Second verse, WORSE than the first. ...our second cycle of lambing is a STRUGGLE. | Vlog 750

- Winter lambing 2023 has begun its second cycle, but it seems that it's also coming in hot with its own set of significant problems.
Lambs are just not thrifty, some litters having lambs so weak that they can't even stand as their siblings seem to be thriving...
A real head scratcher.
My little man seemed to also take a turn for the worst, so I listened to my gut and put him back with mama to see if he perks up a bit.
The next morning, he really seemed to turn the corner!!
However, that same morning, I replaced the warming box with yet another weak lamb refusing to drink.
And I closed off this day with one of my worst nights so far in this group.

Hey Sandi - 99% of your herd understand that you do absolutely everything you can for your Ewes and their Lambs. Unfortunately, as the saying goes, “if you have livestock you’re going to have dead stock”, and even your very best efforts can’t always save them. It’s not you ! It’s Mother Nature. You are an awesome Shepherd. 🐑🐏🐑🐏
Totally agree with this statement. You are doing a great job. Inspiration to us all.
True
I wish I could like this statement more than once. Sandy you do an amazing job taking care of your sheep and we can see how much you love them! Most of the deaths you have on the farm there is nothing you could have done. Sometimes you look back and see something you could have done differently, but no way to know in that moment it could become an issue. Then the rest of them couldn't be avoided unless you basically lived in the barn 24/7 and had absolutely no life. Don't beat yourself up, we are all human.
I was routing for the little Billy lamb, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be😢We know you try your very best. Frankly, Id be upset too😞
Absolutely ❣️ Sandi gives 100% to every 🐑 🐏 & lamb that comes before her‼️❤️🤍💙 I love her videos.
Sorry about the "Billy" lamb & the few others. Not many this lambing🤷❣️
Sandi, please know so
many people love you. We hurt when you hurt. We will cheer you on!! ❤
There’s nothing you could have done differently for ANY of those lambs that didn’t make it !!! Your the best shepherdess I have ever seen !! The commitment to your sheep is awe inspiring and that’s one of the reasons we love you. 🌲💚🙃
God bless the Brock family and the rest of us going into 2024. Lord knows we all need a better year ❤
Amen 🙏🏻
You said it 🙂
That's the truth!
You All Are Doing A Blessed Job!! People = No Judging! That's God's Way 🙏 You are doing great with the FEEDING TUBE!
God Bless you. Thanks for including me
With two sad losses, some lucky adoptions and you saved two lambs in your flock. Your vigilance has saved the day. Of course we want every little lamb to survive the birthing process. 😢 You were right there and fought for each one! ❤❤❤ Big hugs for a kind hard working shepherd!
Oh, my dear, dear Sandi. Your flock is so lucky to have you as their shepherdess - you have a heart of gold and you use it to love all your sheep and little lambs. Lots of love coming to you and yours over this holiday season. Wishing you, your family, your flock and your Sheepishly Me viewers a wondrous, peaceful, prosperous and healthy 2024. Big virtual hugs to all. Yours in Gratitude
I can see how heartbroken you are when you lose a lamb. That is a true shepherd's heart. ❤
Your compassion when caring for your sweet mama lambs that lose their babies is incredible. ❤
I don't do farming of any sort, but I've learned SO MUCH from your videos. I looked at that first mama and thought "bet she has Maedi Visna - she's so skinny and has no milk!" Thank you for being there for your flock - both of the sheep and human varieties!
😊😊😅 no
Me too!
Isn't it kinda wild all the things you learn by "osmosis"? You may not farm now but in the future, due to some event, you do find yourself in that position, the unrealized knowledge that was picked up can be insanely beneficial. I love your comment.
I had the exact same thing. I watch her bring the ewe in and im like "she is acting off and it kind of reminds me of what Goat had. What was that again? madivisna?" And no sooner had I thought that, Sandi says that exact statement.
L by hi
Oh no Sandi - you are the best shepherd I know. These had to hurt when you and Carissa have given it your all and are so tired. Hope you have a good 2024 Happy New Year
Don't beat yourself up, love. Sometimes they just don't catch the spark. You're an amazing shepherdess and your sheep are obviously deeply loved ❤
I really like the idea of "catching the spark ". I believe that all the lambs want to live, but they can't because that spark didn't catch. Thanks for sharing this. ❤
That first little one in the warming box was a huge success, and all your hard work paid off!
Losing two lambs is heartbreaking, and there wasn't any more you could have done!
