Paul, in regards to the legality of butt ends, I have come across multiple referees at the HS level that say you must have a hard end cap that fills up the butt end. It's hard to explain over CZcams comment. I had the exact same tape job you use and I had to find a hard end cap that I could put on it, simply covering up the end is no longer legal there must be a hard sort of barricade from the metal of the handle. My quick fix - I found a quarter and put it at the end of my stick and put tape over it. Luckily I had the ref stick check me before the game even started.

I am starting to play lacrosse. And this really helped. Do you have to have tape on the but end or donut of the lacrosse stick

Played midfield back in the Marines, I used truck wheel spikes on my stick end.
Im a high school laccrose goalie and even tho im a terps fan ur still my favorite pro player.
I loved how you talked about the butt end because when I was playing a game I was about 12 years old I got the back end of s stick to the ribs, it went right under me kidney pads and fractured 3 ribs because the guy didn't have a piece of plastic or anything around the butt end of his stick
Our hs division I coach now can check any stick on the sideline as well, regardless of whether it is used in play or not. Which means I have to change my stick as a coach now, or not have it on the sideline because I have more than the max 2shooting strings and one nylon (I don’t have nylons)

If you score a goal and they usually check sticks after, if you hug your teammate or something when you score, smash the mesh against their back so that if they drop the ball in it’s less likely to be legal.

On our lacrosse team we used to have a problem with stick checks and it was costing us so what we did was we went to the refs during pregame to check our sticks and make any adjustments we needed before the game actually started. Keep in mind though I'm in highschool idk if you can do that in collegiate levels or not but it's always worth the try

Can you do an updated version of this video because I heard the high school rules changed. I have an HS spec rabil 2 and they said my stick was illegal, I think high school is the same as college now.

Don't quote me on this but I believe:
NFHS will be required to use the wider heads starting in the 2018 season, and also the bottom of the shaft cannot just be taped, it has to have a cover made specifically for the shaft, either rubber or plastic.

#askpaul hey Paul HS practice has just started and I noticed that I am significantly slower at moving the ball then them. I'm a 14 year old freshman that just came out of u15. I don't know if I just have to get used the the level of play they're at or if there are certain drills I can do to help me catch and move it to the open man faster. It may be a confidence thing too. I'm always worried that I'll screw up infront of my coach. If you could respond it'd help me out a lot. Thanks!
NoVak Gaming just worry about improvement don't worry about embarrassing yourself everyone will laugh and then forget in twenty minutes I threw the ball during a scrimmage and it was way off and then my friend who was playing pole on me pantsed me and my compression shorts went down too but I didn't get bothered and no one remembers it so I'm fine
