Early in my pipe smoking career I bought brier pipes and then I bought a few estate meerschaum pipes on the cheap.... I now find I exclusively smoke the meerschaum pipes only. I smoke quite regularly and find the brier pipes too much work, cleaning, they get too hot, they begin to "suck" and have a drip to them. To give you an idea how hard working meerschaum pipes are, when I bought mine they looked similar to yours and now they are the color of a brier pipe. Meerschaum 100%
