    So It.looks like your only plowing one direction. My roads get up to 12 miles long, ild be waisting alot of time all that forwards backwards. I try to do all that in one pass, then return and do the opposite side. Very interesting to see your method. Thank you Graderman

      I plow both sides generally when we get a storm I go right down the middle of the road get a hole knocked through everything then I clean up once all my roads are opened up in this video I was cleaning everything up so that’s why I was pushing everything back I have 3 townships at 40 miles a piece so yeah it takes me a good 16 hours to get all 3 opened up then after that I go around and clean them up hopefully that explains it better thanks for watching

    I’m jealous you don’t run chains. My roads are both on the flats but then I have to climb some pretty nasty grades with switch backs. I have iron on all 6. Then when you get going those chains will get in sync and the machine is hoping and loud. I have a blower so when I start getting bigger drifts and it looks like a break in weather I take advantage of that and pull that drift out a little for the blower to get rid of. It buys a little time before that bank gets bigger and bigger. Where I drift bad I can’t emphasize enough to have as much of the shoulder and ditch mowed as possible. All my farmers don’t mind if I go into their fields (without something planted) and mow the tall grass. It sure helps. We also do most of our snow plowing with trucks with high speed plows on them. I just can’t cover the miles of roads I need to get open fast enough. Only when it’s a mess out do I end up getting enough help to be able to take the blade. Also why I just leave it chained up. Then days like that I don’t get anything done either because I’m pulling out my stuck plow trucks. Because you are guessing where the road is. Oh the joys of winter

      @graderman140m  Před rokem +2

      Yes I’m very fortunate I don’t have to have chains but I have a big storm coming next couple of days might have to put chains on there saying 8 to 18 inches of snow and 30 to 40 mph winds going to get ugly so might have to chain up if we get that kind of snow that will be first time since 2006 since I’ve put chains on a grader. Thanks for watching

      We are required to get 1 direction each way on every road open right a ways so 2 lanes, and only have moldboard and v plow. What is the quickest way thst you have found or would recommend for doing that? Also how do you keep you machine from bouncing. This last one (Thursday) iit did not matter what gear I was m, I tried 5, 6th and 7th, 8th is almost to fast here) and I tried moldboard rolled forward all the way and slightly and also more straight and I absolutely could not keep it from bouncing like crazy, big bouncing. I would LOVE help on these to items thank you

    • @buddyrehd67
      @buddyrehd67 Před rokem +1

      @@ericscheer2024 I understand your frustration. My Deere 772GP is very sensitive and likes to bounce. Articulation a little helps but not practical all the time. Just for shits and giggles, on your rear tandems adjust the air pressure in the tires matching the Left front to the Right Rear and the opposite drop like 5 pounds. Some guys say it helps but I haven’t seen much difference. Worth trying anyways. Earlier this winter I experienced the same thing and all I can come up with was the snow was wet and all the guys I talked to in the area had the same issue. Make sure your moldboard is slicked up with a wire wheel on a grinder and I sometimes put like a wax on mine to the snow will scour. Makes a different to the machine stability with how well material slides from side to side. All things to think about.

    Cat vs Deere vs Volvo for a machine, or do they each have their equal good and bads

    • @graderman140m
      @graderman140m  Před rokem

      Volvo can’t say I know much about them haven’t heard much good on them have heard they have lots of transmission troubles with the Deere and cat are both great machines they both have there flaws I prefer the cat for the power and luging power they have over the Deere. Hope that answers your question thanks for watching.

    Why aren’t you using John Deere wing

    • @graderman140m
      @graderman140m  Před rokem +1

      As far as I know John Deere doesn’t make a wing in my area if we have a Deere machine they put a falls wing and plow from little falls MN.

      When I ran a DEERE , it had a Monroe wing plow. Very well built for a gutless grader!

    • @graderman140m
      @graderman140m  Před rokem +1

      @@graderboy41 I think the Monroe snow equipment is more popular in your area pretty much falls on everything up here and yeah I definitely notice the lack in power from the cat to the Deere

    • @graderboy41
      @graderboy41 Před rokem +2

      We also put Falls on our CAT blades now. Not the heaviest built wing compared to Balderson but they get the job done. Recommend them highly.

    Best thing to do to keep snow sticking to your window is keep your cab cold

    • @graderman140m
      @graderman140m  Před rokem +1

      I totally agree with you on that I normally keep my cab cold but when it’s 29 degrees and sunny out about impossible to keep snow from sticking to windows
