    Our food might be a little different than what you're used to back home. It's not uncommon to hear Americans here say they miss the flavors they get in the States. That's probably because American taste buds are all about those bold familiar flavors, you know, the ones you find in fast food, Italian joints, Mexican places and Chinese takeout. Our SA food uses a whole different spice rack with unique herbs and ingredients that create a whole new flavor party in your mouth. It might seem weird at first but trust me your taste buds can adjust. Just keep giving it a try and you might be surprised how much you start to love our SA flavors. Keep up the awesome content! ❤😊👍🏼

      Very true! That’s what I would call American food - boldy flavored. But I do have some favorite things here

    It's so sad to hear that your family werent supportive of you moving to SA and I am glad that the videos convinced them otherwise. I don't know if you know Mansa mayne but he was also shocked at how SA tastes better than the ultra processed foods in the US. I also appreciate your honesty in everything you didn't like and please stay warm this winter.

      Sometimes people fear the unknown, luckily I’m not one of them (: but it’s nice to know many have changed their perspective on SA.
      And we are (or at least trying 😅) / stay warm as well!

    Yeah we have a sugar problem in SA, so the government in the late 90s or early 2000's imposed a sugar tax that's why you find some products from the US like certain cereals are super expensive its because of the sugar contained in them, so i guess some companies found a way to get around that by adding aspartame which is also not good. I think generally, being able to make your own treats and foods from scratch is always a good idea no matter where you are in the world, these big corporations and businesses are in business to make money and not get people healthy, which is a shame.

    The overt differences in socialisation between AAs and South Africans lies in the fact that AAs are the minority in the US and do not control both the politics or the economy of that country. This means that life for African Americans is a constant struggle for recognition and inclusion. In Soth Africa, black South Africans control the politics of the country and make up the majority of the population. They are therefore able to set the political agenda inorder to develop themselves and force economic inclusion for black people without the need to be assisted by white liberals. Its only our parents who could truly understand the constant sense of alienation that AAs endure everyday because they went through the same thing. Political power in SA has allowed black people to develop the second largest black middle in the world, seond to the US. This has taken only 30 years.

    • @TayllorChanise
      @TayllorChanise  Před měsícem +1

      Very true. How things would be different in America if Black Americans really had power and the ability to change the system to work with us instead of against.

  • @lifestylepretoria9181

    You are so on point on the quality of food. The forced AGOA agreement has destroyed our agricultural sector . Fruit and Vegetables used to taste great. Now we have seedless produce.
    The ground meat is suspect unless bought at Halal butcheries.
    Toothpaste, we buy the none fluoride ones from wellness pharmacies or Dischem
    We used to have Macadamia purified water but the business moved away from where we live. It is called Kusini Water.
    So much unhealthy things have snuck in since 2015 or so it is scary.
    We are not big on snacks and fast food. That I still admire about us as South Africans. We mostly prefer fresh whole foods and home cooked meals.
    I now appreciate that we have a choice of eating healthier, I took it for granted. The privilege is getting highlighted as I learn how expensive other countries can be.

    • @TayllorChanise
      @TayllorChanise  Před měsícem +1

      Wow thank you for this information. I’ve gotten into eating mainly halal meats and I’ve got to say I truly love it. We didn’t have that option in mainstream stores in the states.
      And yes, the cost of good quality food compared to the States is soooo affordable. I really do love that because you would have to nearly go broke to buy high quality fruits and veggies back home.

    Tayllor Chanise, I love your channel. I’m very happy for you & your family making the move so young. This is a very wise choice and a great choice for the safety & development for your children. I’ve been to SA and plan to return soon. I hope to meet up with you for lunch or brunch whenever I return. Yes, stay far away from that aspartame it is a known carcinogen. I’m surprised this is allowed in SA, this junk is NOT allowed in UK. Government always targeting Africans & African Americans trying to kill us or use us in a study that we never gave consent. To my SA family, research the Tuskegee Syphilis Study.
