  • On a perfect summer evening we are at Toledo Union Station on the Norfolk Southern Chicago Line. Toledo Union Station was one of the last Union Stations built before Amtrak. The station was built by the New York Central and then was owned by Penn Central, Conrail, and finally the City of Toledo. They operate 4 Amtrak trains that run daily and Various Bus Lines.

I was on the Amtrack Capitol Limited nighttime Eastbound to Pittsburgh back in July of 2010. I remember very little of this station because I was tired and sleepy. The Westbound equivalent, on my trip home, doesn't compute in my memory either.

Sweet! Can only imagine what the station looked like in it's glory days.

Four Amtraks daily? Toledo gets a lot more than Cleveland over here. So many abandoned platforms, such a shame that we abandoned the train in favor of cars and planes.
