- SUPER EXCITED to show you all the complete build of my Den Outdoors pre-fab cabin kit.
Ever since I started my professional career my goal was to buy land and build an off-grid cabin. I have no clue why, since I really am a city slicker at heart. This was my north star. When my career pushed me to my breaking point I found solace in knowing one day I would have my own little slice of heaven and the American dream.
I recently invested in a new Den Outdoors A Frame Cabin Kit for a glamping project I am showcasing here on youtube. It's a $21,000 a-frame cabin kit you can order online and get shipped to your land by Den Outdoors. I'm excited as hell for this project and excited to start a glamping business.
Be sure to subscribe to the channel to follow along as I continue to build out this cabin and my glamping site.

This is my most requested video and I'm happy to deliver it to you guys. I didn't want to tease you and chop this video into 4-minute clips and string you along because I respect your time. Thanks for the view and please help out the channel by liking the video or leaving a comment as that is the only way independent creators here can get noticed. Thanks!
Another Den A-frame in the wild! Nice work Jaime, looks great!
This looks so intense! I'm glad you saw this through the finish line. Super fun to watch!
Glad you enjoyed it! It was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. Glad I got to the finish line.
Finally, the cabin build! This is what I subscribed for. Looks awesome man.
Glad to give the people what they signed up for! Let me know any other type of content you'd like to see.
Loved the video! It’s so cool to see your support system out there with you helping!
I'm def blessed and lucky to have them. Thanks for watching the video! Hope you liked it.
Nicely done! I am definitely going to keep this in the back of my mind every time I am driving through the middle of nowhere. Good music!
Well done Jamie and team! Brilliant job!
Thanks! It means a lot coming from you as you guys and your channel actually inspired me to build this.
Turned out great, thanks for sharing! Making me super excited to start building ourselves, you should feel super accomplished, congrats!
Thanks guys and good luck to you and your build! I have been watching the videos since you guys started and you are giving out great advice as well!
Wow, Totally tuned in, that came along nice mate!
Thanks bruv, i'm pretty happy with the finished project. I still need to outfit the inside and make it extra nice but so far so good.
Great job my dudes and dudettes! WELL DONE! Would love to see more like this! Enjoy your castle!
Hopefully more to come on this build and future builds!
Looks good 👍😃! Thanks for the links and GBU 😃. Hope to see inside and your plan for that.
Thank you man and GBU too!!! I will definitely follow up with this build here on the channel. I will be sure to do a full tour of the cabin after it is furnished and the last little bits like interior trim our complete.
So intense but it looks amazing! Kudos to those who helped you. I'm excited about the interior, will you have a video about how you decided to furnish/source your aesthetic?
Hey Gabby, thanks. You can now finally stop texting me to hurry up and post the cabin video lol. And yeah, thats the plan, I am definitely going to follow up this video with an update on the interior and to answer the questions I'm getting on it.
What an awesome job!
Thank you! Michelle, it was pretty touch but i'm happy with how it came out. I was nervous it was not going to look like the pictures they have on their website lol. I'm happy with how it came out though.
Really cool transformation!
I agree. Its wild that my once raw land now now has a full structure on it.
Excelente vídeo.
Ótimo trabalho.
Parabéns e muito obrigado !
Paz 🙏☺👊
Looks great!
Totally awesome , great choice of project and what a good decision.
Wow thanks man, I normally get so much hate on this video its nice to get an uplifting comment every now and then.
@@KeepItTiny the nasty mail comes from those that never do anything on their own. You did it , you are happy about it mostly , that us all that counts.
Love that trapezoidal Pella glass wall! Inspirational.
Me too! That giant window in the back is the reason I decided to go with this tiny home in particular.
@@KeepItTiny It's lovely but at a cost no doubt. Worth it though.
Very cool. After having gut renovated a Brooklyn townhouse, I think this might be my next project somewhere north of Manhattan.
Please do it and show us how it turns out!
Man what a cool vid! Thank you
Thanks for the comment, glad you liked watching the build.
good job great job im gonna copy the colors of this for mine
I love the way the large black structure contrasts with the sea of green. It stands out in the best way.
You got me break dancing over here 😂. Love the A-frame 🔥
HAHA thanks man, glad you liked the build. It took me soooo long to find music for this video because I didn't want to do the folky relaxing music that everyone uses for these types of videos on youtube. I wanted to use music more in line with what I actually listen to.
@@KeepItTiny only feedback was you should of kept triangle unpainted. It looked dope with a little contrast with the black color. But other than that I loved it!
I was actually very close to doing that! Mid build I just stopped and said, hmmm, maybe I just keep it like this it does look pretty solid. I decided not to though as I really like the burnt black look of a large all-black structure in a sea of green grass and trees.