❤❤❤❤
Lovely Sandi. You take so good care of your herd. Your voice cracking when you lost the little baby broke my heart. I wish you all the strength in the world. Lambing season is both so rewarding and heartbreaking. Sending a huge hug. ❤
You're giving it your all Sandi, feel your heartache through screen when you've giving them everything and they still fault. ITS NOT YOUR FAULT you've got a great system and you're an amazing shepherd don't let it get to you please.
I live upstate NY. Seen a lot of farmers. You are the best I've seen. Your so loving and devoted to those sheep. Love watching you!
No matter what Sandi, no matter if a lamb lives or doesn’t, I know you’ve given a million percent to give it a chance. Can we at least recognize the fact I’ve seen no preg tox mamas this lambing? That’s something to celebrate!!! Keep your chin high. I know you want to save them all but mortality rate and preg toxicity rate is an all time low this round of lambing!! Now, go have yourself an adult beverage. You deserve it!! 🎉🎉🎉
I am so sorry for the loss of those two beautiful lambs, Sandi. You need to remember the ones that you saved. You do a great job, especially with all of the meconium stained babies that come out. ❤
Gentle hugs offered. Livestock is as much a labor of love as it is a business. You have a golden heart Sandi. May the new year be kind and loving to you and yours.
WE🤍U SANDY! YOU AND YOUR SHEEP BRING SUCH JOY TO OUR FAMILY. WE NEVER MISS AN EPISODE.
Ditto!!!❤🐑❤
Sandi, please dont change things much. Your barn is so peaceful. There is something about it that feels peaceful. You are the reason its peaceful. It doesn't have that, need to hurry up and get out feeling. The atmosphere is grounded.
Hugs for all the babies and extra love for the ones who left you too early.
You do an amazing job with your ewes and lambs. Love how the dogs stayed with the baby in the warming box, it was like…don’t worry mom we’ll watch the baby for you. ❤❤❤
My heart broke along with yours after that little Billie passed. Sometimes it's just not meant to be. You are still the best sheep farmer I watch. You are truly dedicated to your flock. Sending love and hugs.
My heart just melts when I see lambs snuggled up with their mom. 🌲💚🙃
Oh Sandi, I'm so sorry that a couple of the lambs did not make it. I cried over the little Billy look alike. Even with my knowledge in the medical field (of course animals are different to some degree), there is no reason why this happened. It's just unfathomable and upsetting. Just know that I'm praying for you and always there with you in spirit. 💗
I love that 2 of the ewes are fostering without incident. I'm so thankful that the little lamb you had been working with has turned the corner for now. It is surprising that mama took her back as well! If there is one thing that I have learned from you is that no one knows whether or not mama takes them back. The longer time away from mom, the less chance of being reunited. I would call this one a miracle. Since it seems like this lamb might have been overheating, perhaps you might check a temp to see how high they are when you're not sure. Rex would know what the highest temp range would be. All in all, I'm so glad you take such devoted care of your flock.
Thank you, Sandi, for all you do! You are an incredible person with a loving heart. We all love you and your family and can't wait for the sharing video you post. Sending love, warmth, prayers and blessings from Alabama ❤️ May you have the best 2024 ever! 💥
Hang in there, Sandi. Sad to see any of them not make it, especially a Billy, but you know Billy didn't just tap one of those ewes. Prayers for a living, breathing Willie lamb!
Most Excellent. You gave those little lambs a new Mommie instead of the Nannie. I salute you for being a wonderful Shepherdess.
Cantuckmom said it best: “You are an awesome Shepherdess” ❤❤❤. It saddens me to see one of the precious babies or mommas pass away, I can only imagine, aging how it saddens you. You cannot fail to know how blessed your flock is to have you & how blessed we are that you share yourself with us. ❤❤❤
Oh Sandy!! You are such a trooper! Continuing to do everything in your power and more for those beautiful animals! Still tell my family that I’m a true Canadian farmer named Nana from Carlisle PA as I know it all from watching you since Jan 2020. I’m truly your biggest fan!! Thank you and your beautiful family for sharing your lives!! Love me some sweet Jess too!! 🥰. Happy New Year!! 🎉 xo
Those of us that have been with you for some time know you do your absolute best for your ewes when they are lambing. There are the great times and the tearful times. Know we are there with you during all of them. When you rejoice, we rejoice. When you mourn, we mourn. There will be another lambing, another chance for those special lambs you treasure so much, and we’ll be there with you for that, too. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love the quiet conversations that ewes (or yeows as Cammy pronounces it), have with their newborn lambs!
