According to one of old Ramamurthi’s interview, Sridar didn’t want to change the pallavi because it was the title of the movie. MSV+TKR had to come up with a tune using the same pallavi acceptable to Sridar. MSV and TKR were in Bombay to attend a concert or function and staying in a Motel. They heard next room man was listening to a Bangara type song from radio. They suddenly got a spark and modified the melody to suit this pallavi “Nejam marappathillai”. Sridar approved it and the rest is history.

Yes. I also saw that interview. If my memory is right it was TKR who listened to tha music and suggested to MSN. They were not staying in Motel but in Shanmugha Nandha Hall.

Also, I happened to watch your rendition of same song years ago wherein on the harmonium you played it and were explaining to your friend the subtle variations(solluku naalu vayasu)... in the song.👌👌I am unable to trace that clip 😀🙏

Sir, after start watching your episodes I started my in depth search of MSV avargal compositions. After you explain about a song Nitham Nitham Yen kannodu in some other episode, don't know how many times I played it. I am from AP, but music is beyond language. My humble request to explain about this song composition more in this channel. Your explanation is revealing the background of MSV avargal compositions. Also please discuss on my favorite tracks Manaivi amaivathellan, yamuna nadi yenge, kannukum kulam, amaiviyana nadiyamellan, malligai, veenai pesum. Sorry if the track names are incorrect. The way you speak is treat to my ears, it is like music itself.

I used to chalange my friends that nobody could tune haunting tunes like Ramganguly in the Hindi film Mahal " Ayega ayega" and Salil Chudhry in Madhumathi Ajre ajere paradesi.But after hearing Nenjam marappadilai i changed my opinion that nobody could tune the song better than Mellisai mannargal Nenjam marappadillai
I feel that he is overdoing it a bit by elaborating it too much and repeating the same thing over and over; if this continues then it becomes boring!
