Man every time I hear these electronic issues with newer trucks, makes me glad I kept my 03, I can still work on it myself, and the government is definitely not our friend
Bring it to Wisconsin. I’ll put a clutch in it for a case of Busch light and Costco roast chicken, clutch is $1800, in and out in a day, the endurant has shifter stalk issues, a lot of the electrical comes from the harness rubbing on frame rail. But when you get the engine/transmission speed differential code bs it’s the clutch. It’s sensing slippage. It’s honestly the easiest clutch job ever.
I would think if it were a clutch (ultra shift, correct?) issue, it would be shifting erratically or slipping. I am guessing a wiring issue and or control module solenoid or actuator for the transmission. The roads are so bad that everything takes such a beating. Check for loose wires going to and from the batteries including the ones going to the trans. Good luck and be safe.
Before spending 9k on repair and hotel, I would be checking all the connectors and make sure they are clean with no corrosion. You drive in salty roads during the winter and get your engine washed frequently. Check all your connections and like someone else mentioned, your grounds.
Be careful with these shops. I had a similar issue that you were having. I have a DT12 transmission. Shop told me a clutch was bad and replacement cost $5500. Took them 2 weeks and had the same issue 2 miles down the road. Then they said it was the shift controller. Another $4500. Got 60 miles down the road same problem. They held my truck for 6 weeks and eventually I just had to take it to another shop and needed a new transmission. I got a reman 17k. My opinion if you have the money just get a new one. These shops will waste your time and cost more money in the long run. I had 40k saved up and with the down time, repairs and life almost went to zero. Good luck to you guys.
Rent a car for a couple weeks , put the truck in the shop and go home or if you can drive it deadhead home and get it fixed at home . Cheaper to be at home with no rental car & hotel expense
I had 3 cylinders and my transmission go out on me back in april, 1 week later had a used engine and new transmission in after $25k. It sucks but you get thru it. Good luck to you guys
Kids, this old driver certainly feels for ya. I am so thankful that my last truck was pre-def and no computers involved. Yeah, we did not have gps or cell phones, but we could still make a good living. Maybe it's time to trade for a real good 1990 something Pete or a Freightliner. Good luck.
I am on my third automatic shifter stalk on my 2023 T680, when I have that problem on the road I disconnect the batteries for five minutes and it will reset for a while
We depend on you folks to grind it out. Our present leadership is ruining this country. It's effecting all aspects of life. I live right off the 10 in Southern AZ. I see you guys pushing those miles and I hope it never ends. Most idiots don't realize how they get their goods these days. Hang in there brother, been watching from Kentucky and now AZ for the last 5 or 6 years. Love the channel and your honesty. People are waking up, I know several lifelong dems that are as frustrated as we are. Stay safe Georgia
Hang in there! Count blessings. Modem FIXED. Close location and in stock so resolved. Wx great, no rain, snow, cold, or closed for long holiday. Dogs and you both alive and healthy. Being smart at best plan to resolve challenge from normal maintenance and heavy wear of equipment. I'm sure other truckers experience in much worse conditions. You all have my respect and admiration. Glad you are not stuck in middle of nowhere in middle of night in bad wx. You will do best thing to stay safe and secure while working through. Say little prayer. Can't hurt and got you this far.
Lita, Robert I am pulling for you. Hang in there and don't give up. Looking forward to the next video when you say everything is okay. Take care and stay safe out there. Prayers ❤❤
Take some time to go through the electrical system. Start at battery-ECU-to end plugs at sensors. Pull apart closely look at the pins for full engagement and corrosion, you may need to use your wiener magnifying glass to closely look. LOL . Clean up stuff and use some dielectric grease, but be careful not to over do it and make a mess. Getting to know your rig and how to maintain will take time and some patience. Good luck buttercup :)
You're right about it always being something... waiting on a power steering reservoir. After replacing 2 drive tires, quick release valve, brake chamber, muffler, steering u-joint. And my old tablet swelled up so much the screen is bowed way out and you can look inside and see all the guts. At least my new tablet is 5G so I'm hoping for some blazing fast mobile hotspot from it. And I bought a new printer as my Epson uses ALL the colors for printing black only so you don't "clog the printheads" from not using them. It won't let me print just black until I replace most of the color cartridges. I'm real tempted to do a "smash up" review of the Epson 7100. I think I've spent all but about $900 from my last trip's loads so I guess I don't get paid next month.