Sending vurtual hugs and love to you Sandy. 😢
Sandy we all know how much of yourself you put into all of the lambs, your love and compassion is through the roof, and it’s reflected in all that you do, not just with the lambs, but your family, marriage, the farming and friends - those you know personally and the over a million followers you have. You and your entire family have opened your lives with us, sharing the good and the bad, the realities of just how hard it is to do what you all do. Thank you and your family for sharing and know that we are standing with you through it all. I pray that the rest of the lambing has gone better, that your Christmas and Boxing Day was joyful and that you all are blessed abundantly in the coming year. God bless! 🎄🐑🙏❤️
Will of Cowley hill Farm is a wonderful young farmer. He does some really educational videos. Glad you are giving him a shout out. ❤️
And he's English, Sandi. He does have a great channel. It's very similar to Sandi's as it's a mix between (outdoor) sheep and crop growing.
So sorry….its so rough when you do your best and things don’t turn out like you hope. ❤
Sandi, I truly appreciate all you share with us. Farming is not easy, there is a lot of bad with the good. Highs and lows. Watching you and your sheep has been a bright spot in my life, while caring for a family member on hospice.
Aww love. I get so much joy from your videos. And when things go wrong, my heart hurts for you. Thanks for sharing the good and the bad. I know you care so much, and do the very best for your lambs.
Lucy and Pipper are doing good job babysitting.
Omg! So sorry for your losses, and that Billy was so perfect! Hugs to you and the mamas...
I’m so sorry you lost that little Billy, he was so pretty too. 😟 here is to hoping you get another one, and it is super strong and healthy. ❤
I know it’s even more disheartening when you’re so tired. Please take care of yourself, however you need. Big damned hugs. 🥺❤️
And MORE hugs!!
It's so sweet to see all the babies snuggled up with their mamas for the night.
A new go around of lambing starts. So sorry things didn't go well.😢 Here is to a wonderful New year 🎉🎉🎉.
It’s obvious that you are a very caring shepherd. I have learned a lot from your videos, but mostly I just love seeing your interactions with your sheep, especially your new lambs.
Awwww...sending lots of prayers 🙏 for your strength in tough times like these, Sandi. Be kind to yourself, as all of us and God know how much you care for these animals...and how much it hurts you when you lose them. You do all you can, Sandi...the rest is up to God. Take comfort in knowing you gave it your all!! Much love to you and your family!! God bless you all!! 💜😊💜
Sandi, we love you. We know how hard you try. You do everything you can to produce healthy babies, sometimes things just don’t go as planned. ❤️❤️❤️
So many sweet babies. Sandi you did everything you could for those who died. Thank you for having such a caring heart and for never giving up.
Wishing you, your family, and all those who adore your channel, a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year! As a side note, the moment my cat hears your voice or one of the sheep, and he bolts to watch as well. Thank you for all you do!
Hah, one of my cats is the same. I posted a picture of her on Instagram recently, attentively watching Sandi. She LOVES the sheep. 😂
Sweet Sandi, l'm seriously worried about you. Your precious heart is so sensitive, and some situations deserve that extra attention that can only heal by talking to a professional. I wish I could help, but I'm not qualified. I can laugh with you, and cry with you, and feel some of your pain. No matter what you decide, WE'LL BE IN YOUR CORNER. ❤ 😊 😢 🎉 😅❤😊
Love your vlogs Sandi. You don’t sugar coat anything it’s just reality which is so relatable. The music is just perfect also! 🥰
You are an inspiration to the young people that wat to farm thanks for your videos, merry chrisms from South Africa
Sandi, all I can do from here is share a virtual Hug❤
You know that you did it right.
I have a soft spot for Billie's too. Sometimes on the surface there just isn't a clear reason.
When the dust settles, go check your history and hope you kept some freezer space in case the pattern continues after filming.
I hope you can have a restful long weekend and start planning your trips to market next week.
2023 provided many tears, worries and hope.
2024 hopefully will provide a healthy prosperous and loving year. ❤ 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🎇🎆🎇🎆🇨🇦
Awe! Sorry this night was so awful Sandy!! You can't win the all! You are a fenominal lamb/sheep mama! It has NOTHING to do with you! That's for sure!!