@@KeepItTiny nonetheless, it looks great. Can’t wait to see it completely furnished and generate money.
Nice Work Buddy
This is dope! Got here by watching your video of “reasons not to get into this” but it’s the transparency I appreciate . Please post listing
Hi Keisha, I appreciate the comment and you rocking with my videos! I originally wasn't planning to post the listing here on youtube but I've been getting some requests so I may do it. Maybe even have a video all about making the perfect listing. That could be cool. Thanks for the idea!
That does not look as easy as the website made it sound. Glad you got it done. Please make a follow-up video giving us a tour of the finished cabin.
Haha I agree for sure. Def not as easy as I had hoped for. Full cabin tour video coming soon!
The follow up tour can be found here: czcams.com/video/-jOFqsXSlXU/video.html
Such a feat and you did an amazing job! What incredible friends - i loved the girl sitting in the back of the truck "securing" the haul lol. So would you do one of these again?
Glad you liked it!! FYI I love your retro camper! We need to chat about it because it's so cute and smart. I love everything about it. But back to this a-frame, I think I would have started smaller. The product you get is great, the cabin is sturdy, awesome, and stylish. The only downside is the price. It's just too expensive to recommend to everybody. Plus, as you are doing, there are cheaper ways to get into the game. This is just the easiest. I knew that and decided to pay a bit more to get up and running quickly since I have a full-time job, etc.
Tiny but so cute.
Thanks! I love my little a-frame!
I love this!!
Thanks! I have a few follow up videos on my channel if you'd like to see what it looks like now
@@KeepItTiny yes! Will check
Thanks for sharing! You guys did an awesome job! What was the most difficult thing?
Thanks man! There was a few tricky parts. I will make a whole video on that coming soon but I think the hardest part of the build process was the exterior walls. Since two people had to be up on a ladder pretty high and get the tongue and groove zip panels to fit into place. Also, who has two of these very tall ladders just laying around? I sure didn't.
Awesome bro I'm thinking of doing something similar thanks for the insight
No problem 👍🏽 I learned so much from this build and very happy with how things turned out. Yes there are some things that need to be worked on but still happy. Lastly, the best part is I feel like I am so ready to tackle another project. I came away from this so much smarter and well versed on these type of things.
@@KeepItTiny that's awesome man the only thing we can do is learn and get better. Can't wait to see some more awesome videos keep up the good work!
Very nice, but in Hawaii at least, code requires a fire escape on both sides of a structure.
There is a hammer under the bed, break the window. Boom, you've got a fire escape lol 🤣😅
@@KeepItTiny that works. 😉
Absolutely awesome build man
Thanks man, i'm glad you liked the build. I wish it was as easy as it looked in the video lol.
@@KeepItTiny Yes I think everyone wishes it was that easy lol
Awesome build looks gorgeous :)
Thank you! 😁
Awesome
Very nice job and looks great. How is it anchored to the ground?
That thing'll look awesome with a floating deck around it! What are you doing for bathroom/shower?
Good question! I'm currently building an bathhouse that will live next door to the cabin with a composting toilet and shower.
HBD to your video, sir!
Thats crazy! I didn't even notice that - thanks for bringing it to my attention. They grow up so fast don't they? Soon this video will get its drivers license then off to college it goes.
Nice build. How's it holding up to your wether conditions? Is the maintenance easy?
Really Cool♥️🥂
Thanks for the positive vibes!
did you add insulation in the roof/walls? how do you plant to keep it warm? what is your overall opinion about this type of cabin, what do you like/dislike? congrats, it looks good.
Wow thats a lot of questions lol - I did insulate the walls and floor. I plan on keeping the cabin warm with a propane heater attached to the front wall. Overall I think this type of cabin works for some people and doesn't work for others. I gave my full opinion in this video: czcams.com/video/xMBfXWMZxEc/video.html
Off topic but I'm digging the intro music. What is that?
Thanks man, its some generic track that I purchased from a website. Those sites are like going thrift shopping. ALOT of trash and like 1 in every 100 tracks are gonna be amazing. I love this one so much I basically made it the theme song to this youtube channel.
Gloves & masks while using that insulation! What holds it down to stop it being blown over?
nice job! What was the land zoned for? Recreational, residential....
Hey there, nice work. I apologize if this has already been covered in your comments - what was recommended as far as foundation and what did you use? Looks like soft earth, I'm thinking maybe I'd go with post and beam if the idea is that the cabin stays there permanently? I build Aircrete domes which are also a lot of fun, but I'm really interested in the A-frame aesthetic and not having to pour a big ol' slab. Thank you for your content!
