    See how to replace the lower ball joint on your Yamaha Grizzly in this video fro Partzilla.com. If you hear clicking inside the control arm or have a torn boot, it may be time to replace it.
    We’re going to need to take the wheel off to start, and then we’ll get to disconnecting the upper and lower control arms. Once that’s done, we can take the hub over to the bench and remove the old ball joint. Yamaha makes a special tool for this, but John will show you how to use a vice and a socket to remove the old ball joint and replace it. Next, we’ll replace the lower ball joint on our Grizzly and then reassemble the suspension and get the wheel back on our ATV.

    When taking off the upper ball joint instead of using a hard metal punch and take the chance of messing up the threads. Use a 1/2 key way. The metal that is used to make key ways. Wont bend threads.

      What is a 1/2 key Way?

    • @calvinkinder1464
      @calvinkinder1464 Před 2 lety

      The metal material, that you make shaft key ways out of. They are not hardened material and make great punches, so you dont scar up shafts, gears, and such

      Its called key stock a keyway is the slot the key sits in and keystock will def mess threads up if hit hard ent aluminum would be best but could still mess up threads if hit hard enough im a machinist i work with metal everyday

    Well, I hate to say it but I have to: The ATV your working on looks like it was never used ! - In a real life scenario the stuff is not coming apart as easy as you show with as few tools as you show. Your not gonna get those out with just some hammer blows and a punch. You'll need a thingy with two jaws and a center that will screw in and push out the old ball joints, Kinda like a reverse bearing puller! - Guess how I know that. Best Regards from Alaska where we put the ATV to work.

    How do you get the nut off the ball joint if the stud keeps spinning also?

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  Před 4 lety

      It's press fit. If it's spinning, you may have to replace more than the ball joint.

    • @thesouthernlife4061
      @thesouthernlife4061 Před rokem

      Use channel locks to grab the stud then wrench to spin the nut ball joints that are worn will spin inside themselves
