    Good vid man! Carmens Challenger is wild and I really like Davids Charger too. Davids excitment in the chat is contagous seems like a fun guy to race with. I know I have said this before but you guys down by you are so fortunate to have such a great selection of tracks and cool people. Victor has done some amazing stuff with the track in Bradenton. Is the time difference between the Plaids basically the tires and that yours is weight reduced.

      👍David is always a pleasure to interact with. Yep, the wheels are almost as much of a factor as removing the seats because that 21” Plaid never ran faster than a high 9.30 all night, whereas we consistently ran high 9.20s when full weight on our 19”s. Then this week we just ran 9.17 even without warming up the battery (Showed “8 minutes until Peak Performance”), and with 89% battery. At over 152MPH on that run as well!

    Andrew, what would/does your Plaid run on a street surface? I'm sure you've seen the latest carwow plaid vs bugatti? I'm guessing unprepared paved road would ad 0.5s to the 1/4?

    • @TeslaPlaidChannel
      @TeslaPlaidChannel  Před 8 měsíci +2

      Good question. It’s mostly the 60-foot that suffers on a poor surface.
      Last time we did Dragy 0-60 on a non-prepped track, it was around 2.3, whereas we’ve done high 1.9 at the dragstrip. So adding ~0.4 would be 9.55-9.65

    How many passes have you done on your Plaid? How often do you need to change tires? how’s the battery?

    • @TeslaPlaidChannel
      @TeslaPlaidChannel  Před 8 měsíci +1

      We are around 700 passes in this Plaid, plus 17K street miles in just over two years. Still on the original tires (19” Pirelli P Zeros) and they look really good, likely to go 25K miles or more. The battery hasn’t shown any reduction in performance. Our best pass ever was 9.15 last summer. This week on 89% charge and with “8 minutes until Peak Performance Ready”, it ran 9.17 at over 152 MPH. It’s doing just fine, likely because we don’t charge it past 80% until race day, and rarely take it to 95% or higher. (That’s why we start most track nights at 80-90%).

    Do you have the track package yet I bet that would make it even worse😂 for them Ice boys

    • @TeslaPlaidChannel
      @TeslaPlaidChannel  Před 8 měsíci

      Actually, the track pack is for road course racing and will only slow the car for drag racing. Those larger brakes don’t fit inside the 19” wheels that have given us faster ETs (PB 9.15, and 9.17 again this week) than the lightweight 20” wheels we’ve tested. Drag racers regularly downsize their rear brakes to swap their stock 18-20” wheels down to 15” wheels so they can run faster with better traction (more sidewall). We haven’t heard of one Plaid that has installed the Track Pack and had a better ET afterwards. We will pass 👍

    You talking about Brett's tires got me thinking. What tires are you running?

    • @TeslaPlaidChannel
      @TeslaPlaidChannel  Před 8 měsíci +2

      Vast majority of time: 19” OEM Pirelli P Zeros; still the original ones from delivery day, now with 17K miles and over 600 dragstrip runs (the tread looks great, and with even wear).
      Occasionally when the prep is suspect: Nitto NT01s on lightweight 20” MW03 wheels. These are more consistent but always slower than our best times with the Pirellis.

    If you gave the hit in the first race, you would have had to nail it if he didn't fall asleep at the tree.

    • @TeslaPlaidChannel
      @TeslaPlaidChannel  Před 8 měsíci +1

      👍That’s right! Looking at the move we gave the Charger in the second race (0.389), if added to our ET from the first race (9.206) would add up to 9.595, just 0.003 more than the Challenger’s ET of 9.592. (Note: When giving the hit, his reaction time is always “0.000” since his move starts the race).
      That would have been almost exactly what happened when we gave the move to the Stage 2 Dodge Demon a couple of months ago. (The Demon Driver even thought that I had beat him to the finish line.)
      So when the other car is 9.5x or better, giving the Move is risking it too much…

    How come they don't make you use a parachute? You seem to be running 150mph consistently.

    • @TeslaPlaidChannel
      @TeslaPlaidChannel  Před 8 měsíci

      We’re right at the limit. When they say “over 150MPH”, it’s up to the track to decide if 150.5 is okay or not. We’d prefer not to add one, and we take brake safety seriously: We won’t run more than 3 runs per hour and we’ve already replaced all of our brake pads 👍

  • @Matt.e_Black

    Good competitor sportsmanship always makes for a fun night at the track 👍
    Do you know what SOC Brett was on for that last run? It looks like his Plaid is newer (red calipers) so I’m guessing he’s pretty low mileage; I’m interested what it’s running at SOC with full power.
    My Plaid is running 0.1-0.15 and 1.5-2mph slower at 25,000 miles than it was in the first 5,000 miles or so. Best pass when newer was 9.30@151 and best it will do now is 9.40@148.5
    Not a huge drop in power with battery degradation but it’s still there nonetheless

    • @TeslaPlaidChannel
      @TeslaPlaidChannel  Před 8 měsíci +3

      Maybe Brett knows for sure and can comment, but I seem to recall he was like 77% *after* the run, which would be 3% less than mine (80% after the last run). This week we ran 9.17 at over 152 at BMP with 89% charge and showing “8 minutes remaining” til Peak Performance Ready. One of our best ETs ever (we’ve done 9.15 and 9.16 once each) and maybe our fastest ever trap speed

    • @TeslaPlaidChannel
      @TeslaPlaidChannel  Před 8 měsíci +4

      We are at 17K miles in ours but don’t ever charge to 100% anymore. Usually we’ll take it to 90-95% at the last minute before going to track, and arrive with 80-90% which has been working well 👍

    • @Matt.e_Black

    • @TeslaPlaidChannel
      @TeslaPlaidChannel  Před 8 měsíci +2

      @@Matt.e_Black We don’t expect to ever put the weight back, but the high 9.20s and the 9.15 PB were within a month of each other last year. Now it ran 9.17 on Thursday of this week. So maybe instead of 9.26 full weight, then 9.28 now if it were full weight? The math adds up.

They need to do a lot to compete with electric. 6 years ago the P100d. Was smoking everything. It's gave the gas cars heavy incentive to spend thousands more on horsepower. The gas guys are not ready to give up yet They might go broke trying though. 😅
