This video is here to show you how to properly set up a Medium-Large Lyman Whitaker Wind Sculpture. The Sculpture that I am using to demonstrate with is a Medium "Single Helix Star Horizontal". Depending on the soil you are using, it is suggested to use cement mix to support the sculpture.

Hi Austin - what stops someone from stealing them when they are in a public place???

Hello HRH Pj. Thanks for the awesome question. Kaeli here - head unicorn wrangler at Steffich Fine Art.
All of our sculptures which are installed for public enjoyment are cemented into place. They each have their own locking devices and are impossible to remove without damaging the sculpture.
I hope that answers your question. Please send us an email at info at steffichfineart dot com if you would like to know additional ways to insure your wind garden collection stays golden, forever.
      Have a fantastic week,

So the shaft is protected from theft by the nut but not the sculpture itself?

Is the height tete above ground height of the sculpture or does that measure include the in-ground support?

      Hello Ninja,
Thanks for the reply and I apologize for the delay in responding. Each of our public displays are cemented into place and every sculpture has anti-theft locking devices. Should someone try to remove them, they would end up damaging the entire structure.

The measurements on our website are from the top of the ground - excluding the ground mount which is approximately 2-3 feet under the soil.

Thanks Austin. I'm thinking about buying Whitaker's double spinner which is seen in the back drop. The version I'm considering has a height listed as 86 inches. How far into the ground would the shaft have to be driven to support a sculpture of that size? I live in a windy area. How well to the sculptures cope with wind? Is there any maintenance, such as lubricating an bearings, that needs to be done?

The video says to hammer it in. In the comments it says it's cemented in. Come on guys, that's ridiculous.
