  • Everyone wants to maximize their driving distance, but there's a widespread driver issue that's silently robbing golfers of precious yards every time they tee off.
    In this video, I'll delve into the most prevalent driver fault I come across and reveal how it might be causing you to lose more than 60 yards of distance from the tee. The great news is, it's a straightforward problem to rectify.
    So, if you've ever felt challenged by this common driver fault, join me as I walk you through some simple steps to help you hit the driver longer and more consistently than ever before

    Keeping your head behind the ball has helped me immensely off the tee and eliminated my slice. At worst, I have a slight fade and I'm now hitting fairways 60-70% of the time now. Thanks!

    Thanks, Chris. This video is something that most of us know already but few are unable to do it consistently. In my case, as I get older and try to re-gain my lost distance, I find myself moving my upper body forward to exaggerate my weight transfer and then hope that it translates to more distance. This video breaks it down to some manageable pieces to work on. Thanks

    Hi Chris, something I struggle with in relation to this is high toe contact, as if my body is clearing like it would with an iron and my left side pulls the club head in causing toe contact. Any idea how to correct that? Another top notch video by the way!

    Made the change and I assume my AOA has changed massively, why have I been hitting my driver wrong all these years!! Normally carry about 230 yards but the hang time at the range this morning was unreal, easily carried 270 plus with a 20 year old nike ignite driver!!!

    Hi Chris, great video. Thank you. I have a question I’m hoping you can provide your thoughts. As an owner of the original Stealth Driver what are the benefits/advantages of the Stealth 2? I’m months away from joining the 50 years of age club and still have a single digit handicap. I’ve read all the marketing material from Taylormade however have never had any real first person thoughts. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

    Thanks as always. I think I have adjusted my swing to often hit up, but I suspect that the flight is too high now. I get the same distance as before but with less effort (not overswinging), but any wind really hurts me. How do I find the middle ground? 7:03

  • @pohoresky
    @pohoresky Před 8 měsíci +1

    Interesting to note that with irons you want upper center to win race to impact over the lower center and lower center to wing race over upper center with a driver to hit up on the ball? So the key is who wins the race to impact depending on iron play or driver play?

    I played with a chap off +0.3 last week who is 66 yrs old . He hits his driver really low and says he does that because he gets more run that way. He can hit it high as well but the end result is less distance . So for seniors like me your video last week was very useful but didn’t explain how a lower ball flight might help give more run. I hit it high but have a job getting more than 180 yds . I’m 76 mind. !

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Hey Mike, every golfer has their own optimum launch angle and spin which will achieve the most distance, that will depend on a few things. If the conditions are correct I.e. firm, hard fairways then a lower flight can be useful. In most cases hitting up but about 2-4* is optimum, but there will always be outliers who need different deliveries

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  Před 8 měsíci

      My driver is 9.25 degrees and loft is important but will be different for everyone based on how the club is swung, speed etc but the common factor is that an upward hit is beneficial for almost everyone

  • @alienrenders
    @alienrenders Před 8 měsíci

    If I start hitting it 300 yards, I'll have a 100 yard gap between my driver and my 3w. Also, 115mph club head speed... WTF?

  • @jiml9062
    @jiml9062 Před měsícem

    I subscribe and have always appreciate your teaching, as it is easy to understand and practice, but who, watching this, swings the driver at 116mph?
    Secondly, you are not the first to suggest that one should put their new TSR3 headcover down to be hit and potentially ripped , really, we pay for ours, they are not freebies, or cheap. A piece of sponge is more appropriate, which I have used. Your site does contain great content, maybe a review before posting?

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  Před měsícem

      Hey Jim, I review all my videos before posting and believe this to have some value as it is. Agreed not many swing at 116 but the message would be the same if I swung at 100 or even 85mph, my swing speed wasn’t the topic of the video
      I do recommend a head over yes, i want to make getting better as easy and accessible as possible, using something that most will have allows me to do that, I just can’t see many people going out and finding or purchasing a piece of sponge that has to be the desired size, it’s a barrier to improving that just doesn’t need to be there
      Chris

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  Před 8 měsíci +1

      If you are hitting up and finding the centre then it’s most likely swing speed that will make the different, actually have a great video ojt towards the end of the month for that with an expert on that area

    • @Vnam72
      @Vnam72 Před 8 měsíci

      @ChrisRyanGolf Maybe, but if that's the case I can't generate the speed. Loose wrists, hips/no hips, grip, swinging fast as humanly possible. Doesn't work

    • @alienrenders
      @alienrenders Před 8 měsíci

      You can carry 200. You only need 80mph club head speed for that. Have you taken lessons for your irons? You need to push up (or down depending on how you look at it) with your left leg (straighten it out) if you're right handed. So you don't actually turn the hips. I got an extra 20y on my driver just by taking lessons for my irons.
      If you still can't hit 200 yards, you're likely accelerating too soon. So we need to change when you're accelerating. Go at the range and slow down your backswing. Like really slow at the top, almost stopped, and then accelerate down. You'll have more control and will hit the ball harder. This will increase the chance of hitting it in the middle (higher smash factor) and club head speed will be higher at impact. With this, don't have a goal of 200y, but rather 170y and work your way up. As you get more comfortable, you can speed up the backswing a little but it should still be much slower than the downswing. I still slow down at the top and can hit it over 250y carry.
      But remember the tip in this video. Upper body MUST remain tilted to hit up on the ball.

    • @Vnam72
      @Vnam72 Před 8 měsíci

      @@alienrenders How much do you weigh? I think this has a huge part to it that no one talks about. Re. the above, thanks, but I have tried those things before. I need the momentum in turning up and back down to give me more speed, but will certainly try again. Yes I've had iron lessons. I can squeeze out the very rare 200 carry but based on my current strength/weight, I'm maxed out at an average carry of 185. I think a lot of club golfers over estimate how far they hit it too.

  • @TheRealLanceCummings
    @TheRealLanceCummings Před 28 dny

    It's all very nice, Chris. But your BAD swing is 110 mph. Your 294 swing is nearly 115. Nobody with a "normal" swing speed is gonna get near you. :) Just teach me how to get to, oh, 108 Chris. I *will* figure out the rest, then.
