    It really annoys me when they invent all of these excuses and reasons why they joined LIV. The only reason is money and for what it is worth, I get it. No need to be embarrassed. If someone is stupid enough to throw that much money at you for doing an easier job, I get why you would take it. Stop with all of the nonsense reasons, we are not daft.

Why can't the PGA have player contracts like other athletes? Organizations like the PGA made these golf stars. Why should they get all the exposure, growth and top level competition to hone their skills and become
      Household names enabeling them to earn millions in advertising endorsements and then just walk away? I think they should be under contract. I have no interest in watching a golfer, becoming a fan and supporting that player young and coming up, knowing they will just walk off the green when as soon as an organization with millions decides he's ripe for the picking.
      I'm watching the FedEx St. jude championship and I don't recognize 1/2 the names! I see Justin Thomas, Finau and Fowler playing and their tem mates are gone. The players have to sign a membership contract to abide by the tours rules. These rules are made by the players. The LIV players broke the rules after they were warned. So go play the LIV tour all you want, but don't bother coming back here, you're not welcome. It's plain and simple. By Bryson, have fun with your exhibitions. The 4 majors are governed by their own respective associations. LIV is probably not going to get world ranking points, because their events are 54 holes. The PGA has already changed the upcoming format. More players get paid and more money goes to the winners and top players. It’s still not at the level of LIV but they know it’s time to change. Personally I think the PGA will have to merge or accept the new LIV tour. Tiger only has a few years left and that is the biggest prize for anyone. Rory is good but not the draw of Tiger and as more young players go to LIV or even their version (I’m guessing that’s coming) of the “minor league” tour the pga will be begging for some sort of resolution.
    If the manufactures haven’t dropped the players who have gone to LIV and the players still get sponsor money what leverage does the pga have? TV rights? Nope. LIV is already looking at going to Australia and the pga never managed that so they better get some new leadership or they are doomed. In the end it’s good for the game to have new formats and more competition. Golf is a tough game to sell to kids and youngsters. It takes something special to take some kids away from tv or video games or even a pickup basketball game to go play for 4 hours or more and have to pay to play around rules and old school dress codes. Golf has to change things up!

From how he swings, to the clubs he helps design and the way he plays the game, anyone surprised by his decision to step away from the antiquated thinking of the PGA has not been paying attention. If the PGA is really what it thinks it is...the holder of the sacred cup, they would not need to threaten, retaliate or even respond to models like LIV and the others that will surface. Golf is an amazing game and deserves to grow into the forms that engage the most people. Despite it's growth, the fact that the PGA has held the sport hostage for so long is unfortunate. Golf cannot be compared to other mega pro sports like baseball or basketball. The economics and logistics make that impossible. However, it can be compared to other professional sports. Imagine if motor sports had followed a similar path where all professional races were controlled by a single group. • @braxtondeets3365
    @braxtondeets3365 Před rokem +6

    Good interview, I like the question comparing counting cards to golf technology. Perfecting your golf swing isn’t a strategy that is statistically the same over time. It’s repeatable, but not as repeatable as counting cards. Similar but not the same. The rules of golf are pretty in-depth and a person like Bryson can do it any way he so chooses as long as clubs and technology (on course) are conforming to the USGA, PGA Tour, and course rules. For someone who doesn’t know a lot about golf it might appear as an unfair advantage but it totally isn’t at all. Bryson is not breaking any rules. He’s proud of his golf swing and his approach to the game and it’s a great success story and good message to understanding golf.

  • @PaulSchober
    @PaulSchober Před rokem +5

    Perfect question from Tucker. Golf - the PGA version - has always been a hallmark of pure capitalism, pure meritocracy. If you don't literally "make the cut" the first two rounds, you go home actually losing money (you have to pay expenses for you and your caddie, including his salary). You only get a paycheck (and the resultant sponsors, hopefully) if you play well.
    Now the LIV is changing that. It's basically turned a boxing "prizefight" into a salaried UFC, with players following the orders of their bosses.
    Kudos to Tiger for apparently turning down about $730 M.

    • @alberttate8198
      @alberttate8198 Před rokem

      $730M was too low. If Tiger was CEO of LIV, then they would have a broadcast partner in a few weeks, more fans. People would show up just to see Tiger at the event and possibly tee off.

    • @PowersFamily2011
      @PowersFamily2011 Před rokem +1

      Wrong. Sponsorships already turned PGA golf into a "boxing prize fight". Except players just wear advertisements on their clothes for guaranteed money...including the opportunity to sit on their butts and play when they feel like it. The LIV Golf format has a team aspect where the up and coming stars are placed on teams with veterans. The veterans continue to play hard throughout the whole tournament to help their teammates get money for their families. LIV golfers don't get to sit out of tournaments. Their best 48 play every tournament and the shotgun start essentially adds pressure to every shot because the leaders can't really play it safe....and they all play the same weather conditions. If the top 48 golfers in the world played at LIV, then we would basically get to see a major championship for every event. Instead we get the PGA Maxi Pad Memorial where the top 20th golfer is the strongest in the field. Get real.

      I think Tiger has been paid handsomely, like a few million extra per appearances in Dubai and other places on his personal global golf journeys. If he was 28 or 30 and healthy, he would have gone in a minute.
      This is not what it appears to be, similar to just about anything that we've seen since March 2020.
      Tiger can barely make it around the course these days, he is not going to fight against those who've helped him become the biggest name in Golf.

      @@PowersFamily2011 Thank you. They also don’t talk about the time it actually takes to actual play tour golf. You barely get time to see your family. You barely get rest. Then they force players to play a certain number of events to qualify for the postseason. Even though you need to qualify on points. Who cares how many events you play if you have the right amount of points? The people at the top making the money. People bring up Tiger as if he wasn’t the first sporting billionaire and isn’t one now. Over 90 percent of his money was made off the course. Also conveniently people forget about “The Match” thats way more like a prize fight being 1v1 and on pay per view
