I have question for you . I have been debating with people on car soft roofs for convertable and i knew that the aftermarket roof sheets had way less qualitythan the original no matter year of car they originate from like for exemple my 1968 Pontiac Parisienne convertable whitch need a new roof when i bought it for restoration .
Many guys on facebook sites for car restorations suggested me some places where prices were unbeatable and when i did each ones had prices ranging between 250 and 500 brand new . Right there i started to get suspiscious about about the durability and longivity of a roof in those price range . Not to mentioned that i was raised in the wyers that those cars were created and this made no sens to me that the same roof that you bought in 1968 at the cost of 300 to 500 dollars would still be the same prices today . It simply made no dam sens unless the one in those prices were aftermarket with a very low quality and durability . So right there i decided to not buy a roof untill i was sure that this was my only option or that i was wrong and that they had the same quality . And as suspected i found only one company who made the original ones at the same spec as the original in 1968 and they were located in the states . And when i asked them what was the difference between the aftermarket ones of today and the ones with the real specs of 1968 they answered this '' while after market soft roof are fairely good for their -prices their quality goes even with their prices . and in the case of original specs the quality also goes even with the prices and since the ones with the original spec are much thicker than the after market ones their durabilty last way much longer not to mention the higher quality of the material they are made of . and lets just say that the prices for a real soft roof withthe same wuality as as the original ones was way higher than an after market one like way more expensive like in the four digits with the number 2 in my case .
do you think that this was a right statement or was i mislead ? cause after i bought the real one i compared mine to the ones on some other peoples with after market one and yes there was a huge difference in thickness and i also notice a huge difference in the texture of the material wich mine seemed more like the original one than the after market one .

People are cheap or just don't have the money to replace with oem parts..That's why their is a aftermarket like auto chain stores..

aftermarket for the win! once you fuck up the front, then even using an oem wont bring it back to factory specs. by then youll sell your car

Hmm, how about that... Ford ran tests on their parts vs other's, and the Ford OEM parts were far superior.
It's almost as if they want you to buy their own parts.
Tip: If you're comparing parts between two companies, don't go to one of the two companies for an unbiased review.

OEM parts always fit better and last longer. Engineered vs knockoff

So how is that and upon what do you base your assertion? Let's use 6:44 as our example. The presenter makes the assertion Ford uses a 1-piece of boron steel with a full seam weld down the middle. Then he asserts the AM uses a weaker beam with spot welding for the same part. How is he fooling us and how have you determined this? Does Ford use a 1-piece of boron steel with a full seam weld down the middle? Does the AM part use a weaker beam with spot welding?

@@mitch1847 dont bother most of people who object to these videos are people ho sell aftermarket parts and some are the ones that repare with aftermaket parts and charge the price of grade A quality parts on their bills something that the customer cannot see on the final bill . I for one have worked on the mecanic industry for 40 years and never have i seen an aftermarket outlast or out class an OEM . Take the bumper of a 2008 chevy pickup truck rear bumper , can you bend it with your hand and see it try to bend ? no you cant cause that steel will simply not budge , but you can do that with an aftermarket one right out of the box and bend it without being even installed yet and once its on the truck its even easier to twist it . sure it comes back into place when you let go but you know what i mean .
