This whole performance brought me tears I never thought I'd see a woman of colour play classical piano it gives me hope to continue my musical studies at Trinity college thank you so much thank you🥺🥺🥺🥺 I can't express how much this means to me as their have been many racist people who have thought bad of me practicing thank you Isata
I went to Trinity. I don't know why the colour of someone's skin should dictate what music they are allowed to play? White people play the blues don't they?
Playing music has nothing to do with your physical appearance, just close your eyes and listen.
@@rachelthomas9962 I wish other people thought like you...🙂
Nooo you must go on !! Think to the very very great black diva in the opera....there are many ....nowadays the first dancer in the Opera in Paris is a young beautiful and very kind black dancer ! Time are changing....it also depends on you ! No fear and go on !
❤
The way she played the same phrase at the start twice but they sounded completely different. Amazing
This is sublime. Recently studied the Romantic period. Clara Schumann seems under-rated.
Oh. Tell me about it. She is. Clara, and Felix Mendelssohn's sister Fannie. Both were totally ignored for the most part during their time, and it was remarkably sad, TBH.
Isata is a passionate player! It does bother me that people think of Clara Schumann as some sort of sideline composer. Her work has its own voice and makes its own statement. So many people think this about women composers. First of all her name is Clara Wieck. She married Robert Schumann and then added his name. He ought to have added hers. She was the pre-eminent pianist of her time and without her Brahms and her own husband would've not become who they were to become. I listen to the way Isata peforms her work and she really brings out something amazing and special in it-- that is to say the unique voice of Clara herself. (AT least from my POV)
I'm reading a Brahms bio right now, and that's why i ended up here. Everything you said matches the book....and much more. She had an impossible road, but she met every challenge. At times, she carried both Schumann and Brahms, relentlessly championing and performing their works, while being a single mom of 7 children, and composing her own works. Unbelievable.
From mine as well. 💜🎹💜
She was one of several preeminent pianists of her time. FTFY
Yes I am reading Clara Schumann by Steegman. Essentially her father didn't want her to marry Robert because Clara's career was stronger and he knew their marriage would put her in the background. She had already toured and met many famous composers in her teenage years. It was her who would play some of Robert's music in private settings to try to promote him. She also was incredibly strong during their marriage seeing as Robert had many mental health issues.
ew cringe feminist comment hahahahaha. u mad???? keep crying hahahaha dumb feminist
Amazing work of Clara Schumann, wonderful interpretation by Isata. Added to my playlist.
Beautiful, amazing, soul-shaking! I believe Clara Schumann Wieck would be impressed. Bravissima, maestra Isata 👏💖 !
Would be so incredible to be able to hear Clara play this piece...her own!
Haven't stopped listen to Classic FM since watching Isata and her incredible family on Christmas Day.
I really can’t get enough of those beautifully nuanced sections from 0:18 to 0:25
Absolutely beautiful and heartfelt. That sensitivity...is so lovely.
Thank you so much, Justin, for alerting us to that beautiful passage - very brief, but scintillating and so delicately nuanced! Isata is wonderful. ~ Michael
Not a piece I know, but wow! Such a talented musician, so expressive.
Look at her, she is LIVIN right now
What exquisite music-making by a sensitive and gifted pianist! A worthy complement to the magical spiritual and artistic essence of Clara Schumann!
Everything is beautiful here, the music, the musician, the passion. I love it.
Beautiful playing with elegance. This is what makes the piano so beautiful. Beautiful enough to make people shed tears of joy
I felt the notes of this piece resonate within. Clara Schumann's work is superbly played here by Isata Kanneh-Mason!
Divine! Incredible! Thank you! Such sensitivity and depth of feeling, wisdom, technical mastery-wonderful!
...und wie schön der langsame Mittelteil, ich krieg Gänsehaut... Tolles Stück, tolle Interpretation.
Amazing….. my bedtime music for this evening.. beautifully played and yes, l do believe Clara Schumann is very underrated…. A fabulous composer in a time women weren’t…sad….. her music is wonderful…..and played like this…SPECTACULAR….. bravo Isata…
Amazing. She is one of tomorrow's piano superstars.
Tomorrow's.....? She is now.
@@jimcates2521 I'm delighted to hear that.
Amazing interpretation, technique, tone, musicality....this pianist is AMAZING!! I’m so glad CZcams suggested this piece to me!
Brava! This is my first hearing of ANY Clara Schumann work, and I don't know whether Isata's interpretation is influencing my perception, but I greatly look forward to hearing more of both!
DOUBLE brava!! 😁🎼🎶💯❤
A lovely practitioner of Clara Schumann works. excellent.
Gorgeous music, gorgeous playing.
Fantastic, still listening, weeks later. What a discovery, its so emotional and touching. To be honest, it grabs me more than most of her (Clara Schuman's) husband's work...
incredibly beautiful played
Восхитительно!! И технично и с душой, все так чистенько!!! Браво!
Love me some Isata!
You go girl! Magnificent!!!
From awe to pride to tears to fabulous awe, what a truly amazing human being to have this passionate, meticulously interpreted, story-telling music flow through her and touch us this way. Thank you for posting. Looking forward to more from her.
Just beautiful..a wonderful pianist
wonderfully talented young woman
You are so right! She is very special It's like the music and her is united!
Superb!🥰❤
Magnificento! (Bowing to the Queen)
i love how she brought out the melody at 0:47
Watching and listening to this young girl so talented brings memories of similar feelings about young Martha Argerich. I didn't see the Argentinian pianist wearing white sneakers, but from there up are strong similarities, the same smooth technique and expressiveness. This is also the first time I hear some composition by Clara Schumann, and I find it very pleasant.
it's wonderful after 200 years to know Clara's music is still remembered and cherished...this young lady has a great career ahead of her....
She probably didn't sport dreadlocks either - but it wouldn't have been the Argentinean thing to do, I s'pose...
@@PeterBrodie These are braids not dreadlocks
toscanaremi, thanks for correcting me. I need to learn the difference between them!👍
Gorgeous and expressive! making that piano sing. Bravo!
"Absolutely Love It".....🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿❗💪🏿
Mrs.Isata Wonder Woman!!!!!!💐💐💐💐💐💐💐🌷🌸🌻🎆
Ms. Isata you are a gift from Haven. Your expression and rubato are exquisite. Definitely something I want to hear often. Brava
Got this on repeat! Beautiful and moving, thank you 👍
the whole Romance album is outstanding
Great expression! Fantastic performance :)
Great talent. I didn't know that piece. Who says that Clara Schumann was a sideline composer, none of it all. She was a great musician.. Tank you for uploading
nobody SAYS it but how often are her works programmed?
Clara wasn't a "sideline" composer. She was a great child prodigy in piano and composing. She sacrificed her career to raise her family and take care of her husband - Robert Schumann -who was seriously ill and eventually died in an asylum. She went back to concertiizing and showcasing her husband's music after his death well into her late seventies. She wasn't a "sideline" composer. She is to be admired all these years later!
Love, love, love romantic composers and this interpretation is sublime. ❤
Bravissima! 😍
So sweet and smooth touch
Like clouds moved gently
By a gentle warm breeze of the wind
Were colour is no issue
Just beauty what I feel
When I close my eyes
No judgement
All I hear
Is a pearl playing
And leave my heart
In sweet tears
Lovely - will keep listening to help me shape phrases of my own!
You inspire perfect joy.
Very beautiful. It sounds like a combination of Schumann and Chopin.
And Mendelssohn! :)
It's not a combination of anything. It's Clara Schumann doing her thing
And Camille Saint-Saens.
@@princelaugh-a-lot5551 It would make a lot of sense for her to have influence from both, as she greatly admired Chopin and not only did she and Robert have the same piano/composition teacher, Robert taught and helped her in her early stages of composing. While she certainly has a very individual voice and style, Chopin's and Robert's influence on her is undeniable
Wow beautyfull playing!
Magnificent !
I am listening to this on WCRB. I love both of these women.
Wow. Beautiful!
Love the piece and the interpretation 👍👍👍
really compelling and beautiful rendition.
How beautiful, and beautifully played
Exquisite

