  • Here is the Army XV training out in Browns Camp in Portugal. During the session the team practices team plays and set plays whilst conducting 3 conditioning sessions in between to fatigue the players.
    Different positions are to run to different cones. Players run forwards then backwards then out the furthest cone. The players have 1:1 work.rest ratio which works their aerobic threshold.

    How would you set this drill out. As in what metres to out cones on?

      I set a different distance for different positions. You should rest for the same time as the effort. You could even set very specific distances for every player. Check out some MAS videos.

    What percent effort do you have the boys going at? I’m never sure how hard I should run these type of conditioning drills.

      Ideally you'd use MAS to determine each players distance but in this video we just used different distance for positions. I've made a video on MAS which is worth a watch.

      They did 3 minutes in between team players 20 sec efforts with 20 second recovery

      This is called Maximal Aerobic. Different positions have different distances to run.
