Homemade Way to Kill Roaches

  • I got a little fed up with paying the bug guy X amount of dollars to come spray for these pesky critters, because they kept coming back. Maybe he wasn't spraying enough poison; maybe my place is beyond infestation; but, whatever the case, I found this homemade remedy that seems to work well!
Equal parts of: Baking soda, sugar, and water. Mix; spread in areas where you have seen the roaches; watch them suffer.
I used 1/4 cup of the baking soda, sugar and water, but felt it was a little thin. So, I added an additional tablespoon of the sugar and baking soda - perfect. You want the thickness to be a little thinner than lotion.

+Erik Young thanks for enjoying my jokes but my motivation for being so cynical is partly born out of despair…i've tried several kinds of traps that i've seen on youtube and neither one works in my kitchen…. where cockroaches started gathering cause i am deliberately sleep deprived (by german hating people of camden in london) so i've no energy to make music, exercise, and do the house chores ….oooops…i'm not funny any more….nothing lasts forever…LOL!!!!

i tried it and its effective, when u mixed it all and make a paste you roll it and make a pea size or small balls and place it in the corners, near the trash cans, and other areas where you know the cockroach are hiding then leave it , after 3 days to 1 week you will notice some are dead and they disappeared ...... atlast my cockroach problem was gone..... tnx for sharing your video and make your part 2 to finished it so everyone can understand and be useful to them also.

  • @OnyxVixen21
    @OnyxVixen21 Před 8 lety +48

what I've been told is once the mixture thickens out you have to roll it into little balls, placing them in areas where roaches tend to be (under the fridge, under the stove, cabinets, etc.) not sure how long it takes to wipe em out but there is a guy that lives in my complex and swears by it. says that's how he got rid of the roaches in his unit and they haven't been back since.
hopes this helps solve the nonexistent part 2 of the steps!

I had a recurring cockroach problem for months, and tried various bait/poison recipes. I didn't actually try this one with baking soda + sugar, but tried 50/50 borax powder + sugar. The sugar bait was a FAIL. 50/50 borax + all natural smooth peanut butter (100% peanuts) worked better, but that bait soon dries, turns rock hard & stops working. Too much peanut butter. The WINNING FORMULA that eliminated bugs in my apt. was: 2 PARTS BORAX + 1 PART natural PEANUT BUTTER . Mixed thoroughly, it gives a bait that stays soft and crumbly, roaches eat, & die from. It's kept my apt. 100% bug free for 3.5 weeks, so far.

people stop cursing at this poor guy yezh! Here it is the proper way to do the bait but only works for German roaches which is the most disgusting common and the most annoying roaches, so the mix is only sugar and baking soda (this is your bait) you can put it on a gallon of milk lid then you gotta make sure you put the water on side of the powdered (do not mix the water, sugar and the baking soda, it won't work ) also on a small lid where the roaches can reach it.
Place the bait on where you see them often and then if you start seeing dead roaches then it works test it first and be aware this is not immediate result so be patience GOOD LUCK!

An open empty glass jar that held applesauce or spaghetti sauce put under the sink, will trap them, then put a lid w/ holes on and fill w/ water.
You can also take equal parts of powdered sugar and borax mixed in a Tupperware container w/ a small hole in it so pets can't get in it, and set it as a bait. Sprinklet in 4 corners of garage, and around your yard.
Also, cut off top of 2 litre pop bottle, insert upside down, and fill w/ food scraps or borax, sugar and flour. Bugs go in, not out.

you should try boric acid, it works well. I sprinkle it at night on the floor and the next morning I wake up and tons of them are dead. This stuff is great and cheap as ever only$2 a bottle at the family dollar. Trust me I wish I would have tried this stuff months ago. Sprays are way too expensive and can cause respiratory problems. The best thing about the acid is that you can sweep it up the next day, so clean up is a breeze. Hope this helps.

Ok but how long does it take? I’m literally watching a roach eat some of this as I type this out and it’s not dead

They have to drink water later on. Their bodies can’t handle gas buildup bc of their shells so as soon as they drink water they pop. But this guy is doing it weird

What I’m going to do is put a large plastic bowl lid on the kitchen floor. Sprinkle $2 boric acid for a huge bottle. Will last u. Use about 4 T. in a circle on the plastic lid. Then put the baking soda/sugar pea sized bits in the center so that they walk on the boric acid powder to the bait, eat the bait, then lick the boric acid off their body when they head back to their hotel. Hopefully, they share with their roommates.

Just used this. Made up a mixture and put it everywhere I thought they might hang out, I even tried it in a spray bottle for the hard to reach areas. Got a couple of squirts out then it clogged up. But on inspection this morning I found one roach, still alive, but its guts had burst open. Disgusting, but hey, it works and there are no chemicals. Not sure how many roaches I have, (or had). I also put traps down. I hope this works and I wont have to call in the bug man.

if it actually had their guts exploded that would be a nasty cleanup consequence!

      1) pics or it didn't happen.
      2) re: "no chemicals"-- you mean-- no chemicals that you personally find offensive or that are toxic to humans, fine. *Everything* is chemicals. You are a carbon based life form. Carbon is an elemental chemical.

Old post. Never took a pic. Not many bugs but I did see one with stuff coming out of its side. I'm no scientist but I put this stuff down the night before. I don't post false claims.

You had it right the first time, a 1/4 cup is a quarter cup! Where are the results? can't trust this what if it just traps a couple but attracts even more? I'm a tad skeptical.
