    Thanks for the lecture, I think Genesis is fascinating. But while I think that Genesis is a very important book that everybody should study, I don't think your casual dismissal of the theory of evolution or the "big bang" is necessary or warranted, any more than scientists' casual dismissal of Genesis as "just a myth." Evolution and creation are not mutually exclusive theories. You can easily apply the writings in Genesis to explain anything a scientist tells you about evolution.
    How was the universe created? The big bang, scientists say. Well then you can tell them God caused the big bang, and now both theories are satisfied simultaneously.
    How were humans created? Evolution, scientists say. Well then you can tell them God designed the process of evolution just as a mechanical engineer designs the process of combustion and gears turning in a car engine, or how a computer programmer designs a piece of software such as the one we're using to communicate on the internet.
    How were the stars created? Scientists can write entire books about how dust collects in space by gravitational forces, gases getting compressed and heated up until they start the process of nuclear fusion to generate energy. There's no need to dismiss that as nonsense, it's perfectly reasonable, even though it still does not explain who designed gravitational forces or nuclear fusion, you should be able to figure out Who that was from the opening chapters of Genesis.
    No scientist would claim that living things literally just came from rocks, that's absurd, and I know you said you were simplifying, but you really OVER-simplified with that comment, because it's much, much more complicated than that :)
    And generally scientists do agree that things always go from order to decay, not the other way around, just as you said. The 2nd law of thermodynamics states exactly that, and no scientist would refute that. So how then can order and complexity instead come from disintegration and decay? It's not crazy as you make it seem. If God can create something from nothing, why can't He also create order from decay? And of course after order is made from decay, it will go back to decay again, just as you would take a bunch of ingredients that aren't of any importance on their own, then arrange them in a structured way to make a cake, which is orderly and has a purpose. But then you eat the cake, and it gets digested and returned back to the earth in a random way, back to decay. Even if you don't eat the cake, it will go moldy and disintegrate eventually. So one can see how humans could be made orderly, from disorder, and then go back to disorder again.
    So really, evolution and creation are not mutually exclusive theories.
    I saw a funny T-shirt that said "And God said (And then Maxwell's equations of electromagnetic field theory were listed out) And there was light." 4.bp.blogspot.com/-BKieMmf_cBA/UHmU1tws4hI/AAAAAAAABc8/KBK2r3ONuzo/s1600/lettherebelight.jpg It's a nice depiction of Creation and Science working together to explain the origin of everything.

    • @johnc1014
      @johnc1014 Před 6 lety +4

      Thank you for your comment. However, your efforts to bring together this so-called "science" and the Genesis account is incorrect as the two are completely contradictory. Let's start with the Big Bang. While the theory itself is filled with holes and is bad science, the basic idea is correct. The universe began in a large explosion whereby it expanded outward at an incredibly fast rate (around the speed of light). What caused the explosion? Where did the matter and energy that exploded originate from? Genesis answers that: "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." If anything, the Big Bang is evidence of the Genesis account of creation. ............................................Now, regarding Evolution and Creation, the two theories are completely at odds. Creation says God created various kinds (Hebrew: "min") of life forms and each of these kinds only reproduces within their respective kinds. Evolution says all life originated from a single common ancestor. By the way, Evolution requires millions of years of slow gradual changes. Darwin even himself offered this as a way to falsify the theory. If there could be found some natural system that could not be formed through gradual accumulated changes, then the theory would be completely falsified. There are countless examples of exactly this in nature. Take a single cell, for example. It doesn't function except in its completed form. There is no way to "evolve" a cell. It must be created as is. .............................Your description of how stars are created sounds reasonable, indeed. But it is without any scientific merit. There is zero observable evidence of stars being formed. There are plenty of guesses and plenty of supposed sightings of this, but there is no solid evidence. It's all merely guesswork. ........................................... Regarding living things originating from rocks, that's actually a pretty accurate description of what scientists want you to believe. It's called abiogenesis, or life originating from nonliving material (i.e. rocks). The problem for the atheist scientists is that is complete rubbish. Life only originates from life. God created all life, as recorded in Genesis................................................................. Anyway, Creation is a far superior theory to that of Evolution. Evolution is so riddled with holes. It should have been discarded as a false theory long ago. It fails pretty much every scientific test. Regarding true science, it was long confirmed the Biblical account and deepened our understanding of the universe God created. Modern science was largely founded by strong Bible-believing Christians who sought this greater understanding. To them, the study of science was a form of worship. Since then, much fallacies have crept in and distorted true science. It's time we got rid of all this nonsense and absurdity. By the way, the Bible is not a science book, but it is scientifically accurate. God describes how he created the universe. From this foundation, we are free to go further and expand on our understanding of the physical universe through science. Using that knowledge, we can also apply it to create new technologies and better people's lives in this life. We use it to create better medicines, better buildings and structures, better transportation, etc. The possibilities are near endless. Science is an incredible gift from God that humans partake in. Sadly, those who hate God wish to use it against him and push people further away from him. For me, the reverse is true. The more I understand about science, the more awesome God is made. His glory is made known by his creation. Werner Heisenberg once said, "The first gulp from the glass of natural sciences will turn you into an atheist, but at the bottom of the glass God is waiting for you."

