    IMHO, One should only comment on something like that after personally trying it out. I did, and regardless of where it is made, the price is justified compared to other guitars in Fender lineup (MIM or AM). Even the relic job is much better in person than in pictures. QA (frets etc.) is great overall and plays and sounds great. It really does feel like a vintage instruments when playing (great neck).

    The EVH Striped guitars are made in the same place and are 100 dollars more. Why the outrage? Its not a fender player strat that got the priced jacked up. Its a special guitar with great specs and a hardshell case. Mike said in the recent issue of guitarworld that he fought to have the price lower but they simply could not because of the cost of materials. If you have paid attention the cost of wood recently you would see that is true. Anyway with the specs, the case and the fact that its mike's guitar it seems to be a good price to me.

    • @jody7214
      @jody7214 Před 11 měsíci

      The issue with MIM is not the quality, it’s the resale value. You’re gonna pay $1899 for this guitar and if you want to sell it a short time later you’ll be lucky to get $700-$900 out of it. Same with the EVH @ $1999. No one is paying $1400-$1500 for a used one. Who wants to pay $1900-$2000 for a guitar that as soon as it arrives at their house it has already lost $500 in value.

    • @ToddH76
      @ToddH76 Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@jody7214 That is a strange reasoning not to buy a guitar. I also think you are dead wrong. You are completely underestimating the power and passion of the pearl jam fan base. This guitar will always hold its value because of that. People are buying this because it is a replica of mike's guitar. It has essentially the same exact specs as the american vintage ii for 300 less. They are backordered already until september 2024 with a huge waitlist. This guitar will not lose its value I dont believe ever. This is not a players series strat with a relic job.

    Seems to me this guitar is made for mike fans, so critical analysis wont be entertained.
    I get it, when youre a fan of someone and you can get their guitar, you will. Ive done it, its understandable.
    Having said that, im not a pear jam fan nor a mike fan, but i do like some of their songs and i appreciate a good guitar.
    I tried one out today and really wanted to like it.
    I do like the novelty of its finish, i appreciate what they were going for, but i feel that overall this guitar is overpriced.
    Ive got signature edition strats from the 90s, ive got ultra luxes, ive got a bevy of the recent made in mexico strats and squiers, im well versed in all things fender.
    I feel that after the last slew of standard made in mexico stratocasters, the feel of this guitar isnt as nice as a stock MIM, and thats ironic as these ARE MIM strats.
    If these had super whiz bang rare pick ups or a more hand finished custom relic i could understand where the extra money is going, but i couldnt justify it here.
    Perhaps i just got the dud of the batch.
    But here in australia its retail is $3K, and i feel thats around $800-1000 too much.
    Ill give it another try, but im sceptical..

By contrast, the RW Cobain Jaguar is Custom Shop-level relic work (I own one), but Fender wouldn't do that with this McCready general release (own one too), as they sold 60 Custom Shop versions for so much.
