The The Armageddon Days Are Here [Again] Royal Albert Hall

- This is the video comprised of three shows filmed at the Royal Albert Hall in England during the "vs. The World" tour for the Mind Bomb album. I believe it was also available in PAL format, but I'm not entirely sure. It was directed by Tim Pope and the quality of picture and sound are quite good.
If there was ever an album that I prayed would become irrelevant, it was Mind Bomb. Instead, it becomes more true with each passing day.

I love how Johnny Marr doesn't play solos, he just makes incredible guitar contributions to every song he plays. His work with The The is my favorite.

You know Matt Johnson is a genius when he can take the drum intro from the Jive bunny track then layer with with Marr's textured guitar magic and then turn it into a nightmare jitterbug tale of today's world we now live in

The opening comes from another older Rockabilly song, but I can't remember which one. I keep thinking that The Leroi Brothers used it too. But I know The Dead Milkmen used it at the beginning of Bottomless Pit.

ah, finally a version of this song that isn't full of pictures of war and crap. I can watch the news for that.. Some people seem to completely miss the irony in this song and take it as a revelation of sorts.

Met Matt in the 2000's when "The The" toured again.
Saw these guys near D.C. around 1990 when Marr toured. He did somewhat of a "solo" but it was him riffing with the amps using stereo tricks. A good show!

Soulmining still remains my all time favourite album. I had a chance to see them in 90 but I chose to go and see Primal Scream instead. Needless to say I regretted it and still do! More The The!

I was there. He was an hour late appearing, off his box and the pianist for Uncertain Smile was crap ..... but it was worth it !!!! Pure energy and one of the last chances to see Matt Johnson before he took 'a sabbatical'.

He's still writing music apparently. He did the soundtrack to a film called Moonbug. Never heard of the movie but the music sounds good.
This was the band at it's prime and it's best incarnation. I saw Matt no less then 8 times. This music is heart and soul.

Well, I would kill for another the The album though...
I really dig the the, matt johnson and i take johnny marr as a big guitar influence of mine. I would like understand the lyrics on a deeper/more worldly level. I guess I'm not one to dive into politics but how would you say I could understand various issues well just to get a better understand/ awareness of it all and how it effects me and everyone else? I'm not sure where to begin in that sense.
I wonder if it would get by the censors or airplay now.
