That last part about the Pax reminded me of something i've been thinking about for a while now. The gun just doesn't really have a niche anymore, hasn't had one for months. Conversion FMJ outclasses it in every aspect, and the only ammo type unique to it, medium dumdum, is not worth dedicating your entire pistol to, you're much better off just putting one stack of those on your Springfield and leaving everything else standard. That gun is just another entry on the list of weapons trampled by big updates
I mean it has no gimmicks but its quite a reliable gun, just like the romero or the winnie c, they dont have gimmicks but still work pretty well, although i do think an extra ammo variant could be interesting
I don’t think it’s dead, I just don’t think people run it since the scottfield is cheaper and has fmj. I still enjoy pax on shotgun loads because I just like how it shoots, but I definitely wouldn’t mind the dev team revisiting it
I think the Pax still has a role to play, considering the poor velocity of the Scotty. But a little Pax buff couldn't hurt. It should lean into its medium ammo type a bit more. Considering how Scotty has FMJ now and will probably fill the role of an early game Uppercut (but without being a long ammo supplier) Pax Claw should get a melee damage buff either way. Especially if Scotty Brawler becomes a thing in the future. I know I will forever run a bayonet long rifle with a Scotty brawler if that happens and my Pax will be rusting in a corner.
I really like both revolvers but with there being no Precision or FMJ Pax it's settled into the role as the worst Medium pistol. Which sucks because it's a great gun and I wish it'd get some love
If it weren’t for the ammo I would take pax more often, but to be honest both feel great. Running vetterli with pax+fanning or running vetterli fmj with scottfield spitfire are 2 of my favorite load outs atm
@@itszaque5031 i like the Scottfield more for fanning, even befor the new varinats. Pax was my faforite if i dont had fanning, but with the Spitfire this isnt the case anymore. The only place i see for the Pax is with a Shotgun or with a Springfield + DumDum. I think they should have done a Pax-Precision instead of the Scottfield, now i can only hope for a long barrel Pax variant with increased bullet speed.
@@tobiask.7346 I think the pax precision would have been a great idea. A pax carbine might be nice, but would probably be overshadowed by the Winnie C with HV ammo in both bullet speed, reload time, ammo pool and fire rate (with perks) and would most likely be DOA.
Punchy Officer is still one of the best single slot side arms for any long weapon - rifle or shotty. Or maybe I need a forgiving close range rate of fire to not overly punish how much I miss.
The Scottfield might be the better pistol at this point, but the Pax getting dumdum rounds makes it pretty good in my books. I really like to pair it with a shotgun or maybe a sniper since the bleed makes it easier to either push or create distance. Losing wallbangs kind of sucks but as long as I don't lose pen on my primary as well it's typically fine.
Nice update, I completely stopped using the pax after these new variants. I used to prefer the sights on pax and recoil was less awkward, but gotten so used to Scottfield variants, I don't see the point in using the pax anymore.
I think for a Shotgun the Pax gives you more velocity to choose it over a Scotfield, especially if you r like me who likes easy resuply. But i have to say the choise is a loot harder with the new variants. I hope we will get a long barrel variant for the Pax, with higer velocity.

The only thing the pax needs right now is to add high valosity to it. Then it'll claim it's spot as the most lethal medium ammo pistol at range and can add to the vertili high velocity ammo pool. And maybe poison. Having a two shot poison pistol would actually make posion ammo more viable and probably would be the best way to implement it in pvp

