Guthrie is lightyears beyond everyone else even in the context of the average professional players out there. Side by side solos like this put his talent in perspective.
Disrepectful to not acknowledge Govan's humanity and simply reduce his contribution not just to a bestial level, but to explicitly label it as purely bestial. Behave.
I still believe the great man made the right choice in asking the beautiful and amazing Yolanda to sing as well as do her amazing bass work on this jaw dropping tribute
I miss Prince more with every passing day. I so enjoyed recording him live, not even imagining he could ever not be here. Timeless, singular, special beyond description, he has gifted us an almost unimaginable body of work; the creativity of an icon, the soul of a dreamer. Hey, you, you’re missed.💔
Hans ~ First off I'd like to thank you for thinking, considering and putting this video together. Prince meant a lot to the world that he reached. He was a positive and forward thinker of the music, the industry and the people inside of it. And also for considering Yolanda for her role in the band. Yolanda ~ thank you soooo much for stretching yourself to perform this song. Music is about passion and emotion and thank you for sharing yourself with us. Band ~ thank you for being the best you can be and sharing your talent. I look forward to your following projects. 🤟😎👍Blessings
Thank you for this soulful moment. I LOVE this dream band. Mr Zimmer you have all my respect from a long time but seeing on stage having fun playing the guitar ....Just mind blowing ! Love to everyone.❤🔥🌞
That was one of the best things I've ever seen. Hats off to the film crew who put that together and made it so epic to watch. Bassist was amazing and obviously Guthrie he is THE man. Was so good I'm going to watch it all again!
If you were a guitarist you would understand that it wasn't particularly "complex", as you described. Guitarist's, especially ones with over forty years experience, will have patterns they can refer to knowing they will sound slightly 'out of the box', so it's also not completely improvised.
Anyone else here thought... ''How can the other guy play that sloppy solo after Guthrie's magic?'' I imagine that GG's ears were bleeding with those bends out of tone hahahh!
It takes absolute balls of steel to stand on stage and take a solo after Guthrie Govan when you have absolute shit technique and phrasing. I don’t know who the second guitar player was but it was not very good…
Who's here because of Guthrie?
me lol
Everyone?!
Better question, who's not? 😂
All of us 😂
Legend
Respect to Yolanda who clearly was going through some deep emotions. There's a lot of courage on display.
Guthrie is a tough act to follow maybe he should have had the last solo
Defintely
He kind of did.
I don't think he played much to sweat about.
Guthrie is lightyears beyond everyone else even in the context of the average professional players out there. Side by side solos like this put his talent in perspective.
It’s not a competition. I think Guthrie paid tribute here in a very understated and musical way. Loved it.
Guthrie is a pure beast. Hans Zimmer is just brilliant taking this man onboard.
Disrepectful to not acknowledge Govan's humanity and simply reduce his contribution not just to a bestial level, but to explicitly label it as purely bestial. Behave.
The perfection of Guthrie's solo is just stunning!
Guthrie's solo was just too good
Have seen (and heard) GG on 6 occasions so far. He is just far above any guitar playing.
He didn't play much to sweat about.
I think it needed someone like Gary Moore all over it.
Ufff...
The fact that GG picked the unison bend several times at the end was very expressive. So vocal and organic sounding. He is unbelievable.
In my opinion, Guthrie is the best guitarist ever known. Why was he at the back?
hans zimmer feel exactly the same way about him
It's only fair on the others
@@syriusgreen6335 to be fair, Hans Zimmer did want him
Johnny Marr has the best sound imho, every guitarist is GOOD.
Its not about the band, its about Prince
I still believe the great man made the right choice in asking the beautiful and amazing Yolanda to sing as well as do her amazing bass work on this jaw dropping tribute
4:10 - Guthrie Govan's Solo
Guthrie alone showing his impeccable talent.
Thank you Hans, it was definetely one of the most magical moments of the evening.
This video wins the internet. Every. Day.
Guthrie made the other two guitarists sound like amatures
I always get goosebumps everytime I hear Guthrie's solos. Most of the time my eyes get wet. Seriously. Always!