Great video, thank you for sharing! Dumb question… if the cabin doesnt include utilities; where do people use a bathroom? Lol
Meaning, do you not provide one at all or do you have an offsite bathroom facility you can walk to?
Great question - we are building a bathhouse that will live next door to the cabin with a composting toilet and shower system that uses rain water. I hope it comes out as cool as it is in my head lol.
This is great. Where’d you get the plan for this build?
This is looking fantastic! It seems this video was filmed months ago, is your A-Frame furnished yet?
Thanks man, the cabin isn't furnished yet. I'm actually going upstate this weekend to finish the last bits. I would say the cabin is about 85% complete. Still needs some interior trim and all the little nice things to make it feel more like a home and less like a shed in a field lol.
Looks nice, but I would have gone with a lighter color on the wood, and perhaps the roof too. That looks like it will be a hotbox in the summer sun. Where there appears to be no windows to open or vents, not to mention no shade, the summer temperature is likely to be toasty.
Excellent gyus!!!! thanks for sharing, Whats are the dimention?
Thanks for the support and leaving a comment. I really don't remember off the top of my head but it is tiny. Can fit a queen size bed and not much more.
haha dope send with the VW
lol thanks! We floored it
Well done and yes a bit over priced but for a first build a good way to go... You learned a lot for your next build no doubt. Keep on keeping on.
Thanks 👍 That is exactly what i thought. I would probably build my next cabin from scratch but it was great learning on "easy mode" with this kit.
@@KeepItTiny We will be reaching out in a week or two to do a consult with you. We are ready to expand our current single cabin on 20 acres and add two structures to that (Yurt and A frame) and also actively looking for additional land. TTYS
@@richstrapple sounds great! I’m looking forward to connecting with you!
Did you anchor it to the earth? I’m about to build mine in central Texas and want to avoid a seemingly permanent foundation…. but also keep it from tripping over in one of our wild storms. Thanks for sharing!
Great question man, no I didn't anchor it. The structure as a whole weighs ALOT. The lower window in the back weighs about 800 pounds on its own. I am looking into hurricane straps though. Normally they are used for RV's but I think it could work for this structure. If I go down that route I will be sure to update this channel.
Mobile home anchors . They look like a screw with a long shaft. You are supposed to turn them into the ground. You can bury them instead , easy cheap effective. You don’t want moisture from underneath so lay out some heavy plastic sheeting . Head out to a mobile home hardware store hang out and see how some things are done.
great video. I want to do one a bit bigger
Go for it! I love my a-frame but they do have their down sides. Just do a ton of research and think about how you will be using it and you will be good to go!
Is that thing level? Also, no electricity? Looks cool 😎
id like more info on permitting please
You would need to get that info from the town you're thinking about building in.
Hi Vimy, my latest video I got a zoning expert to sit down and tell us all of his tips and tricks. Check it out: czcams.com/video/KIwZqvrKtWQ/video.html
How is the cabin anchored to the ground?
Looks amazing but looks small as well. More reason to be outdoor I guess
Exactly!!! People will have over two acres and a small pond to call their own when spending time at this cabin. Someone on Reddit to attack me called it a luxury bedroom instead of a tiny home and I was like "yeah man, that's actually what I was going for!" haha
Thanks for the video, just curious, where did you build it?
Thanks for watching! For privacy reasons I don't want to get too specific but the cabin is in Upstate New York.
Wow!!! Looks amazing!!! Thanks for posting!! Can I ask what was the price???
i purchased the cabin kit for 21k - the price has since gone up to 28k
@Keep It Tiny - Business of Glamping and Tiny Homes .... What is the name of that song that starts at the 0:15 second mark please? I went through all the songs listed on the video and it doesn't seem to be a part of those listed. It's got a great vibe. Fun video. Subscribed. :-) Thank you.
Looks good!👏🏾💪🏾 Now the question is would you built another one or have someone else built it next time?🤔
Btw: loved the dancing😂💃
As European I am surprised by the lack of vapor barrier from the inside of the cabin (unless the cabin is located only in the warm climate?). There must be a condensation problem within the wall cavity during winter period or am I missing something?
So far I haven’t had any problems but I could be wrong - if i do run into issues I will definitely keep the channel updated though.
I really wanna watch the whole video but the camera movement is making me seasick. Such a cool little cabin and you guys killed it!
What did you do with the land? As far as, how did you acquire the ability to build such a structure on that piece of land?...Did you buy the land or inherit it? Or are you leasing the land?
I purchased the land a year ago with the sole intention of building this cabin on it.
I'm new to this. I assume their will be a porta-potty for the guests? Or will nature be good enough? Great vid BTW.