    Evolution does not theorize about how life begin. The theory only applies once life has started. It looks at how species change over time but not how they start. Those are different theories not connected to the theory of evolution by natural selection

    How can I change my religion into Christian?

    • @bibletalktv
      @bibletalktv  Před 5 lety

      Those who wish to become Christians must first believe and acknowledge their belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. The Bible then teaches that those who believe in Jesus and repent of their sins (in other words, make the effort not to sin) are then baptized (immersed in water) as an expression of their faith. This, according to the Bible (Acts 2:37-38) is how one becomes a Christian. I also recommend that you watch the series entitled “Christianity for Beginners” as a way to familiarize yourself with the Christian religion. bibletalk.tv/christianity-for-beginners

    Okay. I can't even get through this lecture because all you are trying to do is disprove scientific extremists that you think are trying to disprove religion. News flash, many people with scientific minds are in fact trying to do just the opposite. This has maybe 1% to do with Genesis and 99% to do with your rant about how science is wrong and how crazy peoples theories are. I came here seeking a nice easy way to interact with the content of The Bible especially because I'm blind In one eye and reading can be a bit slow and a bit of a task. I came here seeking the content of The Bible with an open mind for considering your take on it not your take on science and how wrong modern academia is sprinkled with an outline of Genesis.
    Less calling each other crazy and pointing fingers like the children we obviously are, more listening and discussing like the spiritually mature individuals we strive to be. I happened to make it through this lecture out of respect for what you are trying to do but I have gained nothing useful from it. I will give the next video a chance since you state that you will be touching on the actual text. Sorry for being a little harsh but its tough love. Thank you for taking your time to produce this video and share with us. However, I believe it goes with out saying most people here are not here to attempt to disprove scientific thought or religion but they are here to either be introduced to The Bible, to revisit and study The Bible, or to explore different mentalities. I can tell you right now that with an introduction like this you'll loose a lot of those viewers. As you mentioned the content of Genesis can be hard for some to take in and accept, especially if they have a different perspective on life then you do. "You are essentially saying, "Ohh thats nice you are showing an interest but guess what, you're crazy and wrong and heres something that probably sounds cray to you but except it as truth anyways." You reach wont many people like that. Science is a work in progress just as our understanding of life, God and ourselves is a work in progress. It might be tempting to say that the Bible isn't a work in progress and we should trust in it but the problem is our understanding of The Bible is a work in progress.
    I'd like to share a verses with you that I have come across recently that I think comes to mind. This verse from the King James version can apply both to our scientific progress and theories as well as our understanding of God and God's will and our understanding of The Bible in general.
    Corinthians 13:9-12 King James Version (KJV)
    9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
    10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
    11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
    12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
    I believe I've seen a better translation of 13:12 but I think this translation gets the point across. I hope that this reaches you well and that you take it as constructive criticism.

    Evil did exist before Genesis. Where did the serpent come from? The origin of evil is not explained in Genesis. Mans relationship with evil begins in Genesis 3.

    Please help me, the bible says "So God created man in His own image" but how did it happen? You say the bible explains how God created man clearly. This is very vague to me. You disregard evolution as nonsense but you give no example of how man was created and the bible is not specific nor clear to how it happened. How can you say the Bible explains it clearly?

