- BAKING SODA: Ultimate Pest Control For FLEAS, MICE, RATS, COCKROACHES, ANTS, BEDBUGS, CENTIPEDES...
Whether you use it for baking delicious desserts or making homemade cleaning products, baking soda is a common household staple.
However, Baking Soda has another helpful use, it is a popular DIY solution for pest control.
After all, it’s cheap, it’s readily available, it’s non-toxic, and it’s present in just about every home kitchen.
For some pests, this powder is lethal, while for others, it is merely a deterrent.
If your garden or home is overrun by a specific type of critter, discover if baking soda could be an effective repellent and how to use it to keep them out of your space.
1.
Fleas. In case you're ever wondering whether it is possible to get rid of fleas with baking soda, then the answer is yes!
For this flea home remedy to work, sprinkle baking soda on your carpets and furniture, then take a hard brush and rub it into the fabric.
After that vacuum your home thoroughly and empty the contents of the vacuum into a bag and place in an outside bin .
Baking soda dehydrates and kills flea larvae and eggs, preventing the outbreak from growing out of control.
2.
Mice & Rats. No one wants to have rats and mice in their home, and there are many popular methods of dealing with them.
Many people turn to baking soda as their first option.
Start by mixing a cup of cornmeal with either a cup of powdered chocolate mix or sugar.
Next, Add in one cup of baking soda and blend in well.
To make rodent traps, Fill jars with the bait mixture until they are about half full.
Place the jars in the areas where the rodents frequent.
This homemade rat poison attracts the rats with the chocolate or sugar and kills them with the baking soda.
The baking soda creates carbon dioxide gas when it reacts with the stomach acids of the rodent.
Rats cannot pass gas, so the carbon dioxide has nowhere to go and eventually leads to ruptures or internal blockages.
3. cockroaches. Baking soda has many uses around the home, and it also can be used to kill cockroaches.
However, the insects need to actually ingest the baking soda for it to be effective.
Once consumed, the baking soda mixed with acid and any water in the roaches’ stomachs will react and build up pressure that eventually kills the insects.
It may be effective in killing roaches, but baking soda isn’t naturally attractive to the insects.
If you’re going to use baking soda to solve your roach problem, you’ll need to mix the baking soda with something else to encourage roaches to eat it. Cockroaches are attracted to sugary and starchy foods, not baking soda.
The best thing to mix with baking soda to create a trap is sugar.
Combine equal parts sugar and baking soda in a small bowl and then sprinkle it in corners near your kitchen or other parts of your home where you’ve spotted the roaches.
The sugary smell will attract roaches to the mixture and lead them to eat it. Once they’ve ingested the mixture, all there’s left to do is wait for the baking soda to react inside the roaches.
Unlike chemical insecticides, baking soda is not an immediate solution for roaches.
It should take about 12 to 24 hours for roaches to die after consuming the baking soda mixture.
The timing may vary depending on how much baking soda was ingested and how much water the roaches have consumed.
To ensure you’ve gotten every last roach in your home, continue to sprinkle the mixture around your home for a few days until you don’t see any more live roaches scurrying about.
4.
Ants. You can use baking soda to keep ants out of your home or to kill the ones that have set up on your property. - Jak na to + styl
Rats can't pass gas. Good to know. My brain is getting bigger.
Lol😂
Borax works great for getting rid of fleas too.
A metal bowl, hot soapy water (I use dish liquid)..desk lamp near it...leave on in a room with other lights off...all the fleas will jump in 😊
Yes, tried it in the past inside home for fleas, they jumped right in, but I used room temp water, didn't know about hot soapy water then. Thanks... ~~~Peace~~~
Absolutely. I've done it. It works.
@@dlspeed1 just as long as it's soapy. I use dish liquid. You're very welcome 🤗
People use alka seltzer too.
Regular salt in carpet works like a charm on fleas. Just give the carpet/rug a solid sprinkle of salt and take a broom and sweep it in. Leave it for a couple of days, to give it a chance to work. Vacuum after a couple of days. A lot of the salt will remain in the carpet. Pets will not be harmed walking on it. Can be used on solid floors too, but is messy. Do not use in the yard, as salt will kill plants. Same with borax. I lost several wonderful plants because I didn't know enough to not use borax. Putting down styrofoam plates under chairs or away from pets that might walk in it or drink it, and fill with water with dish detergent in it. The fleas will land in it and won't be able to get out. If one room is a problem, close it off and put five or six plates in there. Using lemon detergent or lavender may discourage the dog from licking it. But it won't hurt them, and they won't be attracted to it. Check the plates daily. After two or three days empty the plates and refill. When you are catching no more fleas, it's done. May take a couple of weeks, because new eggs are constantly hatching and the pets may be bringing in more too.
I find that putting a small bowl of whiskey and a small bowl of sand in attic works good for ants!
The ants crawl along the rafters and drink the whiskey, they start fighting among themselves and start "stoning" each other to death with grains of sand! Lol
im in rural high rodent area and have 100% success giving them birth control. it takes 90 days to work but no cruel poisons or killing
Where do you get yours from? I was buying one from conntraceptol, but it’s a bit pricey.
contropest its pricy but not as pricy as chewed wires. i dont kill anything with feathers or fur im pantheist we are all ensouled
Awesome info!!!❤ Thanks dearly!!!
You could mix the sugar together with the soda with water if you are worried about the ants separating the two.
C4 Definitely Works On Pest 😎, Everytime
Thank You For This Informative Video.
Appreciate ❤
bed bugs, proceeds to show a tick
For rats, another thing that works is using cement powder or Plaster of Paris dry powder and mix that in with sugar or peanut butter powder.
Thank you very much I didn't know that this is working but anyway I will try it nextime
❤
How does that help
@@ninalugo8709 it turns their stomach into a brick lmao
My dad used to do this. I forgotten all about that. Thanks for the memory. ❤
Dawn dish soap can get rid of many pests. I just leavs a trail of it and it around and at some point it gets wiped up.
I made one about Roaches too
Diatomaceous earth helps too
⬆️ yes!
No it doesnt
@@aladrasullivan9018YES it does. On Bugs.
It has worked for me!!
Oh thankyou very much for that ohk see you bye love it
Silica sprinkled on as well as part of fertilizer makes plant leaves taste bad to caterpillars
❤❤❤Wow
Orthene 💯 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
I see people saying antifreeze and cement powder. No! Cruel and you cannot take the chance around pets. It’s not worth it.
Will it kill sparrows???
Do not add baking soda and flour to your garden unless you don't want a garden.
I thank this guy for ruining my entire garden.Thank you
❤❤
I used baking soda and brown sugar, but the ants won't come near it. I made it a paste but that just got hard and the ants ignored it. Confectioners sugar we do not have here on our island.
You can make confection/ powdered sugar by putting regular white sugar in the blender … I tried it & it works.
Borax, sugar and water research it

