    This video is proof that 1984 was one of the greatest years in music ever, thanks for your work!

    I like Adjani's song "D'Un Taxiphone". By the way, the whole album was written by Serge Gainsbourg. And the video for the song "Pull Marine" was directed by Luc Besson.

    I remember playing EuroTruck Simulator and listening to a French radio and Precious Little Diamond was playing. Still love it! Tears For Fears as well!

    Thanks, Francis - especially for the bonus from 25:11, some of those songs were far better than actual #1-50 hits.

    Among all the songs I listened to in this video, the one I love so much is La valle dell'Eden by Nino De Angelo.

    Note: This isn't the only country in which both versions of "Self Control" hit #1: They both hit #1 in Germany (where they swapped the #1 spot) as well as Switzerland (where they swapped the #1 spot TWICE AND IN CONSECUTIVE WEEKS!).
    The instance in Switzerland might be the only time two different versions of the same song swapped the #1 spot in consecutive weeks... ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD.
    In fact, if you didn't to a video for Swiss #1s of the 80s, you should note that fact when you get to that point.

    Isabelle Adjani didn't know she was a singer too, most probably know her for the role in The Driver (1978) the Walter Hill directed action thriller

      It’s an absolute mystery why The Romantics and Al Corley didn’t make the top 40 in the UK

    Can you do one for 1985? It apparently has one of the most famous foreign 80s song here which is Square Room's by Al Corey

    No bucks fizz, guess the French were still angry over their eurovision win.

    • @knarf2570
      @knarf2570 Před rokem

      Rather less.... The ESC win was in 1981 with "Making Your Mind Up". According to your theory, half of Europe should have been "still angry" - including the Germans (#2 at ESC 1981), but "Making your Mind up" reached #5 here.
      Bucks Fizz had their last chart entry outside of the UK in 1983 ("London Town" D #66). From 1984 onwards they were only successful in the UK and even there they only made it into the top 20 twice until 1988. The band's successful days outside of the UK were over.