Wonderful piece and well played. A little bit like the song “Er ist gekommen“…

IKM revivifies! Fabulous advocate for resurgent Clara: both women to celebrate
Great!!!!thanks a lot!!!!Nívea, Brasil
Clara Schumann was almost as gifted as her wonderful husband, and this pianist lady is totally enchanting!

I like the sneakers! I say where what you need to wear to be comfortable.
nice playing
that shoe....... mann
Zo gevoelig gespeeld, wat een expressie ...schitterend!
A great piece played by a great musician. Glad I found this!
Came here after watching Heart Of The Keys, stayed for a suрerb рerformance!
Here thanks to the game Ben and Ed and it's a really chill soundtrack
So who influenced who?
Did Clara influence Robert or the other way around?
The logical answer is that both both influenced one another.
Black Gurl Magic

Very imptessive.
all i can say is wwwwwoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowwwww
She doesn’t look like Katherine Hepburn but she’s really playing this piece
Even less famous to rare classical pieces written by a 19th century Romanticist classical musical era German woman.
Finally black classical pianist, not jazz
老黄不仅养鸡,还有鸭子混在其中呀,鸡蛋🥚鸭蛋一起收,泡咸鸭蛋多来劲呀,真是幸福的日子万年长😊
2020 - 2026 or ELSE!~ EXODUS
I had no idea that a modern day Black girl in England or America could play so well like that or be talented to the point of being lovingly enthusiastic about it.
These girls seem to play all the instruments, not sure which is which :-)! But they grew up, mummy should buy them ladies' shoes.