Only thing I can tell you Robert is check the plugs on the transmission modular and see if there's any corrosion. Check all the plugs around to transmission and it ECM on the engine and see if there's any corrosions there I wish you guys good luck
Robert, I know you are frustrated with the electronics on these trucks. Keep in mind that every one of these trucks has electronic issues. Even all the farmers are complaining because of electronic issues on their tractors.
Ima drive mine till something obvious happens. Im done chasing check engine and transmission lights. If it’s running fine and not acting up im sending it. There’s to many intermittent electrical issues in these new ones. I feel we would know if our trucks needed clutches. Just my thoughts. If and when it went out I’d fix it then
I been told with automatics in big trucks start at the battery and work your way forward I have a Columbia with an automatic and go through the same thing sometimes if the voltage is low it will throw a code
I have the same truck had the same problem first they did a clutch adjustment checked for air leaks then they found out it was bad clutches After that all my transmission issues went away
Dam. When it rains it pours. I feel for you. We get our trucks fixed and I almost die inside at the cost. And we’re a big company. I don’t know how y’all go do it. The margins are so thin right now.
I know its too late for now, but you have to take the out of the switch for 10 minutes and then cycle the switch for 10 times. The transmission has a mini computer and when this happens it's the computer trying to reset its self. You need to take the key out of the switch every time you turn the truck off. I drive a peterbilt and it has the same problem. The guys in our shop told me how to do it. It's the computer re setting itself. Make sure you take the key out of the switch when you turn the truck off. It sounds dumb but it works every time for me.
Sounds like possibly a bad ground or loose wire. While the truck is running shake the wiring harness around and see if the warnings come and go as you do. I'd start there, or replace the computer before throwing 7.5k at it.
also my 2015 579 acted up like that once and come to find out eaton had a bad batch of clutches make their way out due to a faulty cnc machine I guess and they ended up putting a new clutch in the truck
I know it's not close to ohio but there is a shop here in my hometown of Salem Indiana and they are all kenworth and peterbilt master techs who came together and opened a shop pretty decent prices they are called Salem Fleet Service
If the clutches were slipping, the output shaft would not be over speeding, it would be slowing down. Do a lot of research before wasting much money and time. Above all else, quit panicking and solve the problem with a clear head.
Hi, I really enjoy your videos! Have you had a chance to watch any videos on the new Tesla Semi truck, such as the Jay Leno video. Tesla is claiming 500 mile range on a charge with many fast charging stations in truck stops in the near future. I would love to hear your comments about the future of electric Semi’s. Folks in your business would hopefully find them more economical all around, both fuel and maintenance wise. Plus being able to charge and slow down with the electric motors, not using the brakes is interesting. Realizing that it may be awhile before your configuration is available. I am looking forward to hearing your informed reply.
I had that issue happen on one of my old trucks that had that same trans and it would do that ended up and have a slight loose battery terminal and it was freaking out the ecm for the trans
I say deadhead home and get Truck fixed Because at least you can work in other projects you have Going on and you know it Always takes a week longer than what they tell you it’s gonna take and it’s always better to be at home in your own bed than anywhere else
With the T-Mobile internet if your talking about the circular home wifi and it’s on a truck if the internet goes down on it I always turn it off and unplug it for 2 min then plug it back in and turn it on.
I hate those automatic transmissions 7500 for clutches is crazy. You can get a rebuilt transmission for like 4000 in a standard truck. Automatics forget it 12k plus. That sucks Rob I feel your pain brother.
I've got a 23 kw 680 auto as well. And every so often I get a fault for transmission. And won't turn over like a dead key. So I have to kill Master switch let it sit for 5 min and it clears the issue. And able to start again. Autos are junk

Maybe a change of fluid in trans and keep trucking👍 a manual 13 speed showed a code changed fluid and code went away came back year later changed fluid again code went away. A small slave cylinder if you have one on that could be low had a light come on for that fill it up. It was hidden near batteries believe it or not .
I hope you didn't believe what they told you. It's not the clutches. Its just a computer resetting itself. I have the same issue with this peterbilt. Peterbilt and kenworth are paccar. Let it reset and keep going.

If it was clutches. It would slip and not shift properly. Sounds like another dealer scam to steal your money.