So sorry Sandi, you give these babies everything you have to live. Sending you love ❤️
You put so much of your heart in these babies. So sorry some of them are having such a hard time.🙏
Bless you Sandi for all the love and care you show your flock, both human and sheep
Sorry for the loss of the lambs. Things always happen for a reason and you do everything you can do. God Bless to all.
If you weren't such a strong woman then more would be lost. But you don't give up on the lambs without a fight for their lives. We may never know why some survive while others don't but you ALWAYS fight for each one. ❤
Sorry it was not a great night for you. You and your family are loved. Happy New Year!🎄
Sandi - My heart hurts for you when a lamb dies despite your best efforts. Try to remember that you gave them the best chance to survive possible. Sometimes it's just not possible. Also, you are very tired. I think that magnifies the despair you feel. ❤🐑
Sandi my heart goes out to you with the loss of any of your Sheep and lambs! You fight so hard to keep them going and it’s inspiring to see this! Bless you and your family and hope you had a wonderful Christmas! It’s also so nice to see Jess getting back to her old self! Thank you for sharing both your families with us!
Hi Sandi, I know you are the best sheep mom of the world. You take care of all sheeps and lamps. You do what ever you can. I'm sad if you are sad, I'm glad if you are glad. Please enjoy your time, you do sooooo much for the lamps. Please don't worry, be happy. I I wish you and your Family a happy new year. And Chris too ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh sandi, kinzie loves them like you do. So sweet.
So sorry it didn’t go well ❤
I don't know who was telling you that you weren't tubing the lambs right, eh. I do want to believe it was well intentioned, but thank you for showing the device closer and sharing that information for those of us who aren't familiar with a lot of things you use or how they work. In my mind I was wondering how you knew how far the tube went etc., so showing those tick marks and your explaining it more detail definitely cleared it up for me. They definitely aren't apparent in the video until you showed them up close, now I know. LOL While I just enjoy your videos in general, it's cool to learn new things in the process. I truly do appreciate that and always look forward to seeing when you post a new one. 🥰
My heart goes 💔 out to you Sandi. It's so hard to lose the little ones. Hope the rest go better. 😢
Listen Sandi - everyone on youtube is an expert at everything. Don't let people try and tell you how to do your job or whether you're good or not
Love seeing you and the babies you have a heart ❤️ of Gold. God Bless, Happy New Year 🎊🎊🕛🎊🎊 Many more babies to come 💖. Stay safe, stay strong, stay warm 🙏🙏
Sandi...you are such a loving compassionate sheep farmer....sheep farmer doesn't accurately describe you...more like mother figure. In fact...you are more mother-like than some mothers are to their human babies...sad but true. It's party why soo many follow you. Your tender voice welcoming them into the world and your dedication to keeping them alive...is just soo heart warming. I hope you can feel all the love your viewers have for you...your family...sweet little lambs. Much love to you and Happy New Year!!💕💕💕💕💕
Soo cute Lucy watch baby Lamb❤❤❤
My dear Sandi, please believe us, I know we only see a slight glimps of your life but I think most if not all can see more through you, your face, your emotions, and your voice. You are a value to your family, your animals, and us❤❤❤❤❤🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Hey, Sandy, don't beat yourself up, okay? You do all you can for your ewes and their lambs. Every lambling!! You do everything you can, to the best of your ability, to give each lamb a shot at living. As the saying goes, Crap happens beyond our control sometimes. You don't have to like it, and I know each lamb, you feel it in your heart. And that's okay!! Feel it!! That's what makes you the great sheep farmer you are! By sharing all this with us, we also feel each loss as you feel each loss. But we also celebrate each victory as well. Of the ones you do manage to save. So keep on going!! We're all here for you!!! And we all CARE about whatever matters the most to you. Especially at lambling. Your friend, in Eastern Ontario, Canada, the Retired Paramedic, and Horse Trainer, who is also on baby watch duty for 2 more foals to be born, Jenn. 💖💖🇨🇦
The dog is a very good foster parent. Lol. That was so cute. (Dog comforting lamb)
Oh Sandi, you are a great Shepard. Your babies love ya and the sheep love ya. We do as well. It is soo hard to know what is wrong with our 4 leg babies. It can be a struggle nit we jave to try. You go above and beyond. Thank you for sharing your lives with us
🙏🏻we see your beautiful heart every vid- So sad you lost those lambs at birth- it is clear it is not for lack of heart, experience and trying on your part. Thanks for sharing your herds with us ( sheep and family:-) ).
Happy New Year!🎉
So sorry you lost the Billy-lamb.
Hoping for better news next time. My heart is with you and the lambs and ewes.
