The people of Sarajevo were running for their lives again Monday as the city came under renewed sniper fire.
Authorities have erected sniper screens at city intersections , while United Nations peacekeepers are regularly using their armoured vehicles to shield vulnerable civilians.
But there are no guarantees of safety.
Lurking and lethal ... the snipers of Sarajevo inflict indiscriminate terror on the citizens of the besieged Bosnian capital.
Repeated threats from the UN has failed to prevent random shooting at people, who must still leave the relative safety of their homes to get food and water.
And for all the efforts of city authorities and the United Nations, sometimes it's only luck that keeps them alive.

@Advocatus Diaboli Maybe the civillians shouldnt walk around at a frontline, what are the snipers supposed to do? shout out to them and ask if they are civillians or soldiers? And these blue helmets shouldnt either be there. If you are a sniper at a urban frontline you shoot at what movement you see around the enemy line, all other fucks should keep out.

This was not a civilian war this was agression on Bosnia and Herzegovina by Serbia and JNA

How is it possible for the UN to allow such things? It is known exactly who shot at Sarajevo from the surrounding hills and killed the children. For those who do not yet know; they were Chetniks.

the thing is they didnt stop this from happening, it was in their interest to disrupt yugoslavia in the first place, and the sniper didnt shoot them cause it would mean a full on nato invasion

that coward of a sniper was very close, you can hear the sound and the impact almost at the same time, also if you haven't noticed, the bullet went 20 cm next to his head (cause the bullet hit the front glass first and then broke the last part)

Snippers are professional cowards they can't face their enemies
Being a sniper is different, your own don't like you and the enemy hate's you. So in the end your only friend is your rifle

I haven't seen a single video of the UN returning fire. What did they actually do? They just sat there and watched people getting shot in a tank.
they only shot back if they were fired at. Even then they could not do it because they were told not to so they had to make do

They covered them with armoured vehicles so they don’t get shot they don’t know where the sniper is so there not gonna randomly shoot
The only thing that we could have done is getting shot and than we could returns fire if we knew where was the snipers.
And no one said, "you see that hill over there where the snipers are clearly firing from? Let's go secure that hill."? Soldiers have literally been taking hills for security since the beginning of time. Why didn't this happen? What the snipers were doing wasn't war, it was terrorism. Why would you have to wait to be fired on?

Where are the shooting from? This makes no damn sense. Unless this was the beginning of the war and they were shooting from Holiday Inn but it is not since UN is already deployed here. The area around this street was held by Bosnian forces and the closest serb positions were at Grbavica