nice
Does this hurt dogs and cats please
No, cats and dogs can fart
Flies.
Copy that thanks!
Forgot the spiders ..
My worst problem is ants, cockroaches and spiders and I'm guessing that I have spiders because I have the roaches. I'll try the tip on the roaches and hope it works to get rid of both.
Have a professional exterminator bait your place with poison food for the bugs. Go to home depot. Buy glue traps. Put them in corners around your place. And buy spray foam to seal all cracks around you place. That will take time. All cracks. Kitchen sink, bath tub, keep them closed. Spray a little bug spray down the bath outside drain handle. If there is one. Seal light fixtures. Heaters, open and seal around them, the pipes. All it takes is time and money.
There’s nothing wrong with having spiders 🤦🏽♀️
Roach Motel, lol
Funny 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂
🎉
Funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My chickens love bugs
Loved the info.. but never kill ants ! 🐜🥰
Such amazing and hardworking creatures, they are !
I encourage ants into my home and their pheromones have become a natural cockroach and other bug repellant !
Until u wake up and they are biting you all in bed .. coming in from a storm
Bovine Scatology
Can the baking soda hurt Cats or Dogs?
No
Baking soda, honey flavored corn bread mix, savedmy farm from a rat infestation, the rats blew their gas out their stomach, works well!
Guess you were too stupid to have cats.
10 legs.. impossible
Will that work on head lice
If your scalp can handle Lysol or Mr clean, that will work on head lice. My hair is long and I had six kids. It worked on mine and on my kids head. The only downfall is it makes your hair very dry. Strongly suggest a skin test and then heavy conditioner. That is what I do. If you dye your hair it doesn't matter if you use head lice shampoo or what I mentioned it will actually strip the color. But it works. Don't let it get in your eyes and yes there is a way to do it. A shower cap is a must.
Wash you hear with a beer every day for 5 days
Diatomaceous Earth....is it bad for cats?
As long as it's food grade only. And when using it, make sure NOT t to breathe in the dust ...u or your fur baby.
ANDT HAVE TWO CYCLES ONE IS FOR SUGAR THE OTHER IS FOR FATS---- MIGHT WANT TO ADD FATS TO A PILE .. DUNNO DO KNOW THERE IS TWO CYCLES
What about spiders ? In our basement hate them
I use straight up spray to keep them away! Spectricide Bug be gone.. Whenever I spray I don't see any for 6 months at a time.
I live in WV. We have the huge Wolf Spiders. So I don't compromise when it comes to using chemicals when it comes to keeping them away! Lol
Mint oil
1 Tablespoon of Peppermint oil in a 16 oz. spray bottle .. spray into corners or anywhere spiders
or bugs hang out. Same in an empty dish soap
squeeze bottle squirt where mice/rats/possum,
snakes, cats etc. are seen outside. They can't stand
the smell and will stay away. Re-apply weekly.
There are also plastic cubes with peppermint
scented wood squares, you can reuse by adding
more peppermint oil. Also, soaking a rag with
peppermint oil and hang or tuck into pesty
areas .. also works to spray on your body or clothes
to keep mosquitoes away.
🌺
No help against black ants. Aha, I need to get some confectioner sugar
Corn starch!
Ants don't like cinnamon or cayenne pepper. :)
Up
Anti Freeze. But keep well away from Domestic Pets..
Laughing 😂😂😂😂😆😂😆😂

Does NOT work on BedBugs. And that's a Tick not a BedBug.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed 😂😅

@@robertearl963 I believe Diatomaceous Earth....Not sure.
