What a weird day when you realize April is the *friendly* sister
I like to think that she wasn’t the friendly sister. They were both equally stoic and melancholy but the more time April spent with the Parks and Rec crew she changed.
Next day your cat will be gone.

April is written as a send-up of millennials as seen by Gen X: obsessed with social media but socially dead in person, unmotivated, and doesn't know much if she doesn't have Wikipedia around (such as not knowing how many days were in March). This show came out when millennials were first entering the workforce, and it was a big culture shock to the generation raised in the 70s and 80s. Keep in mind, it's PARODY, showcasing the stereotype rather than trying to illustrate the reality. Much like Ron is a parody of libertarians. Then on top of that you have Aubrey Plaza's sense of humor and comedy style.

@@CrownofMischief Not really, the two things aren't related. She doesn't care about a lot of things so it's assumed she didn't care enough about education to pay attention. You'd expect April to not know something as simple as that. Also, ironical is a word and means the same thing as ironic, it's just a really old version of the word no one uses anymore.

I always think it's cute when Ron say's "don't sass me" because he already know's April and her shenanigans.
the writers have such a solid grasp on the characters. ron and april are both misanthropes so it would be easy to give them similar lines, but when ann brings up the hospital story; april asks about the gore and ron asks about the tool. they’re both unempathetic but in completely unique ways.

Ron is the stepfather every goth girl(April) ever wanted. Quiet most of the time, never be overly/suspiciously friendly yet is always on the same page and generally just cared to each other in their own way

This show has not one bad character. Even in the clip when Ron introduces himself to Aprils sister. She says nothing but was on point as Aprils sibling . My fav show and worthy of entering my personal dvd collection to watch again and again.

The Lester and vegan bacon scenes are two of my favorite interactions between them. Wish this included the scene where Ron asks for her help in the department and she agrees only because he begged. And then they both hang up on Chris. 😂

Ron Swanson is the father she wanted but did get, I'm sure she loves her father to some degree but because of their differing personality she doesn't show it. April and her sister are the way thay are because when your around people who smile a lot and are nice all the time it wears you down after a while. And I think the reason she loves Andy is because he's different from her parents in the way as he's a goofy and is sweet in a very playful manner and he gets her to come out of her shell that she put herself in because of her parents and to feel happy.
