It's almost as if the producer or someone behind the scenes gave the host a signal to end it just when Akala was dropping some facts.
I really relate to things he says about being discriminated against in school. I'm not black so I never faced racial abuse but I was one of the only working class kids in a school full of middle class kids and the teachers there hated my mum and always degraded me. Growing up I felt like a mental disability that no one was telling me about coz my school always treated me like I was mentally slow. I remember I used to go to breakfast club in years 5 & 6 and at the end of breakfast club the juniors would get to go out onto the field and play football or whatever and the infants would stay behind and have a story read to them and would be taken to class by the teachers while the juniors would walk themselves to their classrooms when the day starts. U might be able to tell where this is going. Me and my twin brother were the only children in years 5&6 who were made to stay behind and listen to the story and be walked to class by the teachers like the infants. It even made is late for class on multiple occasions. Another instances that pops to mind is we used to do Christmas carol concerts at the church near our school and one year my brother got selected to read a section of the Nativity story from the Bible, on the first rehearsal he had his part of the story taken off of him and given to someone else because of his accent. He started reading in a London accent as that's where we're from and was immediately humiliated by the teachers because of it. They treated my mum even worse tho, they got social services involved with my life countless times, all thru out my childhood I was seeing different social workers and key workers all because the school simply didn't like my mum. One time I burned myself severely during an accident while making a cup of tea and I had to speak to the head teacher about it, during our conversation she kept insinuating that my mum inflicted the wounds... She didn't. Obviously this kind of thing happened often, I'd fall over at the park and come in with a grazed knee and they'd call social services and accuse my mum of beating me. I'd have a fight with my brother and turn up with a black eye and they'd call social services and accuse my mum of beating me. Etc, etc. The funny part is, they never did this to anyone else. My best friend at the time, his mum was a raging alcoholic. She would turn up to school pissed as a fart, could barely walk or string a sentence together and they never did anything about it. Social services were never called in. My mum's best friend even took the boy off of his mum and tried to gain custody of him and the school knew that he was living with her because his mum was too dangerous and yet they never called social services or even said a single bad word about this obvious junkie. It's so obvious why they did all this, we were a poor family from East London with funny accents and they didn't like us. They saw my mum as a scummy council flat London commoner and saw my and my brother as sub human. This effected my learning too, they were so horrible our accents that during guided reading or phonics or anything regarding speaking I would pretend I couldn't read certain words just to avoid being picked on for my accent. I even had my own teaching assistant, the only other two children to have teaching assistants were a dyslexic boy and an autistic girl, I have no learning disabilities. All the teaching assistants ever did was humiliate me and make me feel stupid. And again this had a mental effect on me, thru out my entire life I've been convinced I have mental disabilities that no one's telling me about and even when I was screened and proven not to have any learning difficulties I still feel like my brain doesn't work properly, literally I remember a year ago I was in school completely zoned about, feeling like shit telling myself that I have autism and everyone's hiding it from me because I missed one social queue from a kid I rarely ever spoke to. I was always put on the special needs table or the lowest graded table in primary school and was consistently given work that was too easy for me, I was even put on a programme called lexia, which is a platform with learning based computer games made to help children with learning disabilities... I had to request to be leveled up because it was too easy and I found it boring. Everyone else in there was leveling up by completing tasks. The list goes on, I ain't got all night to type a comment that no one will read
This is sad. Sorry this happened to you.
They put my biracial friend in a foundation unit at school where they were given D level GCSE work and couldn`t get a grade above that, years later he went to college and got an A grade in GCSE English.

His Dad is also Black and when Blacks referred to mixed race as half cast, not realising that it's a negative wording it was the police and those power's to be that referred to them as Black. They may or may not have European features but they don't look white and nine times out of ten, they have tightly curled hair just like their black ancestors. Furthermore the way that they are treated is very much the same treatment that Black people receive on a daily basis and that is a fact.

Interesting discussion, those from private schools are destined to be high flyers however if they are of colour will be more of a struggle. I guess next in line are the grammar schools who probably end up getting jobs that make Eton educated executives look good. Remaining public school educated individuals where white counterparts have it easier to get into jobs or university places compared to the ethnics.

Successful students do their homework consistently and read books often. Good literature teaches sentence structure and advanced vocabulary. Students who do very little reading will have more problems with advanced collegiate study. College requires work-at least 2 or more hours for each hour in class. There are a few brilliant students who can do less work but these students are the exception rather than the rule.

The subtle baiting that seems to be the trend format applied to any interview to dictate the narrative of a discussion quickly fell apart from the clear frustration of the host and panel. Bit of light hearted ownage on Akala's part, pretty amusing.

I went to a secondary modern school failed 11 plus was bullied by teachers and the students in the 1980s rampant racism was top 3 in English on maths and still told I would be in the bottom sets as a punishment. Was nearly expelled. Ridiculed by my teacher when I said I wanted to learn Spanish because I found French challenging. Now I have three masters degrees I worked in policing and government run my own business I'm a policy adviser in human rights equality and counterterrorism I have written five children's books a novel and I'm absolutely fluent bilingual in Spanish. I was thrown out of A-Level Biology for being too informed. I proved the teacher wrong by bringing in my encyclopedia on fungi... then I was told I'm causing a distraction... and promptly moved to an adult class on Wednesday evenings between 20:00 and 22:00 hours at night, and far away from where I lived. Ended up dropping out. 🤔

I took an IQ test in 2008 and scored 78 in one test, 79 in the next test and 84 in the verbal test, the woman testing me said I would struggle to do normal work in a job! The past grade for an IQ test is 85 and in America I would be put in a special needs room yet 2 years ago I did an IQ test on the computer and scored 90, what a load of bull.

Perhaps in fairness, I should of watched the whole episode first before forming a opinion the interviewer isn't as bad as I first thought therefore I shall hold my hands up and admit to being wrong in judging him, his just comes across for me as a annoying little prick. As for Akala despite doing well for himself, he continues to play the game rather well up to a point, you see in his countless interviews never once have I heard him acknowledge God, and that worries me somewhat simply as I wonder what his ultimate objective is, and wonder what his agenda is. Racism is an ideology and a construct built by Europeans. As with all of the isims such as socialism, communism and capitalism theres is a structure and a doctrine that is followed. Racism is no different. Laws have been institutionalized and attitudes have bren formed through the implementation of racism by Western societies for centuries. Those of us that have historically been affected by institutionalized racism and explicit and implicit racism have a right to speak on how it has affected us whether you like it or not. Those of you who have benifited from this ideology do not have a clue. We are the experts on racism since we are the victims of it. It is a well oiled machine that is on all the time and the noise that it makes has provided background noise for so long whites dont even hear it anymore.
