40 years on stage, singing and acting....terrific lady and so talented. She looks better than she's ever looked, and sings the BEST that she has ever sung! She has not lost a thing! She has become even better with age. Truly great lady, magnificent performance, great voice and theatrics. She has set the bar for others...No wonder Susan Boyle idolized Elaine. They are both the highest caliber of singers!
You are off base. She is a theatrical singer. She sings so expressively. There is no one like her. She is fabulous, classy, and a true treasure to listen to, and to watch! She is a legend, and that's why so many people idolize her.
I feel that this 40 years on stage celebration is one of her greatest performances. She sang so many wonderful songs, and just held everyone captive to her fabulous voice and talent. Stunning, great showmanship without all the gimmicks....just her! Wow! She has become my most favorite singer. Wished I could see her live, one day! Would love to meet her. She is so young for her age. I lover her acting and dramatic singing! Can't get enough!
Re: Chin: She looks absolutely gorgeous, here. Her smile is one of the best I've seen, and she has the most beautiful lips (natural, not fake like a lot of barbie dolls). Her hair style is great for this performance. And of course, at 61, here, she has put on one of the best performances, ever. She is a natural, and unbeatable talent. What a true Gem!....She is the best, and she certainly does not look her age. Try getting the DVD of this performance, it's amazing...with interview, too!
I always come back to her clips of Celebrating 40 Years on Stage Live. I think she sings all of her signature songs the best in these perfomrances. She really knows how to command an audience. What a magnificent talent, and she doesn't need all the gimmicks. It's just her and the musicians! Love her accent. Would love to meet her in person. She has some great friends, such as Bette Middler, who is also another great talent and singer. Both ladies have a great sense of humor, as well. Very classy Elaine! You set the bar for everyone! Would love to see a movie made about your career and the impact you have had on musical theater.
Also watch her interviews on TV from Britain and in the U.S. when she was selected for the role of Carlotta in Follies. And watch her dance the tango for Sports Relief or on a couple of cooking shows. She is as superb in interviews and funny to boot. Both Elaine and Judi Dench have come to American recognition later in life. Great ladies but so sad.
Elaine defines broadway theatre at its best, if it wasn't for her magnificent voice, I would not have recognized her.... Why do naturally beautiful women make themselves look so UN natural... Elaine you are such a beautiful and confident woman, why change what isn't broken....I still love you!

Sad that most Americans didn't pick up on Elaine Paige until Susan Boyle mentioned her, 40 years into her career and with less power and vocal range than she once had. However, she certainly has great stage presence, stories and humor that comes with age and experience. I far prefer EP to Patti Lepone, though I liked Betty Buckley in Cats. EP should have been able to bring at least Evita to NYC and then we would have known her in her prime. I especially like the South Bank documentary on EP.
She has that million dollar smile to go with all that great talent she has. Still very stunning, and absolutely elegant, as you said, and is the bar for anyone in theater or singing, to emulate..she has set the bar for all.

Being part of Idina Menzel's concert at Hackney's Empire in London this year shows her appreciation by a younger generation.
I like the the music for the bows and exit. It's the themes that has made her famous....If You Love, is one of the themes, and is excellent choice. She is truly the highest caliber theatrical singer, that was and IS still currently. She is remarkable in her renditions for the character she portrays when performing/singing. The BEST of the best! She has set the bar!

Amazing concert!! My only complaint is that they didn't have something better for the bows and exit music? The same 16 bars on repeat.... ugh!
