That was exciting. Except for that ski club meeting at the top of that one slope, not much traffic. Considering it was April the snow sounded soft but adequate.

Hi Barry, I enjoyed this run and it was still early enough for the snow to be good but it gets really soft later in the day. The PistenBully got in the way in the closed part but otherwise it was a smooth run. For now that was way to steep for me. I am now getting used to the CF main slope, and can snow plough turn down it more or less, and can even do a very basic parallel on the green bit at the bottom.
BTW, didn't buy new skis yesterday - Tues, as the season is over, and S+R had very limited stock left, and only women's ski's for my height - 167 cm - and ability, but there is a trade fair at CF on 5-6 Oct, so will buy then.

You are doing amazingly well for your age, so well done!
When purchasing skis, you also need to choose the bindings and have them mounted. At that point it is useful to know the boot and size so they can set the size and DIN. I have found google shopping useful to find skis. Usually at this time, if skis are still available, you could get 50% off on 2023/24 skis and a normal discount for 2024/25 skis would be about 20% preseason or black friday deals...

@@ChasingSnow Yeah, well, I need to work on my right turn, as I find turning left's my dominant side, as I'm right handed, and I speed up a bit when I'm turning right, but the 15 degrees isn't really as dauting now as it was the first time I was up there. Going again next Wed for another 2 hours practice. Next Wed it'll be just 3 months since I started and I'll have 22 hours on ski's from a standing start.
As for the trade show, and you can demo ski's, but that'd be more for seasoned skiers, then me. But the senior ski guy will be there, and he said he'll advice me, and not to let the sales man sell me a ski that won't be an easy turning ski, so I'd rather buy the right one, then a cheaper one.

In Europe, that's generally not the case... closed is more like off-piste, so at your own risk... my biggest concern was lack of snow, so I would have to walk, but as it turned out, all was good except for the pistenbully blocking the way...
