Excellent transfer! The movie looked incredible with Dolby Vision. I can't recommend it enough. One of the best of the year in my opinion.
I agree.
I’ve seen that the man that fell to earth is coming to 4K with a limited edition steelbook (Amazon and hmv).
Welcome back Adam.
Huge thanks for this review.
An incredible 4K release imo. MILES better than the standard Blu-Ray.
You've sold me on this upgrade.
Pulp Fiction has been my number 1 favorite film off and on since I was a kid... The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre[1974], The Big Lebowski, The Shining and Apocalypse Now(Theatrical Cut) make my top 5 All-Times.
Alright you’ve sold me. Putting this high on my Christmas wishlist!
I actually prefer the iconic original color version of the cover art. I have both the bluray and collectors edition dvd version of this classic movie.
This iconic movie is in my top 10 favourite movies of all time so im so happy that this 4k transfer is Tiptop 👊
Perfect Review!! Thank you! So much better than Mid Level Media! You spend just a couple minutes talking about the movie itself, unlike MML’s spending 8-1/2 exhausting minutes on it! We All Know how good the film is! So thanks for sticking to what we all came here for! Review of the transfer itself. Video and audio. Everyone should follow this method of reviewing.
Hope Paramount releases both Kill Bill in 4k next
I got the steelbook. Watched the film last night. Looked amazing. Havent seen the film in years. What a freakin masterpiece. Ill probably watch again this weekend
I double dipped
Got this in the mail today, gorgeous transfer. The film stock Tarantino chose to use really produces a rich picture!
Thanks for the review. Last time I saw this was on DVD probably 20 years ago. I was glad I saw it but haven't really felt the desire to watch it since then. I've seen a few clips that I like to revisit like John Travolta coming out of the bathroom, just because it is so shocking. QT seems to not be a big fan of 4K discs though. Not sure what that's about. At least that's the scuttlebutt. I know he loves his scratched 35mm prints of movies in his collection.
I got the limited edition 4K steelbook of pulp fiction.👍
Saw Pulp Fiction Steelbook edition on 4k couple of nights ago and it looks Spectacular and sounds out of this world, a whole new movie watching experience all over again 👊👊📽
I just got reservoir dogs, it looks really good! Can't wait for this one 👏
With Paramount's hit-and-miss work on 4K lately, I was worried about this one (my favorite Tarantino film). But I am really glad to hear/see from reviews and screenshots and such that the 4k seems great! I'm excited to get it! (side note: I actually don't really like either the slipcover OR steelbook artwork. I am going to take my slipcover from the previous Blu Ray which has the classic poster art and put it on the 4K case)
Paramount didn’t handle the transfer from what I’ve heard.
@@MovieGuy365 Hm, I might've been getting Pulp Fiction 4K mixed up with another upcoming 4K that *is*/going to be Paramount, sorry bout that lol
Big fan of Quentin Tarantino and been looking forward to upgrading my collection to 4K just picked up Pulp Fiction can’t wait to see it
Thanks Adam I did purchase this particular 4k movie . I haven’t seen it yet .
one of my favourite classic movies by Quentin Tarantino and saw it recently on paramount plus and it looks incredible in 4K might get the uk version soon
The Blu-ray version looked really good on my Panasonic player, so definitely can’t wait to see how this version looks on it 😎
Did the blu-ray get the same restoration? or is it the old blu-ray repackaged.
Special features??
I bet that looks great
I was born in 89 and this watching this felt like watching it in the theater in 94. I felt like a 5 year old again in the best way possible!
You saw this in theater when you were 5? What kind of parents did you have?
@@MikeSmith-rh5gc ones with good taste in movies. This time around I could stay up and watch it on my own and not be yelled at to go back to bed 🤣
Probably had parents like a lot of us! Ones that might not have had a babysitter that night. MY parents took me with them to see The Shining at a drive in theater when I was 9! Was told to lay down in the back seat and not look at the movie. But Of course I peeked out from under my blanket and saw those two ghost twin girls and Jack drive an ax into a man’s chest. Nightmares for weeks! So… it Could be worse 😂
@@thomaslytle5519 that’s how it goes, I think they decided to use horror movies to stop me from doing that because the last time I remember doing was when they were watching Predator
As I understand, Tarantino doesn't like the UHD format, so I doubt that it's director approved. I have no idea why he doesn't like UHD but PT Anderson is another director that doesn't like UHD. Weird but apparently true.
Quentin Tarantino is a great director and also a royal PIA😅😭
True.
All I care about is detail in the accident of Marvin
I’ve heard that Tarantino is not a fan of the 4K format so he’ll never be involved with these restorations.
Approving a transfer is not dependent on the format. He could have easily overseen the transfer and someone else applied the hdr for the 4K. I’m pretty certain he didn’t oversee the grading but the current transfer used is most likely approved by him.
“I just had a really uncomfortable experience in Cannes this last year, because they had the 50th anniversary of ‘Fistful Of Dollars’ ” said the director, who was invited to help present the film. “They showed this 4K restoration. I have an IB Technicolor, a beautiful Techniscope print of ‘Fistful Of Dollars’ -I could have brought that. Anyway, we have all the big speeches, we all talk, it’s the closing night of the Cannes Film Festival, and I sit down…this is a movie I’ve seen a million times. Did it look nice? Yeah, it looks nice, but my laserdisc looks nice, my DVD looks nice, alright? We’re not talking about nice. I was depressed the whole screening because I’m sitting in the Grand Palais, the big house, and I felt like I should be pointing the remote control at the screen and hitting play. I was like, where’s the f’ing menu?”
“Is that fine in my home? Yeah, absolutely it’s fine in my home, I don’t think about it. But in the Palais, I felt like there was some glass between me and the movie that wouldn’t have been there had we shown the 35mm print,” Tarantino continued, saying the experience made him “double down” on his programming approach at the New Beverly.
For Tarantino, seeing a film on 35mm isn’t necessarily about how “good” the picture is, but rather more about texture. “I’m really about the whole culture of film prints. And they all tell a story. We’re showing ‘Junior Bonner’ coming up, [and] my print of it isn’t great, but I love that print of ‘Junior Bonner.’ I’ve shown that all over the world, and that print is fantastic,” he explained. “It’s a little washed out, it’s a little beat up, but it has character. And Peckinpah would love that print. And I don’t want to show a pristine version of it. That’s my print of ‘Junior Bonner,’ that’s how I’ve seen it for the last twenty years, that’s how I want to see it for the next twenty years. I like it that way.”
“I think all these prints have quality and personality, whether they’re pristine or not,” Tarantino added. “If you just want pristine stuff, stay at home at watch a Blu-ray. Watch Sony HD channel, have a ball. [But] leave me alone [laughs].”
Waaat no steelbook? Mane I'll get ya one. IG you have a P.O. box.
Tarantino never supervises his movies on 4k he is not a fan of the format.
Did he say why?
I’ve heard that, but the transfer itself is not necessarily dependent on the format. He could have still approved the transfer and someone else adjusted it with the hdr for 4K.
@@geneobrien8907 it's not that simple

@@chrisjfox8715 Thanks!
I didn't like the sound or picture it was too bright
The stills in this review do not do it justice... Call it CZcams compression or whatever but its pretty deceiving, id leave the terrible stills out of these reviews.