Even though nature is always good enough I will be building a bathhouse next door to the cabin for showers and going to the bathroom. My hopes are to use rain water harvesting off of the roof of the building for the shower and to install a composting toilet.
@@KeepItTiny makes sense. I always wondered about the bathroom issue. So will cleaning crews take care of all that or will you be?
I will be handling everything for the foreseeable future. When I hit a point where I believe I have the whole process down and have worked out any kinks then yes, I will pass it along to cleaning crews.
Nice
Thanks for the comment and supporting the channel !!!
You don’t need to build a foundation? And you just put it on bricks? Won’t it slide? Don’t need to bolt it down?
Hi Jamie!! Could you please share the link where you bought the kit?
Its from a company called Den Outdoors. Unfortunately they don't sell the kit any more.
Congrats! Your hard work is paying off! What zoning is your land?
Thanks Austin, off the top of my head I am not 100% sure what the zoning is. I believe farm and agriculture but not certain. I reached out to the town and was told anything built under 149 sqft would not need a permit so long as it didn't have any electrical or running water. So I am good to go.
Putting black paint around the wood window frame broke my heat. I clear coat of stain to preserve that wood texture, would have made it look so classy.
Sorry, I love the stealth look of the black on black. that being said, in person the raw wood texture shows much better.

Naiste ja Laste Unistus!
Thanks for commenting and supporting the channel, sorry I only speak English, Kreyol Ayisyen, and a very little bit of French.
So after completing it, my question is, was it worth the $28k price point? I go back and forth on building from scratch to save some $$. What are your honest thoughts?
I got in early and snagged it for 21k - that being said, if you have the building ability, know-how, skill, resourcefulness, and time, build it yourself. I wouldn't pay 30k for it.
I'll build you one for 15k. I will travel to you with my equipment.
This is our thought also to do! :/
Go for it! I am so happy I built it.
Crazy how inflated these prices are. Insane.
Yep, I built this cabin at the height of the inflation during the pandemic. It sucked but I am happy with how the cabin came out.
Heinarõugud! Sobivad ka suveks!

I’m really curious how hot that cabin gets with the black metal roof and dark sides.
It gets hot as all bollocks mate.
May I know the width, length and height of this A-frame in meters? Thanks
You look like a good crew, your hired. Haha

What was the most expensive part of the build? The glass?
Yes, from what i heard the glass alone is a few thousand dollars.
Where can I get my hands on a few cabins?
The manufacturer has stopped producing it. I don't know why but i am going to make a video speculating why they did that. Coming in a few weeks.
Awesome where is the link for the kit??
The company stopped selling this particular unit but the name of the company is: Den Outdoors
You have nice friends
Thanks, I know i'm lucky and blessed to have them
What's the size ?
I see maybe 4k in building material. Not sure how this is 20k+ 🤔
You could have built an 800 sq ft one sourcing materials yourself for less than that.
Yeah, i could have but I was always leaning towards making something that is small or tiny. Also, if I build over 149 square feet there is a ton of paperwork I would have to file with the town.
I would have thought that the door opened outward since there is so little space on the inside.
That would make a lot of sense now wouldn't it !? lol - I have no clue why it opens that way. I may look into seeing if I can change that after the fact but that is how the door came from the manufacturer.
how is the bottom legs not going to Rot ?
presssure treated and they don't make contact with the ground. They make contact with stone. Do you think they still will rot?
21k!? you could build an A-frame 10x the size of that for the same price
I wish I could, I'm not the most handiest person.
how? I would love to learn. Looking to build but have only come across diy smaller ones.
isn't 21000 $ too much for a frame of this size ??
maybe a lil lol
Total prize of hut?
This cabin costed me roughly 20,000
What's the customer service number to den, looking to build two
I don't have their number but I would try finding their email address on their website to reach out.
How square feet???
Smaller than 149 square feet. I believe its 125.
21k for that?!
Yep just for that - what would you have built instead?
The cameraman was very shaky.
Sorry about that, I hope it didn't take away from the video too much. We all would build and take turns holding the camera so we all were a bit sore. I'm honestly still figuring out CZcams and video production.
21,000!! Really?? It's a cubby house 😂
but its a good looking cubby house right ?!
Beautifully done except for one thing why is it you people always do these A-frames black does anybody have any original ideas for color?
i hear you, but you do realize your profile photo on youtube is a plain black circle? lol 😂
$21,000 for that? you could have bought one of those sheds that look like a home and has a lot more space for less than $5k
I know those sheds, I haven’t seen one that cheap in my area though. I am looking into them heavily though for my next project. I will keep the channel updated if I go forward with that idea though.
Everyone has a hindsight situation. This is the new thing and in a couple of years the price will go down for these structures and hopefully the investment will pay itself off.