Hope you have a happy holiday. Try to relax and get a little rest. You did everything for those babies!
Sandi, you do everything and more to save those lambs. It hurts, but at the end of the day, I know you've done everything. ❤💕
So sorry for the loss of these wee ones❤️❤️❤️
Please keep in mind I know nothing about sheep. But with baby pigs I’d have given baytril and dex as soon as I see something off.
What a wondrous day for lambing.❤🐑❤There were a few that were weak and a few who could not breathe well. You did everything you could but a couple did not make it.💔 The others are thriving and you even fostered some lambs.💕💕 It hurts when we cannot help the helpless, but you greeted them as they're born and they felt Mom and you doing all you could.💔You are a wonderful farmer and you love and care for your flock. At this🎄Christmas Time it is nice to think of miracles🌟, and there were a few miracles in this Sheep group.💖 Watching the Moms with their wee ones snuggled up is so precious. Also, it was so nice of Cowley Hill Farms in England to send you some gifts.🥰
If a lamb has any chance at all, their best odds are with you.❤
This is why, your little Brown & White little dog is standing over this little baby Lamb!😊😊❤❤❤
What a surprise the Billy baby looked perfect, so strange, sorry you lost a few, but hopefully that's the end. Thanks Sandi, see you soon!❤️👍
So sorry about your baby lambs. Your things from Crowley farm are really nice. I hope the little boy is doing better now. Wow, four babies right away. So sorry about your little Billy boy. Thank goodness the mommy took two others ❤️👍
Try the old way just once with a hard one, take it by it's back legs and swing it a few times. It might work with your hard to revive babies. Ask Rex your vet if he knows of the old way. My aunt still uses it when needed. God Bless you all.
What a hard night, Sandi! Echoing the words of another watcher....you will lose some battles and I know they exhaust you and drain you emotionally. But you are phenomenal. I follow your vlogs with such admiration. We're in your corner, cheering you on! ❤❤
So sorry that you had such a rough time right before Christmas! Hope it will improve with the last few!
Sandi, you only look at the 5 to 10% vs. the 85 to 95% success rate I've been seeing you do time and time again over the 4 or 5 years I've watched your channel. I've learned so much information from you and don't even have a farm. But one day, when I do, I'll know what to do with my animals because of the knowledge you have shared with the world of youtube ❤
Happy New Year to everyone one.
Tiny little loves. It’s hard to; farm life isn’t easy every day. You have to just celebrate the successes. I sleep well every night listening to your sheep.
Aha! No censorship on the ewe who delivered her 2nd @ 31:34! Yay! Desperately hope that means CZcams has wised up about Sandi's subscribers wanting to see what Sandi sees! 💕💕
May the Brocks enjoy New Years celebrations and have a brilliant 2024!
Sandi, kust love how much heart you give to your sheep. So sorry for the losses, especially the Billy. Happy New Year & much joy to yhe Brocks.
I’m so sorry for the lambs you lost but at least you could give the moms foster lambs. I hope the rest of the moms have healthy babies!
Sandy, we all know you do your best for the babies! But sometimes things go how they do so others may live. Just keep doing what your doing. We're cheering you on!!
oh no 😔sending huge hugs💛💛
Happy New Year 🎉.
I love how you truly love each lamb.
Just watched the video of what u went thru ,the heartache u must be having is tremendous because I've seen your great dedication n strength for your sheep in the past and u can draw from this n carry on your a wonderful lady n farmer. You show your viewers what the farmers have to endure in the fields n in the live stock barns ,so many people have no idea what it means to be a farmer ( like those who leave the mean remarks ,brainless) .The last think I have to say is U have a great heart, that has such love for family n lambs .❤❤❤
You do everything right sandy and care so much. I read on a sheep forum that is the membranes rupture before the lamb is born it can automatically start breathing and then gets a ton of fluid in its lungs before it comes out. Once the umbilical cord is cut it no longer is getting oxygen from mum but can’t breathe because of all the fluid. In minor cases the lamb is chesty but can come round.
So sorry for you and the lambs. You do what you can and leave the rest to mum and God.
Actually, your yield is still amazing, and the care as a shephardess you give is up and beyond any others I know of. My DIL has a small herd of sheep and goats, and there is always one baby in the house in winter, and many times they don't make it. Only the strong survive, as would be In a natural setting, so don't feel too badly...at least they are not getting eaten by predators.
I am so sorry for your loss. My heart breaks for you.
