Your videos are so useful! I got accepted into penn a few weeks ago and I'm very close to committing but the only thing I'm worried about is the experience as a poc (black female). I've read about a lot of poc saying its not very diverse and sometimes tough to find your people- some even transferred out because of this. How would you describe your experience? Is it worth it? I really would love to go to penn, this is my only con/concern so far 🥲
i’m literally having the same thing i got accepted into university park im just scared of what it’ll be like to go as a black girl (as i am to go pretty much anywhere that isn’t an hbcu)
I plan on committing to Penn State also and I had the same concern as a black male. I asked my friend (black woman) who is a junior there and she says that there's a surprising larger amount of black people than she thought. She even calls it a mini HBCU.
@wiztube_ yes, I go to penn state and am A current freshman and what I can tell you is that you dont have to worry about finding black people and events here. There the only ones I go to and all my friends are black as well, there is huge community of us, and I honestly love it here. I thought I was going to have A hard time navigating and finding my people... but not at all, im honestly only around black people. Despite there being A huge black community in social setting, academically you will probably be the only black person in your classrooms or lecture hall, but its not terrible.
Black person here! It kinda sucks, and the larger community is racist as hell, but you can find people among the student body.
Yeah, it sucks here. Look up “Osaze Osagie.” Police killed him and no one list their job. Whole thing was swept under the rug.
