, but why did they strive to make it so tuff them put a shelf queen body on it? Yeah you can put another body on it, but your screwed on the clippless body part, and I'm sorry im not going to drop over a grand on an rc and have to buy a bash body to run it before I do a first run, im not looking to start any argument, so I'll stop here, but it all adds up yo make me wonder if Arrma is going in to many different directions to be a leader in the section of the rc field that made them a leader to begin with, 3rd gen kraton was not scale, couldn't be categorized, and soled like gang busters. It was not perfect but tuff as nails and simply kept coming back for more, as a long time buyer of Arrma back to it's 2 wheel drive days when what you got was worth the price you paid, I simply feel confused and let down these days, I also jave to wonder if we as consumers are asking for a little to much, after all everything costs more to add on not to mention weight, i agree totally for the moment things are okay nothing like before but okay with the esc, motor combo that we have, but why pay for a big heavy RC when the most basic components that are absolutely necessary to run it to it's maximum possible potential comes out of the box weak and under power? Are we really supposed to buy a new body, esc, and motor to get max potential out of our rc's?
    Im seeing a slow but steady trend and I'm not the only one, the things that we are willing to pay more money for are not being made an issue of on normal stock RC out of the box, nope you gotta buy the next tier up so to speak the EXB or Ultra or Ultimate, why? Can't we just have a better quality rc without having to buy the other upgrades along with it? Why should this be so impossible to do? Let the buyers get the upgraded parts as they find nessisay not all that aluminum and metal is necessary I've actually down graded parts back to plastics, can someone please tell me why I have to buy a rc 6 to 700 or more in some cases just to not be happy with it? I don't care about bells and whistles i just want a great rc at a respectable price that does not need upgrades or down grade's after the first run when driving in it's intended environment.
    That's what this truck represents to me. Simply put.

    I was keen on this from the beginning, but it's definitely to overpriced for me.....realistically it should only cost $1200 max ...and what is even more annoying is the new Kraton 6s EXB will be $100-$150 more in price and its the same identical price as each other in the US, how do you explain that one 🤦‍♂

      I'm pretty sure I've seen the Kraton EXB 6S RTR priced at only $50 more that this. But yeah, if this was $1150-1200, it would be much better value and it should come with AVC and the DX3 radio as standard. I know the body has a lot of detail, but price wise, it's just a bit too high.
      The Kraton is not exactly screaming bargain of the year either, but it does offer a lot more by comparison.

      @@AussieRCPlaygroundyeah it's hard to tell what the final price will be for the new Kraton, some are saying $1400, and others are $1500. So who knows. I'm hoping it's $1400, I can deal with that with all the better extras you get.

      Ok, yeah, you're right. I just checked it again and Modelflight have it listed for $1499, but Metro Hobbies have it listed for $1399. Hmm, wonder who's right? Maybe they'll just meet in the middle at $1449. LoL. The $1399 price sounds way better. The Talion EXB RTR used to be $1299, so $100 more for the Kraton makes sense. Either way, it's crazy to think that about 5 or 6 years ago the X-MAXX was selling for $1299 (or there abouts) and ow these 1/8 scales are above that price and the X-MAXX $1999. The prices for some of these cars has just gone out of control...

      That’s insane the exchange must be different from USA money 💰 I can’t even spend the 1100 on xx maxx knowing I’ll need a few more hundred to make it perform like a 5/700 arrma

    Premium vehicle? Nah, just another Arrma with acceptable quality, crappy transmitter but very good rebranded Hobbywing electronics. Diffs on that thing are easily blown away, so watch your throttle finger.

    Take all that junk off the body and give me a wheelie bar and a better radio any day.