    • @bibletalktv
      @bibletalktv  Před 5 lety

      When I say clearly I mean that the statement as to how man came into being is simple to understand, he was created by God. The Bible doesn’t provide the details as to how a pure spirit (God) brings into being a creature that is both physical and spiritual (something I doubt we could grasp anyways), only that He did so. For example, when a parent tells a 3 year old boy that he will soon have a sister, the fact that the boy is not equipped to understand how that sister was conceived and developed does not make the simple statement that he will soon have a sister untrue. He believes his parents because what they usually tell him turn out to be true.
      In the same way God gives us the simple truth of man’s origin so we can know and place this fact in a position to help us understand the whole of life. This is the essence of faith, taking God at His word.

    When you say science can't explain the origin of everything beyond saying it started with an unexplained factor "the Big Bang", the same can be said regarding Genesis. Yes it explains the origin of everything too, but not the unexplained factor of God himself. Where did God come from? It's a question just as unanswered as the Big Bang.

      +NoSoldat4u Actually, the Bible answers that question. God is eternally existing. He has no beginning and no end. And, there is no reason why he would need to come from something else. The universe is different. It requires a beginning as it abides by the laws and parameters of science. Matter simply doesn't pop into existence out of nothing and it doesn't exist eternally due to the second law of thermodynamics. Our universe tends toward a state of increasing entropy (or disorder). It can't be doing that eternally. Also, if the universe was eternal, we would never get to any point in history. That is because there would be an infinite amount of time preceding any event. Anyway, all this is to simply say that God does not come from anything, but the universe must. The universe must have a beginning and a cause that exists outside of the universe itself (otherwise, the universe would be popping into existence out of nothing). The universe has a beginning. We have the universe (natural) and it must have a cause that exists outside, or above, the natural universe (i.e. supernatural). Hence, there must be a god. I can give plenty of evidences as to why Yahweh, the God of the Bible, is the true god. But, this argument simply proves the existence of a generic deity we call a "god." This is why atheism, above all false religions is complete nonsense. To be an atheist, you basically have to say the universe popped into existence out of nothing.

      This is a common misunderstanding. Christians ask where did the universe come from if not from God? Science can not answer that question, so as a rebuke many atheists ask, if the universe came from God then where did God come from. The simple reality is that God is a creator, as a creator he does not have to obey the laws of his creation. Our universe has to have a beginning, but God does not.
      There is a simpler explanation though. Lets take the game "snakes" for example. It was created by a human, I think most could agree on that. In the game "snakes" the characters "snakes" do not have arms or legs so, everywhere they go, it is assumed they slither. To ask where God came from is the same as asking how the creator of snakes travels. He probably walks and does not slither. He doesn't obey the rules of his creation because he exists outside of his creation.
      Secondly all physicists agree on one thing, time is a matter of gravity. All peoples of pretty much all religions agree on one thing also. God is not affected by gravity, unless he wants to be. Because God is not effected by Gravity it can be safely assumed that he is not affected by time, but let me go further.
      Most modern day religions believe that God was the one who created time, if he created time then he must have existed outside of time, if time has a beginning then that beginning must not have experienced the effects of time there must have been a pre-time phase that transitioned into time. Don't get that wrong thats not saying there must have been time before time, that's just saying that there must have been a point at which time did not exist, this point would have been an infinite existence or lack there-of. Thus the assumption that God is the creator of time and that he is not affected by gravity, the source of time, we have to assume that he exists outside of time.
      The reason that anything has a beginning, or ending for that matter, is because of time. Without time you can not have a begging or an end; it's impossible. If something exists outside of time it is impossible that it has an origin, a beginning. Because in order to have an origin you have to have time. Thus we can conclude safely that God who exists outside of time has no origin. Simply put he does not play by the rules of his creation.
      In short saying that "God has a creator" is the same as saying that "the creator of "snakes" slithers everywhere he goes." It makes no sense what-so-ever.
      So asking "Who created God" or "Where did God come from" is the same as asking "did the creator of snakes slither there?" The simple answer is "He, probably, did not."

    You need a better understanding of entropy. “Entropy in closed systems cannot be reversed, but it can be reversed locally as long as it is possible to put the entropy somewhere else” (Quora). So we can evolve more complex systems from simple ones in spite of the fact. You shot yourself in the foot.
