One of the World's Best Peking Duck | Visiting Vancouver's Chinatown

- As the new year begins, I look forward to going to visiting many new places and have been reminiscing on the buffets I've dined at over the last year. The Dragon Pearl in Toronto was fantastic and so was the amazing buffet in Queens New York; all of whom served Peking duck, and this spurred on my craving for some crispy, juicy, fatty Peking/Beijing Duck.
Luckily in Vancouver, there is a wonderful place for such a magnificent feast. Quan Ju De is a world famous Peking Duck restaurant with the first restaurant having started over 150 years ago. Serving approximately 2 million ducks a year, I was about to add to that number and make it 2,000,001. QJD opened a branch in Vancouver and I am grateful to give it a try. It also gets better because I'm joined by my two very good friend, Monique and her daughter Harmony.
But before meeting up, I thought I'd get Harmony some sweet treats and that would take a visit to my favorite donut shop which just happens to be in Vancouver's Chinatown. While exploring the Chinatown area, I worked up a bit of an appetited and happy to have found new stores opening up; one of which was a Singaporean Restaurant with great Laksa, Singaporean coffee - copi, and a fantastic pulled tea - Teh Tarik

Great video Tim, My Wife is HK born Chinese, I am Gwailo, We have eaten in almost every Chinese restaurant in Vancouver, but missed this one. We will go soon. Our favourite for Peking Duck is Floata in Chinatown.

Nice breakfast with coffee and tea that Peking duck seems so very delicious meal with the company of Monique and Harmony is just wonderful luv the dumpling noodles lobster and desserts especially the mango cheesecake mouth- watering indeed i feel hungry watching u eating all those stuff good day cheers
That was an impressive meal! I would love to travel there just to eat at QJD! The Laksa, hot drinks and donuts looked scrumptious at the other place, too! I love how thoughtfully you had treated everyone and the way Harmony poured tea for everyone. Everything looked clean, stylish and elegant. The service was excellent and even the waiter looked really beautiful! Everyone in the video looked gorgeous! I feel happy after watching this video! This Covid lockdown has made me appreciate how nice it will be to go out and to enjoy the company of friends and a fine meal. Thank you for making this great video!

Duck flippers are too wild for me. Peking duck looks amazing. 2 rounds of dessert works for me especially the strawberry and cream donuts. Yum!
We do miss visiting Vancouver. Your video captured the uniqueness of the delicacies and presentations of the food. We wish New Jersey has such similar establishment. Kudos to your professionalism.

Tim haven't seen in a while but I love how you just take your time when trying the foods!!I. Im still in hospice , can't go anywhere being bed ridden but know watching your videos , brings me much joy!!! I wish I would try some of those doughnuts!!

It was reported that the raspberry one was the favorite. Although they call them donuts, I suspect they're actually something called bismarcks. Stay strong Jessie 🙂

Another great video, Tim! Yummy doughnuts you got for the second dessert; you are always so thoughtful of others! You were only served the duck breast...what did they do with the rest of the duck? For the price you paid, they should have used the rest of the duck to make other dishes. I've seen other videos where they stir fried the other meaty parts and used the carcass to make soup.
Thank you Sally! They carved up the duck pretty well so we got quite a bit of meat there. They also gave us the bones to pack home for soup! I think that's one of the general ways they do it there, but yes, I do enjoy the multiple courses of duck at other places😋

Hi Tim, as soon as I saw the words “Vancouver Chinatown” I had to see where you were going. Wanted to be introduced to some great dining places in my old hood. Amazing food in all the places. Peking Duck is one of my top favourites too, can never go wrong on that dish but for that price for only one course of Peking Duck, wow, I better start saving up 😂

Finally you tried the duck skin + sugar, lol. The ZhaJiang noodle is one of Beijing's specialties.

Yeah the lobster was super Chinese Asian style so I wouldn’t expect people outside of Asian to like / understand it

This reminds me of a time I went to Kowloon with my sister and had Peking duck. They brought it to our table and carved off the slices and then took the rest away. I was upset I didn't get chew the meat off the bones, since we did buy the whole duck. I guess they make a soup or something else to sell and increase their profits. A rip off if you ask me. Delicious though.