Custom ammo had already put medium ammo pistols in weird place, FMJ and HV ammo kinda made them sorta redundant unless you needed a secondary as your only ranged option (shotgun, melee build). But the new variants of the Scofield kinda make all the pistol sorta redundant (except for the Uppercut) if your secondary is a supplement to a rifle. The spit fire is a medium ammo officer, there's nothing not to love about that, and perfect for perkless loadouts. The swift is perfect for fanning, and ridiculous when paired with a rifle sharing ammo. And the precision is linear upgrade to the nagant precision, and a great compliment to a scoped rifle or shotgun build (provided you have quartermaster).
Dual-wielded Scottfield's with the speedloaders are an excellent way to just keep laying the gunshots down on people. You don't even need to bring a 2nd pair if you run out for a fast swap!
The funny thing about it is it's still single action. You could fire any revolver in the game that fast realistically. They just need to raise the price a lil imo. It's just so good rn...
the nerf will come at some point, but in crytek manner the will just slap a higher price tag on it and call it a day (just like the officer), and it will need at least more than 6 month if it goes well, crytek kinda reacts always slow
The brawler variant that is out now for the Schofield is a spitfire with brass knuckle. All pistols have their place. The Schofield’s is in my holster. 👍🏻
I really hope they give the scottfield swift a skin, I'd say that along with the spitfire are my favourite revolvers, even with fmj being added for the pax.

As a Medium Dum Dum ammo enjoyer, Pax of course is the best option for me. I have had way too much success with Springfield Markan (1/2 dum dum) + Pax dum dum. But unless you're trolling like me, then Scott field is the way to go. Personally I'm hoping for Pax Deadeye (no stock) and a Pax Carbine (+ Deadeye). Those would be sick imo.
I think a good variant would to be add a extended barrel to the pax and give it fmj or high velocity rounds to act as a middle ground between a standard pistol and a pistol carbine.

@@GudrezBilly Nagant-P is still a very good pik, i was only talking about the Scotfiel variants. Sure Vetterli is Betterli but you cant mix it with a full size Shotgun and in this chase i like something that can pen without FMJ, does hurt even on medium distance, but still shoots fast and stabel. And yes its shoots a litttle faster than a Winnfield at least without any traits. Winni has 50, the Stockfield has 52 rpm and the Nagant-P has 63. Edit: just looked it up and Scot-P only has 52 rpm dont know why I thougt it woud be 55.
If they don't already have it , they should add the winchester 1897. It would be a repeater that fires long amunition but the draw back is you only have five shits per clip.

I really think the spitfire needs to be more expensive and not nerfed, It completely eliminates any interest in bringing Caldwell pax or officer nagant. It does both of their jobs and for barely pocket change more.
The Pax should have gotten the Percision variant instead of the Scottfield, that way both Medium ammo pistols have 2 variants and the Pax's slightly higher muzzle velocity can better take advantage of the added stability. In addition the Pax should get High Velocity ammo so that it can be paired with the Vetterli. As much as the Scottfield needed some love, it came at making the Pax kind of pointless. It's slower to reload, more expensive, and its only variant isn't very useful. The Scottfield outclasses it in almost every way, except slightly in damage and muzzle velocity. The Pax could really use some changes to make it a more viable pick, at it's current state it's just not worth $100.

I still enjoy the pax, but I certainly end up with the scottfield in my loadout more often if nothing else for the cheaper price. However, I'm feeling a scottfield precision and hunting bow loadout is going to be fun
The minor stat wins dont save Pax. Scott has better variants (like straight fucking upgrades variants because Swift does not lose velocity or range), available at the start, has FMJ and received all the best revolver variants in a single update. I'm both baffled and angry because it's crystal clear not a single dev sat down and looked at these additions in context of the general arsenal. They just wanted to add a "cool revolver", and couldn't give less shits about balancing. But hey, Bornheim is already dead so why not bury Pax too right? Not like he has any variants that could save him any more compared to Swift and Spitfire. When new guns make old guns irrelevant, that's when you know that game both has too many guns and not enough intent for balancing.
At this point, there really is no reason to *ever* take the Pax; the Scottfield is cheaper, better, and more versatile. As an old Pax fan, this makes me really sad.

At this point, there really is no reason to *ever* take the Pax; the Scottfield is cheaper, better, and more versatile. As an old Pax fan, this makes me really sad.
