I've found that it's a generational thing regarding the definition of "straight pipes". Older generations usually take it as "nothing in the way of the exhaust flow" where younger generations typically see it as a post-cat description, like catless straight pipe or catted straight pipe.

I have a pre LCI BMW 328i sport 2008 coupe with just a resonator delete and a muffler delete but I also have an n51 engine I have the three stage exhaust manifold and my exhaust system sounds 10 times better than this