Must have been painful to follow with guitars after GG.
4:17
GG on a completely different universe from the others

GG solo send me flying .. full of skill and emotion ..
Ms Charles, I love this woman, so cool, so talented and so beautiful. 🥰
Thank you for this soulful moment. I LOVE this dream band. Mr Zimmer you have all my respect from a long time but seeing on stage having fun playing the guitar ....Just mind blowing ! Love to everyone.❤🔥🌞
So beautiful
Gänsehaut pur , Thank you for the evening in Oberhausen, Thank you Hans...
I was there that evening and the perfomance of purple rain was just beautiful.
The whole evening was just beautiful.
I love hans Zimmers' music
The atmosphere was so stunning...
Guthrie soloing to Purple Rain? Yes please!
Incredible
So awesome to see Guthrie do a prince solo
A moment I'll never forget! It was amazing!
Thank you so so much for this. Shiverssssss
Ohhh Hans Zimmer, you never disappoint anyone! Brilliant.
You're a big teacher of music!!! Thanks Mr. Zimmer.
That was one of the best things I've ever seen. Hats off to the film crew who put that together and made it so epic to watch. Bassist was amazing and obviously Guthrie he is THE man. Was so good I'm going to watch it all again!
this is amazing
Amazing!!!
OMG THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!!!
Mike Einziger's guitar sounds like he turned the cab simulation off his Kemper..... which is odd, because he is apparently using tube amps...
Phenomenal!!
The singing Guthrie bend! AAAH
C'mon...I'm crying
That person who wailed after the first chord 😂😭
ALL the tears!
Corey henry's cover is the best one
This is the second best hands down.
i never thought i'd see Guthrie Govan and Johnny Marr in the same video frame.
How does one improvise something as complex yet fitting as the line at 4:44?
Pretty standard Malmsteen line really.
That happens when You are a Genius....😏😏🤷
@@pleasepermitmetospeakohgre1504 literally not a standard malmsteen line
@@pleasepermitmetospeakohgre1504 this is nothing like anything Malmsteen typically plays, what are you hearing?

wow
Ningún guitarrista mortal debería tocar después de Guthrie. Respeto por favor... tks
nobody can play it like PRINCE...
Yeah Guthrie can play it much better
I came here just to watch Guthrie! :)
Wie kann man den Clip nur so verhunzen, indem man die Interviews mitten rein schneidet? Wenigstens sind die Solos am Ende frei davon
Who's here because of the Anderton's interview?
Is that Mike from incubus?
yes!!!
Amazing video!!, But bit Pity that The video / audio is not entirely in sync to each other.
sorry about that. but the reverb makes this impression. it was not supposed to be captured everything got improvised on the spot.
yolanda charles
"Oh shit I have to solo AFTER Guthrie?"
lol my man Hans playing guitar also
sure, check out this one czcams.com/video/xdYYN-4ttDg/video.html
also Jack Sparrow is there
Guthrie's playing was insane, but following solo took it greatly also
telecaster boy needs a tuner, disgusting solo. Guthrie amazing!
Ee... That second solo kinda destroyed Guthrie solo
Fun fact: Guthrie is the love child of David Gilmour and Steve Vai.
Who's the terrible guitarrist after govan?
JACOIN
yolanda is the best!
too easy for guthrie...
a part Guthrie, les autres on dirait un groupe de piano bar....
Even though Guthrie played the better solo, I think Mike Einziger channeled Prince more.
Wobbly I agree.
Sorry ...but none those guitarist ( including govan) sounded anything like Prince
Nobody sounds like Prince.
Anyone else here thought... ''How can the other guy play that sloppy solo after Guthrie's magic?'' I imagine that GG's ears were bleeding with those bends out of tone hahahh!
sounds like an average wedding band
