- Show and tell video converting an analogue slot car to the Carrera Digital system using the aftermarket FT-Slottechnik Chip. I've tried to keep it light with a warts 'n' all commentary over what is really quite an uneventful video.
Chip used: FT-Slottechnik SCD2022
Bought from here: www.slotcar-union.com/en/powe...
Car used: Sideways (by Racer) BMW 320 Gr.5 Fruit of the Loom

I am not affiliated to either of these companies, they did not send me anything free.

Very informative video. I have pondered over how to chip my Monogram Shelby Daytona Coupe for months and I believe you’ve provided the solution. The car has a front mounted motor with a drive shaft under the cockpit extending to the rear axle. There is absolutely not enough room for the Carrera chip without destroying the cockpit. I have chipped quite a few Scalextric and Slot-it cars but none this tight. After watching your video I went to the FT website and checked the specs. Hello! It fits! It also provides all of the Carrera track functions. You’ve got your first of many orders from me Sir. Thanks for all you do.
I have 3 Monogram Shelby Daytonas and have pondered the same issue as you, @garyvernon1217. Am wondering if you have successfully chipped yours yet and, if so, have you found this chip to be reliable. I have chipped many Scalextric cars but these Daytonas have me stumped. Thanks!
Nice and therapeutic - leaving all the 'tinning' in at 1:1. Informing the viewer to stay calm against the action of a 4mm drill bit is a nice touch. You would make a great Dentist, Dave :) Personally, I'm more used to analogue. I wish a vendor would make some decent 3 lane track as I see this in analogue as the optimal format for racing..
Thanks for showing me this.
Great video thank you 🙏
It is called Blu-Tac over in AU too.
Beautiful car 👌
It sure is!
Nicely done video Dave. Wouldn't it be grand if Racer and other top notch mfg'ers would leave a nice open area in their chassis for the chip to seat into? I have chipped a few NSR and older Scalextric cars. The NSR cars are the most challenging.
I did hear rumour that at one point the new line of Revoslots (Alfa, Mk1 Escort BMW 2002 etc) were supposed to come pre drilled for Carrera. but that clearly didn't happen. At least with a Slot It they make their cars to fit their chips and make chips for multiple systems. The FTS chip is a great help though being so small and with the LED on a fly lead. I've got a TeamSlot Zakspeed Mk2 Escort to try and chip soon, but I've got a funny feeling the LED needs to be right on the line of a bit of chassis moulding so that might be a challenge too
G’day Dave,
I’m seriously considering doing the same, however I run my D132 at ~30% power and 10-15% brakes non magnet with polyurethane tyres. In your opinion, do these Slottechnik chips do this as well as D132 chips?
I’d like to do a Group 5 host class combining Carrera D132 and Sideways cars, adjusting power, brakes and tyre compounds for parity between the brands…
All the best

I don't find much difference between the two for brake adjustment they're both pretty linear, whereas I think the Slot It chip is less sensitive towards the lower end and everything past about 60% is pretty much full brakes, maybe I'm imaging it but that's how it seems. I've got three of the GT class revoslots , two on carrera chips and one on an FTS chip and although I run a lot more rake than you on my track I find them comparable. Hope that helps.
Great tutorial. Will these chips run for all analog cars? For example Scalextric, nsr, Ninco etc?
Depends on the car, different Carrera compatible chips are different sizes, I have a whole playlist on chipping different cars
@@slotr thank you.
Does this work for 143 scale too?
As far as I know this is only for the Carrera 132 digital system, I think the 143 system used different firmware so I don't think these chips will work.
