- Special concert for me as I was in the audience - seated next to radio legend John Peel.
I recorded this from BBC 2 on VHS around the same time, it seems to be a much edited version of the concert, which is a shame.
It's uploaded as I have copied all my VHS to PC and thought other Elaine Paige fanatics would enjoy. - Hudba
Ms. Paige at her very best! And that is indeed the very best!
The fringe.
I remember the 80's when all hair was up and large!
She's a trooper!
Thank you for sharing this amazing great concert. Just showing what real talent is like. No Britain got talent quick show here but real talent.
Thanks so much for posting this!
It is our pleasure, and a blessing for ya'll out there around "Planet Earth." In fact, this TY goes for everyone in this site. Music is the one thing which keeps us Advocates on our feet and centralized with the Spirit in our hearts.
Thanks for uploading - I saw this at the time it was broadcast, and always suspected bits were missing. I'm presuming she sang Memory, for example. Great show.
Vital Vocation there's probably a lot missing. You'd be disappointed if you paid fifty quid for an Elaine Paige Show and only got 40 minutes!
Her performance of 'Second Time' here is beautiful, I think Elaine herself is overcome with it. I wish the BBC had included more like this - 'Memory' and 'Sometimes' - and left out So Excited at the start, a song which is all wrong for her.
That was always the problem for Elaine - she *so* wanted to be a pop star, but some of the pop songs she tried both live and on album just didn't work for her at all and didn't do her talent justice.
So much thrusting! You go girl!
p.s. the placement of the vocal slide up an octave at 28.40 is astounding!
Very very edited it would appear. Now we begin with #imsoexcited - and Rusky, you were very excited!
00:09 - "I'm So Excited"
04:26 - "Nothing" from A Chorus Line
09:57 - "I Don't Know How to Love Him" from Jesus Christ Superstar
14:26 - "Tomorrow" from Annie
17:17 - "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" from Evita
22:30 - "Short People"
26:29 - "Nobody's Side" from Chess
30:24 - "The Second Time" Theme from Bilitis
34:49 - "I Know Him So Well" from Chess (with Barbara Dickson)
Well *Short people* and *The second time* [Bilitis theme] are songs I had not heard before - nicely put between the *Chess* songs.
And those were very contemporary [1985].
maravilha!!!...
linda maravilhosa encantadoura.
And how good was "Never be the first to believe - never be the last to deceive"?
I wonder why most of the RAH stage seems screened off?
