Everlasting Love - Hudba
I had the great honour of being an original cast member of Chess in the West end of London, and remained in it for a couple of years. I only left because I had a TV opportunity come up. This was the perfect show, everyone was fabulous from the start, I loved every moment. And this was one of my favourite moments. It is the most underrated show ever, and Elaine was such a lovely person! Tommy was so great too, just perfect casting, I miss those days so much. I'd stand in the wings constantly moved to tears often by the music and performances!
I do remember one night though when things were held up by one of the 'drops' falling down and we had to stop and start again! But it was still a wonderful show and I loved every moment! 💖
Talking of Chess Disasters I remember working a UK Tour and the SM turning the board the wrong way on cue. The Dancers were braced oppositely. Game over, they all hit the deck.
Great Musical.
Every song is a gem! Bought it for "One Night...", and saw it in a smaller show in LA about 13 years ago, and everyone was magnificent!!
She's one of the all time best vocalists in musical theatre. Completely in a league of her own.
One of Björn and Benny's finest compositions! And Elaine sings it fabulously!
Without a doubt, it's HER song and she does it BEST! Love ya, EP!!!
The last 70 seconds of this tune is pretty fu*ken awesome.
Omg that note at 3:28 is PERFECT!!!!
It brings me to tears. Flawless!
Sure is watch the other video of her doing at nearly 70 she's still got it there
Fascinating mix of bitter, sweet, powerful, and has given up. That waving in the end is also cute. About 37 at the time.
Ughhhhhhh Elaine’s voice is flawless 🤤🤤🤤
This would've been an ABBA song, you know. I imagine for Frida, I'm not sure Agnetha could've taken lead. The fact that it ended up in Chess sung by EP is one blessing of the ABBA split.
Agnetha could have done the lead on this and Frida joined her in the chorus
Hugely underrated music, and a transcendent performance! Wow. Just...wow!
YES!
I love you! Your taste in music is impeccable
Never seen this before. She's fantastic!
Elaine is the best.
Ah! As much as I enjoy Idina, I have once again found a reason to say 'eat your heart out, babe'.
Elaine Paige is simply brilliant . What a powerful and beautiful voice.
One of 20 great songs from one of the best musicals ever-CHESS. Composed by the fantastic ABBA boys!!
The Orchestration is extra funky. I'm into it.
She is feeling the music to the extent of joining in and co-conducting the orchestra. Whatever, she will always be an incredible performer! In a magical class all her own.
Oh yeah, baby!....the way she does "promise"...2:16, love it!! Great talent, this lady. Her performance here goes way back when, but she's now celebrating 50 years on the musical stage and still going strong.
Almost a bit "Colm Wilkinson"-vibe to that "promise". Very cool!
This belonged in Chess & was EP's to sing & own. God works in mysterious ways. Much luv for EP!!!
Absolutely Stunning
Still the best
Just keep going back to 2:16
OMG - that moment is somehow hilarious, magical, and powerful!!!
YES!
She is so great!!
She is so Great!
This version almost has a hint of reggae in it... its a neat rendition! Elaine Paige is a genius... such an amazing song that is completely underrated as @hbotis said...
I like how the music is different from how it normally is. Could be that it's LIVE. The drums rock. I've always seen these lyrics as some of the best adobe about living life alone.
I know it's been over a decade, but what do you mean by "adobe" here? Asking as a non-native English speaker who has only seen it as a name for brick and software
Beyond awesome.....
Smooth... seems effortless...
Love this song. Elaine is wonderful as always!
Awesome performance! It’s like seeing ABBA again. I love her voice and how she acts what she sings!
Fantastic!!!
3:26 😭🙌🏻😭🙌🏻😭🙌🏻😭
Perfection.
Excellent!
This is goddamn amazing
an underrated song!
WOW
YEEES!
Think I went to this ! Had it on video somewhere. Is her version of "Short People" available on CZcams ? Loved it when Barbara Dickson came on right at the end to join her !
It's nearly perfection, with the exception of how she sings "never make a promise..." I hate the way she sings "promise", it drives me crazy!
This would've been an ABBA song, you know. I imagine for Frida, I'm not sure Agnetha could've taken lead. The fact that it ended up in Chess sung by EP is one blessing of the ABBA split.
